    I think I mentioned the new Monkie Kid weapons here before. New Elementary has a review of one of the sets and apparently they're a pre-pack that comes in the three largest sets. Here's a picture in case anyone has any interest in them:

    New Elementary has a review of the Monkey King Ultra Mech! https://www.newelementary.com/2022/12/lego-monkie-kid-review-80045-monkey.html?sc=1670945761630#c3057563553670252281 The new weapon pieces for the main characters are in fact a pre-pack, meaning that you could make them all with any of the three sets that include it so long as you could provide the missing hilt/handle parts for the weapons that use them.

    Errors in photos are nothing new, at either Lego or their competitors. Part of that has to do with the complexity of getting a set built, assembled, and brought to the studio—especially for lifestyle photos like these which would likely be done at an external location (instead of an in-house photo studio) and with limited input from the set designers themselves. Might tune out of discussion of this set because I'm already not too fond of the negativity that's surfacing—the usual accusations of laziness or shame as if this isn't something somebody (don't know which designer yet) put a lot of work into. Hopefully when the full reveal happens and we aren't working from one leaked photo the discussion will get a little more evenhanded and considerate...

    Can I have your Lego collection instead? It definitely looks real and it'd be a shame for all your Lego to go to waste (not to mention your stomach will thank you).

    I'll never understand why people whine about one-off advertisements like this. Nothing about this ad really struck me as that out of the ordinary for TV advertising (especially around the holiday season, when companies tend to pull out all the stops). I thought it was cute and I liked the variety of themes featured. Associating the recent price increases with it seems silly to me. A single TV ad, even a comparably expensive one, is not the kind of thing that would break the bank for a company like Lego. It seems obvious to me that across the board price increases have more to do with overarching operating costs than with a single three-minute production.

    What would be ridiculous would be assuming for any reason that Lego would reveal their January modular as early as October. Far from "two months late", a December reveal is very much typical (even if the 10th is later than usual). Also, the article may be making a lot out of a small statement, but a statement like that from Lego Fan Media like Zusammengebaut DOES carry more weight than any other such speculation we've seen here, since if the reveal is indeed tomorrow then registered fansites likely already have the press release in hand (albeit embargoed to a particular date and time).

    If dark grey ends up not being allowed in this case, the dark bley parts are mostly the ones with the towball—so alternative towball options like technic axles and pins with towball, 2x2 plates with towball, etc. might be options you could avail yourself of. Most of the ball cup pieces (except for the double sided one with a ball cup and towball) are in light bley.

    Really I can see why they don't do something like that. All that would do is make demand from the public at large (as opposed to the small niche that is hardcore AFOLs) skyrocket... which would both distract from the sets Lego is trying to sell currently, bury the news of other planned announcements, and dramatically increase the likelihood for leaks (since everybody would know something was coming long before the actual reveal, and all that demand would create even more of an incentive for somebody with an inside scoop to break the story "first"). A new set announcement has no reason to be a week-long or month-long affair. When they're ready to announce it they'll announce it, and stringing fans along with teasers beforehand would be both unnecessary and counterproductive.

    Not necessarily useful yet (at least for existing factions), but one of the new "Spidey and his Amazing Friends" sets for younger builders has a new space wheel that seems to take inspiration from the 80s/90s ones! https://brickset.com/sets/10791-1/Team-Spidey-s-Mobile-Headquarters If it shows up in black it'll therefore be useful for all sorts of themes, and if we're lucky enough for it to show up in white we might finally have a modern wheel piece suitable for Ice Planet MOCs!

    I don't think this is true? Lego Brand Retail is a separate organization from Merlin Entertainments (which controls the Legoland Parks and Legoland Discovery Centers). This is part of why things like VIP points do not work at those locations—that's a program run by the separate Lego Brand Retail organization (which is part of The Lego Group). Merlin Entertainments is also owned by Kirkbi A/S (the Christiansen family's investment organization, which also owns The Lego Group) as of 2019.

    Lifts off to allow the mech to be removed. I don't think it has a purpose beyond that.

    I've been trying to build some of the 2023 sets on Stud.io recently (as I often do, to try to get a feel for the build and figure them out in three dimensions better than I can from the pictures or turnaround alone). Not a lot of major "revelations" or anything, but it did help me to get a better feel for the Yellow Tusk Elephant set (since the size and bulk of it means a lot of views of it have various parts obscured). The seat for the mech (when stowed) sits nicely between the Chima spider leg pieces, making for a sort of throne. The shooters on top also rotate along with the head so that they're always aimed the way the head is facing.

    It's possible! Though I don't think any mini-dolls have had printing on the sides of the head before.

    Yeah, I should clarify—the risk of breakage is as important as any limitation on what CAN be physically molded in ABS. Thinner details that could break or bend out of shape in ABS can make a more rubbery plastic, which resists damage of that sort, a more practical option for certain hair pieces.

    What? How so? It's just a way of identifying sets, with a little more brevity than, say, the kind of UPC number you'd see on a barcode. It's also useful for when sets get reissued with changes (and an updated number to go with them even if the set name stays the same), or when discussing sets on an international site like this (since sets can have different names in different languages).

    I keep noticing cute things about these sets. Nova's phone (in her room set) has a Pokémon Go-looking app on it! And the character on it is on her shirt in the bubble tea set! Friends has its own knock-off Pikachu! The grocery store has a phone printed with a "mobile pay" decal. Trendy! I also didn't realize at first how the sliding doors in the grocery store worked. It looks like both doors are geared together so that moving the knob on top opens/closes both of them. The outfits in the room sets are neat too—Paisley and Aliya have pajamas and Autumn and Liann have paint splatter! The same lost dog flyer appears in several of the sets—as a printed tile in 41727, 41738, and 41741, and also as a sticker with other flyers in 41729! 41738 is where that dog is found, with plenty of evidence (a poop piece and a sticker with a collar and pawprints). The plaque on the flower shop building in 41732 reads "Est. 2012", a nice nod to the Friends theme's introduction. Churro the chubby cat is my FAVORITE new animal! In Leo's room, his cabinet has a sticker showing Churro with a chef hat and rolling pin—it's not hard to picture him as the mascot of Leo's cooking videos. The book and projected movie in Aliya's room are both fantasy, and her dog is named Aira... is she maybe an Elves fan? Overall there's so much to love about these sets, and the new characters' personalities really shine even though we've only just been introduced to them.

    I was trying to figure out what that fig was reminding me of! It's obviously not authentic to the original sets, but that new neon yellow color does certainly give off some Unitron vibes!

    It'd certainly be cool to get minifigs of those characters, but who knows. Unlike the shark singer (which showed off an entirely new headpiece), these two video game characters seem to use existing molds.

    Yeah! In addition to generally looking much nicer, this one seems to be narrower than the old brick-built wheelchairs (like the new wheelchair introduced for the Avatar sets this year), which should make it more compatible with narrower door frames.

    The legs are from the new Monkey King minifig in 80045! Might've been nice to get the full version of that fig instead of a mix-and-match one, but still nice to get a leg piece with detailed printing like that in a polybag. The polybag also gives us a better look at a new Pigsy's Noodles carry-out box print on a 1x2 tile—this one looks like wood instead of clear plastic. It also shows up in the Team Hideout (which this polybag generally ought to complement well).

    The number range indicates it's probably a polybag set (which are numbered differently). Most of the sets with names but no images come from Lego's customer service database, with pages made for the sets but no instructions uploaded (yet).

    May depend on when it's due to launch. It's not totally uncommon for new themes to launch in March or later.

    Speaking of trans-red windscreens, there's a new one in the Miles Morales car from the Marvel theme next year.

    Just noticed the Rocket Raccoon mech in the Marvel theme has a Reddish Brown Western/Aquazone bush as its tail, which could be great for scenery.
