DC Superheroes 2016 - Rumors and Discussion
rob-ot5000 replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
Ha, wow, this took me a minute to figure out! Sorry, I wasn't referring to the Luthor mech set with Martian Manhunter and Superman (6862), where Luthor appears in a business suit, but instead to 30164, where the minifig itself is wearing his armor, similar in style to the Super Friends Lex Luthor / Silver Age comics Lex Luthor. THAT is what I don't wanna shell out so much for. A re-release would be incredibly welcome.- 8,446 replies

DEAR LORD, SECONDED!! I've been so hesitant to shell out $35 on the secondary market for Power Armor Lex, but he is SO COOL. It would be great to get one actual in a set. It may well end up costing almost as much, and for a Juniors set, but damn, at least I would get a few useful bricks with it!- 8,446 replies

Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 1 Discussion

Are any of those hairpieces re-used older ones, or are they all new molds? I think we determined the sleepy-head recolor (whether it shows up or not), and that Mr. Incredible is NOT Shaggy, but what about the rest? I swear, they all look so familiar. Wasn't Ursula's used in Ultra Agents or something? That one line with the anime-styled figures and hair, maybe? Same for Syndrome? Peter Pan, I'm sensing, is new and the only one I really recognized as such at first look. Anyone care to break it down? Princess debate? Did someone say Princess debate? PRINCESS DEBAAAAAAAATE!!! Not quite right, but definitely the closest I've seen. Passable, for sure! Oh my god, some of those old Clone Wars face prints are downright nightmare-inducing. Yes, let's hope these don't have same effect. One of mine, too! It's also my favorite Fantastic Four movie! Well, I definitely think she looks good in that rendering, but I could see thinking she looked good with a molded head, as well. Basically, I'm down for either, as long as it looks good. Yes, that is a completely objective criterion- 4,155 replies

That's what was theorized, but no one ever had any confirmation. I actually just posted the other day in the seasonal thread asking about this set (40221), but got no replies. Anyone here know anything more concrete?

Cool! I'm still not totally sold on these strictly because they're so limited and they tend to stand out in the collection. Just got my first dual-molded-legged Batman with the Kryptonite Interception. Some mix and match with the Riddler Chase set Batman and, maaaan, I've just about got my perfect Batman, but he's the only superhero I have who wears boots. I have no idea what you're referring to, but I'd love to see it (hint, hint). In the meantime, I'll check out Google, see if I can scope it. ***Pats you on the back*** Everybody get's hammered now and again, somehow Interesting thought, and logical, but I would be completely bored by that minifig. I'd still get the set though! -

Yay for news! Love the Incredibles, but I would assume this will decrease our chances for sets when the sequel drops. Unless they make new molds for Mr. Incredible that they would want to reuse... Just thinking out loud... Thanks, J2G!- 4,155 replies

Ahhh, thank you! I was wondering where people were seeing that.! That's definitely the belt from Wally's 90s/00s costume, although the torso we currently have seems to be an amalgam of Wally and Barry, since Barry's is actually supposed to face the same direction all the way around, rather than pointing in toward the center. But whatever I know too much about that jazz. As for the Mighty Micros, they look really neat from a kid-perspective, but the only one I'll be getting is probably Spider-Man/Green Goblin (DC thread, I know) just because of that amazing head print. The rest of them, the expressions don't really work for my purposes, even though I think they look hilariously awesome. Bane's face is priceless.- 8,446 replies

Marvel Superheroes 2016 Rumors And Discussion

I agree that Magneto was the villain of that particular set, but I would argue that Ghost Rider can still occupy a morally gray role like other characters such as Punisher, Venom, or indeed Deadpool. I wouldn't call Ghost Rider a villain, but he has certainly played the antagonist before. I'm not saying my idea is correct at all, it was just a thought, but TLG is going to have a tough time finding an acceptable villain that looks more villainous than Ghost Rider. -

There's been a lot of talk about this, and I'm pretty sure we don't know either of those things. We know it exists, and we know it will be a store-exclusive. That's it. As far as I can tell, having read this whole thread, we don't know what store, and there's still no actual MCU Spider-Man confirmation. Just assumptions. Someone IN THE KNOW, please feel free to correct me. ______ As for all of this Ghost Rider talk: It honestly never occurred to me that it could be the Robbie Reyes version, since I often forget he exists. I grew up in the 90s, so Danny Ketch, he of the leather jackets and shoulder spikes, was always 'my' Ghost Rider. However, after Johnny Blaze's reemergence, he assumed a lot of the visual trappings of the Ketch version, and the two have become somewhat conflated, visually, into what is the most iconic version. So that's what I'm expecting, even though the Robbie Reyes character does seem to fit into the USM world much better. A new flame-head mold, where the flames trail behind somewhat, would be entirely welcome, but I don't really expect it and I think the Ultra Agents piece would look just fine. I'd be happy to be wrong, though. There's been villain-talk for this set, as well as someone wondering why TLG would produce a demonic superhero, etc. My thought was: what if Ghost Rider IS the villain? A 'hero vs anti-hero' sort of thing. We all know he isn't a bad guy, but he's been played that way before and I could see them classifying him as such so that it can fly under the radar. Just some mindless speculation. -
Has anyone heard anything further about 40221? January is right around the corner....

ARRRRRGGGG GIVE IT TO ME NOOOOOWW. There's no rational basis for this, but Ghost Rider has always been one of my favorite characters. I'm sure we'll probably see that cool flaming head piece from Ultra Agents, which is nice since I missed that set on the first go-round. And yeah, if there's no motorcycle, something has gone very, very wrong. Ha, After the first movie, I didn't even try to sit through the second. Kudos to you, I suppose, for your fortitude! -

Brilliant, this is almost exactly what I was going to reply with. I surely didn't/don't mean to insult or offend anyone, or suggest that I don't enjoy the rumors and discussion, but we should be more careful saying something is confirmed when it isn't. Absolutely! I've been on the site long enough to recognize that some certain members do have their connections and inside info. If they say it's confirmed, I'll believe it, and I'm happy to use the word "confirmed" in the discussion from then on, as I feel it would then be appropriate enough, but "confirming" something based on an ambiguous sentence confuses everyone. I'm all for rumors and discussion! Hell, that's why I'm here! And sure, given TLG's track record, Spidey probably is a given, but not confirmed. Much appreciated, too! Anyway, merry Christmas, everyone! -

I never really bought into this list. There was too much about it that didn't make sense to me. And I know we're past that now, but this was a pretty convincing argument for the plausibility of the list's contents. I agreed, until I read the post above. Tarzan and Jane, collectively, was one of my main sticking points with the fake list. I've just never considered the Disney versions of Tarzan and Jane as anywhere near the most iconic versions of the character or even iconic Disney characters, unlike, say, Peter Pan or Aladdin. But I know a lot of that has to do with age and exposure, so those are just my reactions, and yet still I don't really expect them to make the cut, at least not initially. The inclusion of "filler" of sorts does make a bit of sense, and as filler goes, it lives up to that, for me, but it still seems too early for these two. As far as rights and such go, as has been mentioned, I imagine it's similar to the situation with the Wizard of Oz, where one company retains the rights to market their particular versions of the character. These characters are clearly still present in merchandising, but other companies are able to make and market their own versions (Wizard of Oz is public domain, I believe), as long as they don't infringe upon certain particular aspects. There are tons of Oz adaptations, but all of them are very clearly not tied to the MGM version of Oz, as the Dimensions versions are. /tangent Amen, brother. And whenever it is, wherever it is, I'm all over Maleficent in minifig form. Bring it. Well this is just the saddest thing in this whole thread. Twelve thumbs down       Yeah, the list wasn't that bad, as far as believability. It did have some questionable bits, though, with the biggest being the complete lack of princesses, specifically ones utilizing the brand-new dress piece from CMF series 15. I've never seen Mulan, so I can't engage in that debate, but there's no chance I will believe any list that doesn't include a dress-wearing character. (I've never seen the Disney Tarzan either, so I have no idea if Jane wears a dress or not for the majority of the film). Whether or not I'm right is up in the air, but until there's an actual announcement, I cannot believe TLG would introduce that awesome new piece and then not put it to use here. In my mind, there is no way. It's not possible. I hope I'm right. I know something* The post you were replying to outlined the exact reasons why it is possible and, arguably, probable. Pixar is far more than just Toy Story, and that's one of the few they've already done. Not to mention the upcoming chance for a line solely devoted to Toy Story 4. There are so many other characters for whom a CMF line would be the only chance. Someone already mentioned him, and I agree, I totally want Ed Asner (Carl from Up) in LEGO form. * - I don't really know anything.- 4,155 replies

When I first heard about that piece, I did some light searching, but never found what set it was in. Then I gave up. Does anyone know off-hand what set(s) this piece comes with? Or what the piece would be called on BrickLink? Maaaan, I would love an official Ghost Rider fig so much! -

Huh, learned something new. Not a word I would ever see myself using, but I didn't know it was offensive. I always thought it just connoted a historical context/role. Reading up on the term and its etymology, I came across a line about stereotypical portrayals of the "squaw with the papoose", which raises the question: if the term is offensive, how is the fig itself not an offensive representation of said stereotype? I dunno, I didn't care about that particular fig before, and I don't now, but that got me thinking about it. Anyway. -

Ooh, that's a nice idea! I was hoping for a new mold for the wings specifically so I could replace Hawkman's, I've thought about doing this, but I'm not convinced I'll like it. I'll definitely be trying it out to see how it looks, though! Agreed on both counts. ----- Thanks everyone, for all of the pics! This looks like a fairly decent line up. Was there a new trailer, aside from the unmasking clip that played with Gotham? I'm not finding anything online. As for *that* character, unless we see him in a new trailer that I'm unaware of, we've been repeatedly told he isn't in this movie. Right? EDIT: Ahem. Found it. Alllllrighty then! .- 8,446 replies

Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold up. I guess this isn't the place for that debate, and I suppose I understand what you mean regarding his respective threat level based on whether he has the gauntlet or not, but still: Thanos is always a galactic threat. Even without the gauntlet. Completely agree. I didn't care too much for the Javelin, initially, and still don't, but compared to the Avenjet, it was a sleek, (mostly) well-constructed craft. The Avenjet, on the other hand, looks clunky. Very, very clunky. As with most everyone else, I also think the sub has a better model, but, as with both sets, the builds aren't enough of a draw to get me to buy them. This is indeed all about the figs. And the figs for the sub aren't even interesting, to me. If they are withholding the gauntlet, as it seems, I would expect to not see it until Part Two releases. But that's sooooooo far off! -

Oh my. Thoughts! Winged Warrior: A bit disappointed that I only like the individual parts rather than the fig as a whole. I thought I would, but oh well. Animal Control: I want that skunk! I don't care much for the rest, but....skunk! Laser Robot: I hate the Galaxy Squad style (or whatever that is called). I was hoping for something very, very different. This is the easiest "pass" of the whole series. Concierge: Love the new mop piece! As for the rest, I like him only a tad more than the Animal Control fig. Jewel Thief: Neat, I suppose, but not visually appealing enough to warrant a buy, for me. Farmer: Pig! Arg, kind of frustrating how many of these have accessories I want but figs that I don't care about. Well, just those three, I suppose. Astronaut: I just got some neat-o astronauts with the new City line, so this doesn't really offer anything, as it's fairly generic, but I'm assuming that's a printed flag piece, which is cool, but likely not enough to get me to buy it. Scary Knight: Oh wow, this guy looks pretty sweet. Love the mace! If it's not new, it's new to me, as is much of the stuff here. Maybe it's just me, but THIS is the kind of mace Hawkman should have come with. Satyr: YES. This looks fantastic! I'm so glad we have new legs, though it's hard to make them out clearly from just this pic. They don't look quite as awesome as the sketch versions from pages back, but still awesome! And while a new pan flute piece would have been cool too, I love this compromise, since, between the flute and the legs, I'd much rather have new legs. Shark Suit Guy: Also fantastic! Perfect! And I know people are absolutely entitled to their own opinion, but if you don't love this, you're wrong. Obviously, I'm just kidding, but seriously, you're wrong :) Queen: Again, perfect. So glad that the debate about the skirt piece ended with a new mold! It looks amazing! Someone mentioned seeing printing on the side of the piece, but I'm not seeing anything. Not that I mind or care, just not seeing it. I like this fig a lot more than I ever anticipated. She will look great next to the King! Wrestler: Undecided, though I have a friend who will love it for sure. For some reason, the pics I'm seeing on this thread, the Wrestler is the only one whose face we can't see. I'm hoping for Ultimate Warrior style facepaint, but I don't expect it. It would raise it from a "maybe" to a "yes", though. Ballerina: I never expected to care, but I really like it. Very iconic and visually appealing. Mark me down as wanting one in black as well. Tribal Woman: Meh, the only interesting part for me is the baby, and even that looks very....specific. It doesn't seem like a generic baby, it seems specifically a "tribal" baby. Unsure, though if I grabbed it blindly at random, I wouldn't be too disappointed. Kendo Fighter: Also not my cup of tea. Clumsy Guy: Oh man. Okay. I love this guy, with the exception of his crutches. They don't work. There may be some great uses for the piece in MOCs and whatnot, we'll see, but they don't look good at all as crutches. I liked the idea of having a cutout so that it looks like the crutch could be under the arm. I may get an extra to try modifying the crutches. All in all, a nicely varied wave. Not the best, not the worst. Lots of fun new pieces, a few great new figs, along with a few mediocre figs. I really hate that robot. . -

He was talking about a list that AmazingBricks posted, one of a few, which are worded to resemble facts, even though he briefly mentions that they are mere speculation. As far as I can tell.
