The idea of doing each little vignette and then stacking them in a tower is very cool. And while some aspects of the scenes may seem cluttered as a fan of the show from the beginning I love the detailing and everything you included because thats what there filming set looks like. I applaud your creation and won't be substituting my own reality.

After watching the Space Shuttle Endeavour launch on Monday, May 16th 2011 (STS-134) with my son I thought to myself, 'wouldn't it be cool to take the original classic space shuttle from 1979 and recreate it 32 years later but using a NASA color scheme and including the Spaceman minifig from the series 1 Collectable Minifigures.' Thus this creation was born. I wanted to keep a very similiar shape to 442 but change the color to white with a black bottom and black edges to the wings like the current space shuttle fleet and other NASA space aircraft. I didn't want to over build it and include a ton of playable features, so I kept it simple by including only some easy to reach space tools (two wrenches) and two directionally positionable engines underneath the tail section (they also act like landing gear keeping the shuttle in balance when it is sitting flat). I also gave the Spaceman a white oxygen/air tank like the original astronaut figures. And yes that is my original 442 Space Shuttle from 1979 that I had as a five year old kid, I just had to go raid my sons Lego collection to find some of my original pieces again. Very nice design and I like how it fits into the official Lego modular town buildings. How about putting in some flat screen televisions in the pub (using some various sizes of black tiles)? I think it would help with the flatness of one of your first floor walls. But otherwise built very nice!

That is just unbelievably sweet looking from the buildings to the piles of "trash" around the structures to the speeders. AWESOME!!!

Nice funny review, I always like a wit with the commentary. I will eventually pick this up for my son at some point.

This is an update or Version 1.2 of my Humvee. Inspired by more U.S. Special Forces modified Humvees. I have added a turret to the top and swing arm mounted M249 to the passenger side. I also took out the dark green pieces and changed the overall camoflauge pattern by incorporating more black and dark tan colors. I think it gives it a much meaner look now with this particular color scheme. The machine gun in the turrent is also a M249 as no one out there that I know of makes a Lego version of a .50 caliber machine gun (as of yet, hope, pray, hope). The turret took me two days of off and on building to come up with the hinge design and side to side action needed to make it positionable plus the fact of how small of an area it needs to fit into but also not interfering with being able to put four minifigs in the Humvee. The brown monopod handle is from Brickarms, I didn't have one in black in my collection to use. "Hey my helmet is on backwards" I like using the flesh colored double sided faces for multiple expressions The start of a convoy?

Very nice design and build. Would be awesome to see you build it in black also.

Love the LDD model in your ability to fit so much detail in and the striping pattern. I do agree with some of the others posters about the length of the entire engine. I feel and it looks about two to three studs to long. But don't know how yet to really shorten it without loosing detail and playability. Maybe shorten the driver area by one stud. Also how is the front bumper attatched? It looks like you are using a bracket from the image so it appears to stick out a hair. Why not use bricks, modified with studs on one side (1x4 or even 1x1s) to get the bumper closer to the engine front.

About $22.00 all told with various orders from bricklink to do the overall color scheme in tan. The only pieces I never got in tan, because I couldn't justify paying the price for them were a tan wedge plate 4x2 left for the hood (that averages a little over $1.00) and tan tile, modified 1x1 with clip (that costs anywhere between $0.46 and $2.00, and you could need anywhere from 4 to 8 of them depending on design changes). Changing the color scheme changes the cost. Hope that helps and thanks for the compliments.

My first attempt at a High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV or Humvee). This partcular desgin was inspired by images I found of Humvees used by U.S. Special Forces in Afghanistan. The initial construction design followed instructions made avaliable by LEGOHAULIC on Brickshelf. After making a parts list and doing some research on various Humvees and because of the avaliability and price of certain tan pieces I decided to go with this color scheme. It uses a mix of tan, dark tan, dark green and black. I made serveral modifications to LEGOHAULICs design as I felt the playability factor and sturdiness were not up to my total liking. I reinforced the rear canopy area and hood areas to make them stronger plus I redesigned the front grille and headlights to include a brush guard and the orange tinted headlights. Here is a link to the site for the images that led to my design U.S. Special Forces Humvees in Afghanistan Weapons and Armor are from minifig.Cat Toy Shop I'm already working on improvements to this Humvee by including a semi-protected gun turrent and gun/arm holder to the passenger side hood plus redoing some of the camoflauge to make it darker in its overall scheme. Plus I'm working on a M-1114 UAH (Up-Armored Humvee).

I think there are two reasons for doing this (using multiple shades of a color), 1.) lack of proper amount of bricks in the same color. 2.) And I think this reason,#2, goes for the more serious/experienced MOCer, using different shades of the same color breaks up the monotononus look of a wall or facade. To see this better, hop in your car and drive around and look at the side of buildings or any structure that is made up of wood or bricks. They are not all exactly the same color but use shades of the same color. It breaks up the color and looks more pleasing visually to the eye. Capturing that detail in LEGO, while not hard in building aspect is complicated by the limited colors available and size of MOCS. But it is something I do try to incorporate into my buildings and facades when necessary.

Simplistic but done very nicely, I could somehow see the back of the speeder being a tad bit wider, but just my thought.

Gonna have to grab the snowboarder and the lumberjack, minifigures that will definitely fit into my winter street creation I have been working on for the last couple of months. -

13/Attack on the Nile by Yatkuu - 4 points 11/Leviathan Dragon Fish by ---Vertea--- 2 points 3/Ignacia Village by quy - 1 point Excellent job everyone, superb designs. Good Luck to ya all. -
Totally awesome design, very well done. Love the hazmat storage tray (great idea using a stretcher) and love the hazmat robot. But where are the trash cans to dispose of the waste or collapse shower stall to wash off after being exposed to the cruddy stuff. Great design and implementation of it in actual LEGOs.

Excellent review of this great but simple set. I can definitely see alot of MOCing going on with this set especially with the color scheme and some added playability.
-
Nicely done. Fits perfect as a LEGO creation into LEGO designed vehicles/universe so it doesn't appear as a MOC but something official.

The water is just SICK!!! Superbly done.

D2C Contest: Attack on the Nile

When I first ran across this MOC on brickshelf I thought it was a leaked image of a new set coming out - so very well done. The design and color choices blend perfectly into the Pharaoh's Quest line. And I love the use of the dark red wedge plates on the hovercraft as a sort of shielding. AWESOME!!! -
very cool MOC. Love how you incorporate the rock formation to creat the base for the MOC. The black tree is a nice touch. Only piece of advice, maybe add some 1x1 plates or round plates to the road to break up the overall reddish brown color for some added dimension and another color option. Otherwise nice display piece.

Good Gosh man, how many bricks are in that super superb awesome creation of yours. Very cool!!!
-
Very cool desgin. Has a retro feel to but aslo seems like it has been up-armored to be like a modified batmobile or something. Agree about the wheels they seem just a little to wide. Any way to work some chrome elements into the design?
-
Very cool concept and implementation and the trans-blue obelisk has a nice touch of sci-fi to its design.
-
For some reason your hoverbike just screams coolness factor x10 and I love your choice in using the bearded minifig head - reminds me of Sean Connery for some reason. Great Job!!!

Very awesome design love the idea of the dump truck for the pod racer cockpit. Cant wait for my son to wake up this morning to show him this impressive build.
