Brick Testament: Education or Exploitation?
MatthewUSA replied to Norrington's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I do understand what some of you are saying about censorship. But by using "Lego toys" for his art, some of his images and work has taken a childs toy to a sadistic level. This is what I was trying to get at earlier. These types of images can either stay in his home or he can broadcast these to an adult audience. He does not have the right to promote such images to children. Parents need to educate their children about these certain images, not him. Plus the audience he is obviously trying to relate to is children. I understand that some of you would say that he isn't, but look at this in a parents point of view. A parent is going to think that teaching a child about the Bible with Lego toys is perfect. Children can relate to Legos and they are familiar with them. But when parents see the contraversal images, then the "Rev" becomes sick and dimented. This is what I am trying to convey. -
I would like to send a THANK YOU to all who found these images. These have been some really cool ideas. I give these images two *y* up. I really *wub* the images of the interior. Thank you all again for the ideas.

Brick Testament: Education or Exploitation?
MatthewUSA replied to Norrington's topic in General LEGO Discussion
When I first heard about this "Rev" and his lego models telling the stories of the Bible, I thought that was really cool. What a good way to reach out to children and explain the Bible. But after viewing some of the pics mentioned here, I am very disappointed with the "Rev". Some of his scenes were very disturbing. If this man is really a "Rev", I would think he would not have created certain scenes that he did. On the other hand, he may be one of those "Rev's" that the Catholic church has been having troubles with. No matter who he is, I feel he has no right to degrade certain cultures and religious people with such images. This man definitly has lost my respect. I also feel as a Lego fan, we all need to either petition his work or express our feelings directly to him. Lego toys are not meant to be used in such ways. Even though they are a hobby to us, they are still a toy to a child. And that child does not need to associate Lego with some of these images. What a person does with their Legos in their home is their business, but when that person decides to take it a step further and begins showing certain degrading images to the public, that is wrong. I am definitly shocked at his work. I will say some of his models were very well created. But he needs to respect all people of the world. -
Your MOC is very ingenious. I definitly give you two *y* up for the landing gear concept. I wanted to mention that the landing gear on the 4953 set is manual. Each wheel has to be lowered by hand. Again very cool model. Model on.

Captain K, your MOC is very, very awesome. I can definitly see this MOC as a Pirate set. I am a "Town" fan, but I was intrigued to check out your lighthouse. I can definitly see this lighthouse in a town setting. I give you and your MOC two *y* up. GREAT JOB!!

10190 A new LEGO Factory Exclusive!
MatthewUSA replied to legomilk's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Thank you for the new images. I totally *wub* these new modular building sets. They are exactly what the "Town" theme has been needing for quite a long time. I can't wait to see the full images on S@H plus price and piece quantity. THESE SETS ROCK!! -
First off I would like to thank Mr Hobbles for the new images of the modular houses *sweet* . This definitly shows that TLC is working on new modular sets. I can't wait to buy these myself. I am very :'-) about this new line. These sets really revolutionize the "Town" theme. These are sets I am sure all of us "Townies" have been waiting for. I hope TLC will create sets like stores, a bank, post office, the list is endless. I am definitly excited to see what's next and give this new line two *y* up. WAY TO GO LEGO!!
-
Thank you for finding this set. I have not seen this picture. I definitly think this set looks *sweet* . I hope Lego S@H here in the US will have some of these available. I have been able to purchase a couple through S@H in the past. Thank you again.

Widdi, this is definitly a very cool MOC too. I could see this model becoming a Creator set. I would definitly buy it if it was. Very awesome and I give you two *y* up on this MOC too. Model on.
-
Sorry to hear you are leaving. Good luck with your new ventures. :-)
-
I would also like to welcome you Widdi. Your MOC's are awesome. Your carriages especially are very *sweet* looking. I may have a solution to the curve problem you may run into that simon mentioned. I am working on a special locomotive (DD40) which is 66 knobs long. I have found this curve ratio to work. The ratio is curve-straight-curve-straight-straight-curve-straight-curve. With this ratio, my MOC's seem to turn in a more realistic manner. I hope this helps. I want to add I give you two *y* up. Model on.

Very well done at the customization Bonaparte. I definitly give you two *y* up. This minifig looks really *sweet* . What other minifigs have you customized? Model on.

Henry Dreyfuss inspired Hudson (Work In Progress)
MatthewUSA replied to SavaTheAggie's topic in LEGO Town
I would like to say you have done a wonderful job at capturing the streamlined features of the Hudson. Your model is very awesome. I give your model a definite *y* up. I think your color scheme is *sweet* too. Almost similar to the Union Pacific colors. The Santa Fe railroad had Hudson locomotives too. I am not sure if you have seen those. The colors were light blue, silver and dark blue. Santa Fe called it the Blue Goose. If you are able, check this one out. I know TLC has not made much of these colors yet, but it is a beautiful loco to look at. This is another model that I think would look really *sweet* as a set. Good job and model on. -
I haven't bought it yet, but I plan to as soon as I can. I have seen the model though. I definitly thought Lego did a good job with it. I noticed the stairs and back walls. I asked my freind if the model came that way. I was surprised to hear that Lego actually included these things. I am glad to see the model is not open in the back like the other town buildings Lego has made before. I hope they keep creating buildings with finished walls like this. I would definitly give this model a *y* up.
-
I would like to say WOW!!! Your MOC is awesome. I know most men would not use this word, but your model was beautifully done. I definitly give you a *y* up for your design and model. I would *wub* to see a model like this built by TLC. I would definitly buy it. You should submit your idea and see what they say. But I would look to see if you could patent the design first. That way if Lego likes it, they wont be able to rip you off. You definitly deserve something for your model if Lego uses it to create a set. I hope you look into the idea of submitting your design. James Mathis has definitly become a known figure in the Train department. Just think, you could too. Good luck, and awesome MOC. *sweet*

My screen name is generic as well. When I was thinking of names I pretty much figured that people would know you are a Lego Maniac if you are a member, so I did not want "Lego" in my name. I came up with this screen name to basically say I am Matthew from the USA :-) .

Casewindu, I am :-) to see that someone else thought the WW2 episode was creepy and interesting at the same time. I thought I might have been the only one. I still have not been able to see Series 3 yet. I might have to locate them on DVD or something.
-
Very nice scene Casewindu :-) . I remember this episode myself, but I have forgotten how they came to life. I think your Tardis looks very cool too. Model on.
-
I would agree with SavaTheAggie. I like the Santa Fe sets too. I have always been a fan of the Burlington Northern Railroad before the merger. I liked the green & black color scheme. But when I saw TLC make the Santa Fe Super Chief, I got into that railroad too. Now Santa Fe and Burlington Northern merged, so I have the best of both railroads *sweet* . I plan to build my layout to reflect the freshly merged railroads (1995). This way I can have both color schemes. Has anyone heard if TLC still has a contract with BNSF? I hope so, I am very curious to see what Lego plans to come out with.

Thank you Tony for the feedback. I did not realize that is how the system worked. I haven't studied the RC system so I am unfamiliar with it. Thank you again :-) .
-
"Nothing at all, except the RC is impotent in its' ability to pull load. The new RC train cars and locomotives are full of larger pieces or use very small cars to reduce weight. The more recent 9v trains and cars are much much heavier, especially the Super Chief. IIRC, one of the first people to get an RC train tried to pull three or four Super Chief passenger wagons with an RC locomotive and was unable to do so." I found this quote to be :-D. I hope TLC has heard from people who have tried pulling such cars and will not discontinue the 9V system on this basis. I have been a 9V train collector/fan since they came out. The only thing I think is cool about the RC system is the sound ability. I have not bought any of the RC trains, but I have been thinking about it for the sound system. I hope to see TLC take the technologies from both systems and create a 9V train that will be similar to the model railroad systems for HO & O scale. This type of system would be *sweet* . Sorry I could not figure out how to make the quote look like the others, someone please tell me how.

I would definitly say this MOC is awesome. I agree with fellow members that a set like this for the "Western" theme would have been perfect. It is too bad that Lego did not come out with a hotel. I like the color scheme you used as well. Your model is great *y*, model on.

Someone has got the new 7094 King's Castle Siege!
MatthewUSA replied to oo7's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I am a "Town" fan myself, but looking at these photos, I definitly can see this castle in a town setting *sweet* . I thought the set looked very cool indeed *y* . I liked how the castle has that "classic castle" look to it. Looks like the old school castle sets from long ago. I even liked the skeleton figures. They look really cool too. This new theme is definitly very awesome. -
I was wondering where the steam locomotive modelers were getting those wheels. I thought they were from old sets Lego made several years ago. After seeing this post, I checked out the Big Ben website. The wheels look really cool. Thank you for telling us about this site *sweet* . I can finally begin creating my circus train idea I have had for 6 months.

You have done a wonderful job Simon *sweet* . This model looks just like the taxi's you see in New York. Very, Very Cool! *y*
