My favorite of all the entries so far Your greenery work is awe inspiring, I'm still a noob at doing greenery though I horde all the parts i can that might be useful for this type of thing. In the first image, which is my favorite, I was instantly transported in memory to the PoTC ride at Disneyland Of course as others have said, your custom fig is perfect too.

TLG gets greener (ie. more environment friendly)
Darkdragon replied to Sandy's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I put all the bags and boxes in my Recycle bin that is picked up every two weeks. I don't know what they do with it but I'm hoping it goes to recycle and not the landfill. -
TLG gets greener (ie. more environment friendly)
Darkdragon replied to Sandy's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I was noticing the same thing. Especially with the PoTC and Ninjago medium size sets. It's great that I can now fit even more in my shopping bag! Truthfully though, less waste is a great step forward. I've always been annoyed with how large the boxes are compared to how much is in there. -
Your welcome, glad the link solved some questions.

Which way up do you put the hands on your minifigs?
Darkdragon replied to Hrw-Amen's topic in General LEGO Discussion
i usually turn the hands around too, but sometimes i keep it the "official" way depending on the angle i want them to grip. also, not very often though, i find that some items stay in hands better one way or the other. -
Excellent job. I think it looks great the way it is!

Great to see more women getting into stop motion. I've loved it myself since I was in middle school and use to do it with a Hi8 video camera and edits with a VCR. Nothing like spending a week on a 15 second animation! I'm just getting started with Lego animation, and animating people in general (all my old stuff was cars and space ships). However, I thought I would give you some links to books that really helped me learn timing and techniques. Most animation books are geared to drawing and most stop-motion books are geared to clay but the general ideas are still very valid. Stop Motion: Craft Skills for Model Animation (ISBN-13: 978-0240520551) This is a small but very helpful book. It covers everything from planning, to building characters, to animating. For stop-motion folks, the most helpful bit of this book is when it talks about adding weight to items by the way the character moves and facial expression. I highly recommend picking up this book. Timing for Animation (ISBN-13: 978-0240521602) IMHO, the most important part of animation to grasp is timing. Without proper timing you don't really have a good animation. This book is dedicated to timing and even though it is geared to drawing, the techniques are directly translatable to stop-motion. The ILLUSION OF LIFE: DISNEY ANIMATION (ISBN-13: 978-0786860708) This HUGE book is overall a great reference to have on your shelf. It has some very useful bits of knowledge in it. There is nothing here that is geared to stop-motion but if you can find this book at an affordable price sometime, I recommend picking it up. I don't use it as a "go-to" book but I have garnered nuggets of useful info from it.

The Eurobricks Reviewers Academy
Darkdragon replied to Bonaparte's topic in Forum Information and Help
I would please like to attend the Academy so I can review some sets. -
Very well done. It's a fun challenge to try and produce something new out of just parts from a certain set. I like everything, the smelter s great
-
I love the simplicity and style of this creation. your figures are very well done and have a lot of character.
-
Great vig and superb parts usage.

I dunno, that could actually be useful (depending what the whole figure looks like) to have taller figures. Instead of adding a 1x1 plate under each foot for a tall man, I could use these new figures and put regular minifig heads on them. Of course, we'll have to see what it looks like. Sounds almost like they might be similar to Fabuland figs Either way I hope there are new animals!

REVIEW: Fabuland 3628 Perry Panda and Chester Chimp
Darkdragon replied to Pandora's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Excellent review and great photos of everything! I've only ever seen two Fabuland sets with boxes and it's great to see another. I'm sorry I missed this whole theme as a little kid. The only bad thing about reading reviews is that it makes me want to buy sets instead of just figs! -
That is a great brickbuilt lion. I think the size is wonderful for minifig's zoo. The only thing I'd think could be improved is the tail. How about adding this in yellow?
-
It could be a figure that was assembled with random parts - maybe from an ebay lot or found at a garage sale. If you use BrickLink to find the torso and then you can look at the actual minifigures that use that torso and see from there. Another option if you want to be lazy, this may work for you i don't know, is to take a good photo of the figure and post it on BrickLink under Catalog Identification in the forum and ask for help. Though if you don't take the time to look for yourself first you might get harrassed

Love the cage and the whole moc (especially the cage though). The one in the offical set is very not good (disapointing) but yours looks much more like I had imagined a LEGO version would be. Bravo!

scissor lifts
Darkdragon replied to GuiliuG's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Very nice. I'm still extreme novice doing anything Technic but a scissorlift is something that really intersts me as a very useful product (not to stand on!). I will have to give this build a try sometime. -
I followed the same path as you brickmack Recently moved though and got the largest bedroom for my lego room. I've already started sorting/resorting stuff that has been sitting around partially or not sorted at all for a year. Once that is done, I'm planning on attacking all the unopened (or partially canabalized) sets I have neatly stacked in the closet. My husband saw my closet in the lego room the other day and said "It looks like a lego store back room in here."

I have used waterslide and dry rub. Dry rub is very useful, great for use on parts with electronics (since you wouldn't want to dunk those in water). The main problem with dry rub is that it must have a clear coat or it will come off the plastic with very little use. It is also difficult to apply on curved parts (like heads).

Excellent work. These look amazing. Not only the decal work but the head and face choices too.

Thank you everyone for your great comments. I'm looking forward to making a new tiny scene each month and posting in this same thread! Nope, I have only done July so far. I'm thinking about what I will do for August though, I will add a post to this thread with the new month. Each dot is a number because there are no numbered tiles with all numbers and the numbered 1x1 bricks were too expensive for me to justify on this little project. I thought about doing rainbow pattern but I couldn't think of it off the top of my head and didn't feel like looking it up I tried white and black but didn't like the look so I replaced with tan and lime.

That sounds like a Great project for an iApp

I have trouble getting it to work on jumper plates. Could just be me though.
