  1. A young woman weilding a staff with a deep purple gem atop it joins the crowd headed into Heroica Hall and quietly makes her way through the crowded entrance. The air crackles around her each time she passes a cleric, but she doesn't let that bother her tonight. Tonight she is headed straight to the quest board to sign up for her first quest and start her real-world training as a Mage, for there is only so much a feeble old instructor can teach in a classroom. Making her way through the crowd is a bit annoying but she finally gets in a position close enough to the board to give it a good read. It doesn't take long for her to decide that Quest #3: The Missing Matriarch is the right quest and write her name in an open slot. Now that her mission for the night is complete she surveys the room looking for a place she can sit and read her fighting techniques book for a while, possibly get a bite to eat and some ale to wash it down. The place is packed already and more are streaming in by the minute, she sighs to herself as she counts the number of mages she can see on just one hand.
  2. Thank you for running a fun little contest, it was so neat to see all the different models people came up with. Great way to stretch the mind and realize how much potential is in even the smallest set.
  3. TRU in Madison area have not recieved any shipments yet. I will try again Monday.

  5. Thanks Stash, so far so good. This message is just quick note to let folks know - tomorrow is the meeting! If you are within a couple hours drive (aka this is the closest LUG for you), you should sign up on the website for membership - even if you can't make it to this month's meeting. Sept 10 is the next meeting and also our first build contest, only members will be able to get the details for the contest and be eligible to win! I've also got something else in the works that will be announced at the September meeting. http://www.wislug.org
  6. Bob got to the tree to cut it down in preparation for the new super-highway when he noticed a slight problem. Uh, boss? I don't think the tree would like to be cut down right now?
  7. These are great. I especially like the thief, he's perfect! I bet they will come out with a red-ish hood sooner or later. :) maybe you could use
  8. After seeing the images of the figures (which are meh), I am still excited about the theme. I feel that the sets and accessories should still be in scale for minifig - unlike belville sets (which are in scale with technic figures by the way). It's impossible to tell from the photos how big the cat and dog are, but they are kinda cute though look nothing like any other lego animals, they do remind me of Duplo and Scala animals. As far as target audience, I know that my niece would LOVE these figures if there were a way to change the clothes (like Polly Pocket which she adored for years). If it's true that the headgear for minifigs is swappable for these figures then that is Great! If not, then I think it will be an issue for girls wanting to stick to playing with these figures, like others have mentioned - girls like to dress up their dolls. Looking forward to the release of this theme even if we can't animate the figures because the legs are all one piece.
  9. Thanks for the huge images, I'm really liking this set. I hope the banjo tile is printed not stickered! Not sure if I like the sax yet but time will tell. The truck is my favorite part of this set so far, the little scenes they set up in the photos are excellent too. Need to re-release the train for us latecomers
  10. - 01 - Toa_Of_Justice - Cargo Plane: 2 - 24 - AndyC - The terrifying Sphinx, guarding his 'treasure': 3 - 38 - The Lanterne Rouge - Helicopter: 1
  11. Haha. Well here we have school starting in september and october is halloween, many options with both of those. I think I have decided to have a minifig scene each month rather then non-minifig (ie, not just sculptures and such).
  12. Updated for August.
  13. that looks really slick. I think each shelf unit should be a different bright Lego color ;)
  14. love it! it really does have a great fabuland feel to it. I especially like the engine and I think the yellow is perfect. personally I try not to pair yellow and red because it muddles both colors (blue is what I like to pair with yellow), but your design works well. I could see a lot of folks going the custom decal path with this but I am glad to see you didn't.
  15. After a long few months of planning and organizing, a new LUG is ready to have it's debut meeting. This meeting is, of course, free and open to anyone who'd like to come. We are an AFOL club but welcome fans 13-15 with adult supervision. The club is based in Madison, Wisconsin, USA but anyone who is willing to come to meetings/events is welcome to join Even if you are just in the area (we will meet every 2nd Saturday of the month), you are welcome to attend. Meeting Details: August 13, 2011 from 2pm-4:45pm Madison Public Library, Hawthorne Branch 2707 E Washington Ave Madison, WI 53704 608-246-4548 (library phone number) Map At our inaugural meeting, we will be having a couple of door prizes and there will be soda/water and snacks. If you are interested in attending, feel free to bring a MOC or set you'd like to show/discuss. We will also have a few LEGO Games to play if anyone is interested in doing that. For more information about WisLUG, please visit our website at www.wislug.org. If you have any questions/concerns about the club or the meeting, please send me a PM.
  16. Up for grabs are some trans-variouscolors space/windshield/idontknow panels. I have SO MUCH of this type of stuff and I have yet to use anything on any MOC. As you can see it is all in used condition but I think very serviceable for someone who likes to build with these types of things. I will cover up to $2 shipping anywhere in the world. Please PM me if you'd like these parts. UPDATE: These have been claimed.
  17. This looks very slick, could use an xl baseplate as a gameboard and attach he dominoes to it. that way when a player hits the table in frustration the game pieces won't go flying ;-)
  18. Multicolored flasks would be so great I still say the whole thing sounds like Fabuland scale which means everything is a little big for minifig scale but lots and lots of useful parts even for building in minifig and belville scale. I'm pretty excited, I hope there are new animals!
  19. Sweet! Finally a contest I can sink my teeth into (are bite marks allowed? hehe). This is going to be fun!
  20. You could use a very small screw to screw into the post and then pull it out. This might work but you are unlikely to have a screw small enough (like for building dollhouse furniture). You can get a small paperclip, pull the arm off the torsos, stick the paperclip into the hole in the arm where the arm connects the torso. gently work the paper clip around the elbow bend and then use it to push the hand stem out. However, i recommend just buying a new arm. Buy a few cheap torso assemblies or arm pairs on bricklink and then you'll have backup for next time.
  21. I really like your creation a lot and I am a big fan of the movie. Don't care for the stylized photo at the top but I realize you are trying to make the build look more like the actual drawing and that worked out well. I just prefer to see nice crisp and clean moc photos at the begining. The Howl and Turniphead figures are great, would love to see some closeup shots of the other members of his troupe.
  22. Great review When I first saw this set and the city/town version I wanted them both. However once the larger photos were out I realized that this set is pretty bad. Yes some of those torsos were only available in limited sets (ie the prince from advent) or expensive sets (ie bride from grand emporium) - but it really falls down when you look and see that only one of the "princess" type torsos is including the matching dress slope. None of the legs are printed and as you noted the heads are horrible. I don't mind the "new classic smiley" which is the basic head I am starting to see everywhere, but that female face with the wrinkles and beauty mark is something else - there better choices for "female smiley" out there already. Anyway, that's not the point. The point is that I did get the city version of the minifigs set and I like it. It has lots of cool accessories and I think you should definitely check it out if you haven't already (green bike, dark brown cat, and laptop are my favorites).
