Oh, I'm intersted in some of these things. Getting a PM ready for you. -
I agree with you. It can be tough to balance what QM wants to do against how much effort the players want to do with RPing, I think especially at the end when they know the fights are over and they just want to get to the Hall to sign up for new quests. I tried to railroad them into conversations occasionally, but that didn't always work either.

Guess I might have been making up a little for how little loot Cinna ever got in quests which I was sad about myself. Maybe I overdid it a little, but loot is half the fun!
-
Cinna walks into the hall. It's flurry of activity, aromas, and noise sends a short shiver of panic through her. She considers turning around before leaving the entryway, before anyone has seen her. Taking a deep breath though, she takes another step into the Hall and then another. Soon she is standing in front of the quest board. It's been a while, and the board is full of new quests. She studies each one before finally writing her name below Quest #44: My Best Friend. "That looks like a good first step to repairing the damage I have brought to the world through my actions and inactions. " she thinks solemnly to herself. Turning away from the board, she smiles to see Tesni sitting down to have some well-earned food and drink. "Hope everyone else arrives safely too." she mutters before heading upstairs to get some warm food and cool drink for herself.

Thanks for the feedback guys. To address the badgers: number one there's only three in the name, so I thought three was good. Then I thought I should make it 6 but it was too late to order more bears by then! The other items that were touched upon story-wise were either side quests nobody took or possible future storylines, so I'm glad you guys found those interesting. When I originally wrote the quest, i actually thought I would be getting a lot more RPing from my players then what I ended up with. I also am a horrible judge of how long things are going to to take when everyone is in a different time zone, and I honestly thought this was going to be a short quest. I did try and give the players time for RPing but for the most part they didn't seem to want to Zepher - I will get the NPC infos to you soonish. We hardly got any comments in the discussion thread, but I guess mostly because there was nearly no RPing. It was too bad Etzel had to leave 2/3 of the way through the quest, but sometimes life happens and we did the best to manage his missingness. If I forgot to address something you guys mention, just remind me and I will address it in a followup post. OH, right the fact that the events throughout the quest didn't seem to relate to the storyline.... Well yeah, they were just taking some boxes to someone and picking them up along the way. So, the idea was that we were following what happens along the way in all these different towns/areas. Most things were not related at all to the task/quest. Similar to the story of Huck Finn, I guess...things happen that don't necessarily have to do with the beginning and ending, they just happen along the way. The thing with the sorta head bad guys showing up at the end - well, it's suppose to have been a somewhat ill concieved conspiracy by Favarious so he could keep his artifacts. Obviously hiring thugs is not his strong suit, it didn't work out well for him. As for the leader of the guild in the sewer - he's on whoever's side pays him, just like most thieves. Apologies that my story ending wasn't as clear as it probably should have been, sometimes it does get difficult to do things in a way that those outside my head will understand - in addition to the fact that the whole thing lasted around 2 months longer than I had expected it would.

Well, quest #27 is over. Thank's players and readers and hope you all enjoyed! I guess if you have comments about the quest now, they'd have to go into the Questmasters Lounge topic.

"This is not going to be easy to fix. I'll have to take it to the House of Ziegfried and I'm sure pay heftily for repairs." He takes the silent Timekeeper and walks over to the main counter, pulls out a box with padding inside and places the object inside. He mumbles to himself as he does this and makes a note on a slip of paper which he sets on top of the box. "Well, I won't charge you this time for the damage, but please remember to be more vigilant with things in the future. Luckily it looks like no permanent damage and I will be able to get it repaired." He pulls out a bag of gold and hands it to Tesni. "Your reward, as promised. Unless you have anything else you'd like to discuss with me, I bid you a good day." -

"That's good to hear. Looks like I made the right decision with the team then." He takes the items from Tesni and inspects them before putting them away. "What...have you done to the Timekeeper? Why won't it wake up? I think I was very clear about how rare it is and that you should keep it safe." -
Great work, I read the whole thing! Perfect presentation too.

I don't usually comment on these, but that was so awesome that I had to say BRAVO!

Heroica RPG - Quest #27: Badger Badger Badger
Darkdragon replied to Darkdragon's topic in The Heroica Archive
The heroes rest in the cabin for the next two days, occationally emerging for some food in the galley. They stay away from fishing and mushrooms though, and the voyage completes without trouble. Landing back at the docks of Eubric, the party heads back to the shop of Began Drakes. It's mid afternoon when they arrive and they are able to walk right into the shop. "Ah you made it back in one piece! Looks like you've seen Favarious. I recognize that armor. My my my, I am surprised he would let you take those items. He spent his life collecting artifacts. Speaking of amazing rare items, I trust you have mine?" -
I'm needing more than one male head style for Friends minidolls. Well, the problem is that there is only one male minidoll (so far, right TLG?). So instead of having clones, I decided to do some slight print modifications to the heads to make them slightly different. The first one I did tonight is to remove the beard. Now anyone who has minidolls may have noticed that the shape of the heads makes them a bit difficult to pick up. At least for me, they fly out from between my fingers and roll all over the place. To rectify this situation, I decided to create a jig to hold the head. It worked really well, so I figured I'd share it with you all. If you try it yourself, let me know how it works out for you! Started with this Here's the final product To set up the jig, the top is removed... Slide the head onto the bottom support... Replace the top... Slide the head up until it clicks. Here are the parts used. The palisade brick is important because of the curve of the head, you need that indent. Here's what it looks like from the back before putting the plate on.

I have one sitting on my counter right now! That's the sad part.
-
YES! Thank you. I don't know why that was escaping my mind.
-
Nice job. I'd love to see some more closeup photos of the different scenes. My favorite is the archer on the roof. Really nice fig and pose on the one.
-
So awesome. My favorite is the room with the grinding chalice (why can't I think of the right word) and the basket This is TO cool. Just want to add that the chandelier is great, I've seen it done a few times with wagon wheels but using that waterwheel side (really I forgot another word?) looks perfect.

(Since you haven't signed in for 3 days, KHorne, we will just continue) The party continues on to the Port and arrives there around sunset the next day. The shops are still open, but they pass them by again. As they are heading toward the ship, a familiar figure runs up. "Tesni! Namyrra! Glad to see you again! I've had a very interesting last few days, I think that it was fate for me to leave the party for a while. I know I have saved a lost soul this time. How was your task, did you find Sir Favarious and give him all the boxes? I see you have some nice new gear on, are those the artifacts?" The cleric rejoins with the party as they head to the ship. Giving the first mate the tickets, they board and head back to the cabin they remember so well. I'd like to have the Licensed set box seals issue addressed. We all know its easy to peel the tape up without damage to the box, which causes thieves to be able to swipe all the minifigs and return the set to the store where it goes back on the shelf and some unlucky person buys an expensive set with no figs (or in some cases full of junk and no lego set). Yesterday, however, I had something horrible happen to me. I picked up Queen Anne's Revenge which was new, I had just bought it. Both seals failed on one side when I picked it up the flap opened and everything fell out of the box! This is a very expensive set for all the parts (some of which are not bagged) and instructions to just fly out onto the ground. These boxes are super-slick shiny. Moreso than the non licensed sets. They need a different kind of closure. I think these sets should go back to the glued end flaps. Thanks for listening.

Cinna sits a table in a dark corner of a dark tavern after waving goodbye to her friend and watching him head toward the ship where he will no doubt rejoin the others. She orders a plate of hot mutton stew and one last mug of ale in preperation for the two-day journey back accross the water. Glancing out the window occationally to see if the group has boarded yet, she knows she can't head to the ship until they are safely aboard. She's not ready to face everyone else, but soon things will be better again. The last few days spent talking to the cleric have removed most of the dark cloud that had invaded her mind, and the future was finally starting to look hopeful again. The server brings over her bowl of stew and mug of ale. As she's setting it down in front of Cinna, there is a little *pop* and small puff of pink smoke. Something small and pink floats down and rests uppon a sizable chunk of mutton. The server seems not to notice and roughly tosses the bowl on the table, turning away with a grunt, as usual. Carefully, Cinna reaches down and pulls the pink slip out of the stew before it gets too soaked with juices. "A lottery? How interesting. Well, I should be back in time for the announcements." She signs her name on the slip and sends it off. Things really are starting to look better now.

The party makes haste to Havelstam. The sun is still below the horizon as they reach the city, and they decide to rest nearby for a while. After a solid night's sleep with nobody trying to steal boxes from them, they awaken refreshed and energized. Will the party do any shopping today or head for the Port? -

The team heads out of the strange man's mansion with thier new artifacts securely fastened. Bocaj heads out with them mumbling about the fact he's missed his delivery and might as well go to bed now. Once the pearl gates are shut behind them, Bocaj hands Namyrra the dagger. "Yes of course. Here you go, good as new. I didn't want to give it back until we were out of there, too many surprises for this old man to take. You folks have a safe voyage home, and if you're ever in town again I hope you'll stop by my shop. You have a permanent 10% discount with me anytime. Just don't ask me to show you around town, I don't think I could take the battles." He chuckles wearily and heads back down the road toward town.
