Actually, the company has been making these style figures long before TLG made Friends figures.

What do you do with your sets/MOC once you've built them?
Darkdragon replied to hellopike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Normally I tear things down as soon as I finish getting photos. If I build it for Brickworld, then I usually tear down at the end of the convention (and so far forget to take any pictures first). -
I hate to say it, but I think the instructions here are unclear and I don't see a mention of posting in the new topic. Maybe you linked the wrong picture?

Darn you BC, you are just too quick! Pandora & Rufus: This whole project is so amazing. This little icon is not even enough, but It was so fun to see it at BW and all the details are just great. Super job on getting so many pictures to show us all everything here, I could use a lesson on how to photo mocs so people will appreciate them. Can't wait to see what you'll have in store for us next year!

The heads for the CB figures really remind me of Jack Stone figs. As a matter of fact, they look very similar when placed on a minifig body. Compare these two pictures, for example.

Review: 9465 The Zombies
Darkdragon replied to Multiverse's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
A fun review to read. Thanks for putting it together I will for sure be buying a couple copies of this set. The figs are just great and so are the special parts. Finally now that Monster Fighters has arrived, we can all afford a zombie army! Just as a small critique, hope you don't mind, try to get some more light to the front of the minifigs when you take those closeup photos. That way it's easier for us to see the details. -
Well, it seems everyone is jumping on this collectable building figure polybag phenomenon. Character Building is usually considered a UK brand, and the licence holder for Doctor Who. I've always been curious about them, but not enough to import some figures. Today at Toys R Us, in the "non lego" area, I spoted some familiar-looking yellow packets. When I saw they were CB, I had to pick a couple up to check them out. The price is good at $1.99, but once I opened the packet, I was a bit disappointed by most of what I found. Here's the front & back of the packet, looks very much like the LEGO version. One notable difference is that the CB series only has 12 figures, so that's less money for parents to spend on the figures as well as less to collect the whole set (in theory). The contents. We have poster, base, legs, torso, head/helmet, and visor. Yes, the head/helmet is one piece molded and painted. Here are the instructions. What's interesting is they indicate the "rarity" of each figure right on the poster. Pretty helpful for collectors, I'd think. Seems like a lot of wasted space on the poster though. I grabbed two packets, hoping to get two different figures but I got two of the same lame race-car driver. I was hoping for a night or ninja, but knowing that the helmets and head are one part, I might not even bother trying to find one. Here's the whole thing put together. Now for some thoughts on the actual product. The things I like about it are the price, $1.99 is the sweet spot and I wish LEGO had not strayed from it themselves. The base is really neat too, it's got a cool shape and embossed logo. I noticed on the one that came with my figure it has what looks like a wheel painted on it, so that got me thinking that maybe the base is unique to each figure. I think that's a really cool little touch to make them a bit more collectable, I'm sure many of us have hundreds of those CMF 3x4 modified tile in black and wish for other colors once in a while. This might not be everyone's view, but as a photographer I really appreciate the dull finish of these figures. It was so much easier to snap relatively clean photo of this guy compared to the ultra-shininess of a LEGO minifigure. Not to say I dislike shiny, but when it comes to quick photos - that can be a problem. Last but not least, the legs. What can I say other than: Why didn't TLG do a similar design for Friends minidolls? Each leg moves independently and yet it has the same shapeliness and similar footprint of a Friends minidoll. I really like the leg design on these figures. My only complaint about these legs are that they are about a plate too short compared to the torso. It makes the figure look kinda strange, but that seems to be the CB "look" just like the non-shape of the classic LEGO minifigure is the TLG "look". Will I collect these? No, I definitely will not. Has this adventured turned me off of CB figures? Nope! I think I will see if I can hunt down a set of Doctor Who figures for a decent price now that I know what the quality is like. Here are some comparisons with LEGO minifigures and minidolls. The good news is that the heads are interchangeable and so are the weapons/accessories. That's it though.

Hope you manage to get all your lego home to alaska though.

Do all those parts actually exist in those colors? If not, that makes it very difficult for non-LDD QMs to use the character for anything.
-
Tanma, just out of curiosity did you PM the QM first before calling out in here? Seems like that could save some questions and problems, no? If I ever do something that offends any player/QM/Sandy, I always hope that they will PM me first. For one thing a complaint in here could get lost. I know there are whole pages of this thread I have missed while I was at Brickworld, for instance.

Those look great, that's some great parts combinations there. They really look elite as a personal guard team should. -
Wow Cara, This has the be the best microscale castle work I've every seen. Bravo! Your micro city on the hill is very similar to what I had as a concept too, glad to see it would have worked out if I'd actually built it

"Well I hope it's all just a mistake and you can be happy once more. This is the Anniversary Medal from the lottery, accorning to the information about it, it makes the wearer stronger, tougher, and able to cast more magic. I can already feel the strength, but as far as toughness and magic, I'll have to wait for the next battle to find out. " Finishing her ale, she stands up. "I must be off now. I am way behind I training and need to buy some supplies in case I'm chosen to help find that missing child. I'm glad I found you both in here and hope we meet again soon." Cinna heads out of the hall and toward the training room. The time has come to face her fears and The Copper Fox.

"Yeah, that's so true. I heard someone died on a quest, is that true? I've seen people come close but never dreamed we could die. It really makes me worry for the people I know that are out on quests right now."

She jumps when Boomingham slams yet another blade onto the table, but smiles nonetheless as he seems excited by his realization. She places the amulet around her neck and ties the ribbon tightly. Her smile widens as she feels the power from the amulet radiate through her body. "Wow, Law...er Boomer. I feel stronger already. I'll have to be careful and keep the amulet safely tied at all times." Taking another sip of ale, she nearly throws the mug when she lifts it, surprised by her own strength. "Who convinced me to come back to Eubric? Why, it was Maurice, the cleric, I'm not sure if you've met him? I spent some time with him down in Mistaria recently. I was in a sort of dark place, and he walked me out of it. He is a very wise man, and very kind in his own way. Tell me, what has happened to your friend, Nyx you said? I don't think I have met her."
