  1. Aaaaaaand the 3 mode steering doesn't work. I feel utterly defeated.
  2. I still need a fair amount of parts, and the only Technic piece vendor in my country is not in my city. They say there's no guarantee that the parts will arrive on August 21st. Even if I pick the parts from my current collection of sets, there are some parts that don't exist in there, which means I will have to buy another couple of sets just to get those parts. I already have to spent money on the NASA and the Huracan, which are not the sets I intend to buy in the beginning but I only bought for this competition. I'm not in the mood for buying a couple of more sets just to have enough parts to get this done by August 21st. Working on this set is fun, by getting the parts especially in a race against the deadline is not fun. The latter starts sucking the fun out of this experience. I dont know what to do next.
  3. Apparently there is also one part that is rarer than I thought: the rims in red. Even though it appears in many other themes as well, I only collect Technic sets, and the only Technic set in which that the rim has appeared in red is: Gotta make a trip to the toy store tmr
  4. Sets acquired: I managed to reduce the required number of 7L flipflop beams to 2, and the NASA set has 2, so I got that set instead of the Yamaha bike.
  5. I ordered parts yesterday but the order hasnt even been shipped. There goes my plan A. I think I'll have to move to plan B ASAP. This would require me to take parts from various sets to build the model. Most of the parts I used are common parts that can be found in other sets, and I have enough sets to pick from. The only new parts that I use in the model are: - 1x Panel #7 and 1x Panel #8 (micro panels) in Lime. - 4x flip flop liftarm in Black. For the panels, I will definitely have to buy the Lamborghini Huracan because they only appear in that set. The problem is which set to buy for the 4x flip flop beam in Black. The only sets so far that have that piece is the Perseverance, the Yamaha Bike, and the Audi. None of them has 4 of that pieces. The Perseverance and Audi have 2, while the Yamaha has 1. If I allow DBG as well then the Audi and the Yamaha can supply more than enough. I like the Audi but not the C+ version so I dont wanna buy the stock version. I think I'll get the Yamaha bike.
  6. I want prizes too but I dont know when the parts will arrive
  7. I still kinda dont get it. You can send requests for prizes first and end contests later, why not?
  8. Just curious, what does the request for prizes have to do with the winning entries. If not, can't they be handled indepedently?
  9. I'm gonna order express from Bricklink. The shipping time is 2-5 days. Hopefully it wont take 5 days...
  10. My design philosophy is that if it can be done then it shall be done!
  11. It's one week til deadline and I think I need to redo the whole chassis. Panik panik panik!!
  12. Actually I have figured out the way to move the rear hitch knob one stud back, so I already managed to move the turntable back one stud. Now I only have to redesign the cabin.
  13. I created a copy and moved the turntable back one more stud, then redid the steering system and the whole supporting structure. I then pulled the cabin for a swing. The cabin will block the steering mode selector and hit the knob for the rear hitch as well as interfering with even more structures around it. I think I'll drop this direction and go back to the previous iteration as the finalized design.
  14. The design phase is complete. Initially the next phase is to acquire the parts and build the real thing. But there is one thing I'm still not quite satisfied with. The cabin when turned doesnt go as far as it should be. According to the real model it should go as far as the right end of the tractor. In order to achieve that the turntable has to be moved back by 1 more stud, which would interfere with a lot of structural parts and require a chassis redesign. I'll give this a try in a couple of days, but if I can't find the solution I'll go with the first photo.
  15. Took a break from designing to work on instruction. This would ensure that my model is actually buildable and the building experience is rewarding. Made some little changes here and there during the process. The only thing left is design is the cabin.
  16. Does this mean jury voting is the only mode or does this mean there will be jury voting in addition to popular voting? Any bonus point for certain contest starters and tractor builders
  17. That day will come, cuz I'm itching for the real build too. But I need to finalize the design first.
  18. I added the front part under the hood. It's a very tight space, being only 3L wide, 3L tall, 4L deep, and have to serve multiple purposes. The must be a structural block going through them to support the backbone and the front attachment. I also want to put some fake engine details into that space. But certain cells are off limits because they accommodate the steering movements. In the end this is what I decided to with. There is a space of one stud between the grey supporting liftarms and the hood when closed, so I want to put something in there. Originally I wanna put a fan, because of this image. But there are only a couple of fans, wheel covers, and discs that fit the 1L deep 3L wide and 4L tall. The fan piece I like the most is this part, but it doesnt fit. So I ended up just mimicking the black grill wall.
  19. Whipped up the hood. I'm very pleased with how the shaping turns out to be. I managed to capture the curve line on the side that flows around the front wheel just like the real thing without having to use flex axle. It's too blocky for my taste but at this scale there is little else that I can do. At least I managed to make the shape recognizable.
