Winter Village Sets - Rumours and Discussion
finish-last replied to Gearslover01's topic in LEGO Town
Enough time for TLG to expand the cardboard strength to 4cm and include a 300 piece set to reach the 1.3 kg. -
I just increased the coal cart with 2 studs and put the 9v Motor under it.

[PRESS RELEASE] Announcing 10254 Winter Holiday Train

The bigger passenger car helps a lot, this version could compete with 10173. How much is the piece count now? The length would be a half circle right? -
Indeed, but I don't want a second motor under the coal cart, I would make something like this to power the motor directly. The video that I saw was this here: A strange man in his barn...
-
I meant like geeting the power of the old metal tracks directly into the new pf train motor, so you don't need the IR receiver or battery box. I found a video on youtube where someone uses the old axles in a new motor and it runs, so it is possible to use the voltage. So you have red wheels in the train and the power comes from the coal cart custom-wheels, all running in an old track setup, great!
-
Does anyone know if the pf train engine in compatible (voltage and how it "works") with the old 9V power supply? To clarify it, would it be possible to use something like this... http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=936292 ... in the coal cart to power the pf train motor with the old 9v power supply? So you can use the red wheeled engine without the batterybox and IR just simply with the old 9V setup?

Maybe Eurobricks can make this the new "Winter Village Contest 2016". Extend the train with a self designed passenger car. -
If you want IR controlled yes but I assume you can bypass it with a switch too, haven tried it though: http://shop.lego.com...rol-Switch-8869

I just realized that the coal cart is only 8 studs long? The 10173 one was 12 right? So we have to extend it, if we want to place the old 9v motor in it. The 9v with the black wheels would look bad with the big red wheel, any other ideas? -

Nothing, it's the official site, maybe that's the new christmas green. So you need: $12.99 LEGO-Power-Functions-IR-Speed-Remote-Control-8879 $14.99 LEGO-Power-Functions-IR-Receiver-8884 $12.99 LEGO-Power-Functions-AAA-Battery-Box-88000 $13.99 LEGO-Power-Functions-Train-Motor-88002 -

Ah I see, in the black version is the PF in the coal cart, so the motor must be in the train, so with pf there is no interior in the engine itself right? I think old 9v will be the better looking choice then. -

Any reason why the engine's front bogie has different axle colors in the photos? On the back of the box in the upper right they are black. See here: and here: Maybe just random... -
Winter Village Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Well Rick, you know how this topic started right? I give you a hint: Does this qualify as a rumour or baseless speculation? Anyway I want that damn candy shop... Hmmmm, well I'm unsure. Really. -
Winter Village Sets - Rumours and Discussion
finish-last replied to Gearslover01's topic in LEGO Town
Well actually I posted it while the discussion about the train was ongoing in its thread before it got deleted. Since this is the rumours and discussion place... But OK, just send me a pm after you bought it, I'll bring up the 2017 question the next day. -
In 10173 I placed it in the coal cart with an extra lego weight for more traction. I assume it's possible to do it here too. Lego's original guide for the old train is here: http://cache.lego.com/bigdownloads/buildinginstructions/U-4086.pdf

Winter Village Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Last time it was revealed on 18.08.2015, the year before around 09.08. So I assume it will be around that date this year too. Within 10 days maybe. If you're surfing all day long, you can make http://cache.lego.co...GO/10254?$leaf$ as your browsers startpage. If it changes from the little people to a chooo chooo you can check lego.com for the release. Just like it did last year with this... http://cache.lego.co...GO/10249?$leaf$ -
Winter Village Sets - Rumours and Discussion

They didn't reject the idea but I fear they will... https://ideas.lego.com/projects/87051 Lego should just go to eBay and buy Kritels instructions for this one: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=78414 That could please all the WV people I suppose. Well I would buy it as a set. -
So no christmas presents for them? That will teach them. After the first shock, I came to the conclusion that I at least like the streetlamp. I can confirm that my 6yr old girl likes it too. (The train, not the streetlamp) If you wait for something for a long time it's hard to keep the expectations down on a realistic level.

Why is there a technic wheel in the cart? Does it make the christmas tree spin? hm. Maybe there's a Santa that goes up and down ;) I think it's a bit higher than the last cart, it should fit, since it is already higher than the last cart in the original set.

Winter Village Sets - Rumours and Discussion
finish-last replied to Gearslover01's topic in LEGO Town
The train looks like a remake of the original train only smaller, no passanger waggon, way smaller. So I can skip it this year. So... can we speculate now what the 2017 set will be? I *heard* its a candy shop. -
Sammael is right, it's the second year, that they obviously don't want my money. If it looked more like a train like in 79111 Lone Ranger I might have bought it, but since I already have 10173 Holiday Train, there is just nothing special in it. A facelifted downsize of 10173. 79111 boxes are on Amazon for sale for 111 used & new from $130.00 so maybe its better to mod one of those. Maybe next year... maybe next year.

Winter Village Sets - Rumours and Discussion
finish-last replied to Gearslover01's topic in LEGO Town
$140 seems realistic For a Christmas tree track we need 16 curved rail tracks. $149 for 60051 and it includes 16 curved rail and 4 straight tracks that we actually dont need. http://shop.lego.com/en-US/High-speed-Passenger-Train-60051 I wouldn't expect super details for that amount of money. I'd rather see more "train" like in 10173 and the power functions should be optional. A winter village train station should be an extra set with lots of details. No one expects a trump tower for $140 to make the winter village great again. -

I bet we get a remake of last years Toy Shop. Now brandnew without a light brick.
