It seems inevitable that Nexo Knights will at least get a fun pack for LEGO Dimensions due to the LEGO Universe comparisons. Ninjago's success can't last forever and LEGO wants to find a successor. Nexo Knights seems to have more potential than Chima did in filling that role.

It would be weird to see LEGO pick up another license that was previously done by K'NEX. K'NEX Grumpy Sparrows was a bland recreation of the game in physical form. A different route was taken with K'NEX Plants vs Zombies. Individual plants and zombies are sold in blind bags like the CMF line with only a few K'NEX Plants vs Zombies sets on shelves. Lara Croft works much better because one of the signature weapons in the most recent game was a bow. Furthermore, Lara Croft has fought dinosaurs (raptors and T-Rex) in the first Tomb Raider game. Due to critiques about animal cruelty, Lara Croft also has access to a tranquilizer gun in Tomb Raider Underworld. Thus, Lara Croft is easy to adapt into a character for the dinosaur themes that LEGO has made in the past. I have high expectation for the pizza delivery guy. I remember sometime last year talking to people in my LEGO store about a pizza delivery guy for CMF since the classic pizza tile is in need of a update. The classic pizza tile was made yellow due to the limited amount of colors in production. The things you could do with printing was also limited at the time. These days, tan is a standard color and printing is much more detailed. A new mold for a pizza is unnecessary. A 2x2 round tile will suffice. This leaves more money in the budget for creating a pizza box that could have other uses.

You don't have to strictly stay with the iconic buildings to make a Simpsons set. A Simpsons superhero set could be fun. Homer as Pie Man, Bart as Bartman, Lisa as Clobber Girl, and Milhouse as Fallout Boy has a lot of possibilities.

You missed one important aspect that is increasing the price. TLG is now making certain parts using more than one color of plastic. You will notice that the short sleeves on Homer, Bart, Krusty, Milhouse, Nelson, and Itchy are not achieved through printing. Two different colors were injected into the mold to create those arms. The same techique was used to create the shorts and shoes for for Bart, Lisa, Milhouse, and Nelson. I wouldn't be suprised if TLG used this technique again in the future since printing on certain colors of plastic will often result in distorted colors. I really like this series but I don't see how I can afford it right now. There are simply too many sets that I want this year such as Mixels, the LEGO Friends animal packs, and The LEGO Movie sets.

I suspect the cause is due to supply issues. TLG has seen tremendous growth over the past few years and the product catalog has likewise grown. The LEGO Movie has also created a lot of demand among non-enthusiasts. TLG probably didn't expect this minifigure series to sell out so quickly.
