wow! these look great!

Is that just O Gauge rail? I would think you could have more luck for production value by making something more like this: Then produce the clips to join the rails. This way you are just bending rails into different radii for the curves but using readily available rail. The turnouts will be harder but I think instead that those could be purchased for 3D printing and then adding rails that would be cut to fit the turnouts. I know that there would be some concerns to get the track to be powered but with the cost of 9V motors rising then the need for that will be less and less overtime. I am more interested in having big turnouts for my yard and the "real" looking metal rails. Im sure we could find someone on alibaba or similar to make a batch of a few thousand for a decent price. If people are wanting to have this system interface with the regular LEGO rails, then a base would need to be made and the rails would need to be filed so that they have tabs that are able to touch the tabs from the LEGO rails. This will transfer the power to the rails.

Lego Turning Radius compared to Real Life or G-Scale Models
supertruper1988 replied to edsmith0075's topic in LEGO Train Tech
The biggest part of this is choosing a scale to work in. There are a few guys that build in 8 wide but that makes for some very expensive projects as they are all MOC builds. You should checkout railbricks.com. They have some good articles for building more realistic model trains. -
Those look really nice! Are you going for a particular model or is it a custom design?

I got all the PM's thank you! I have a build ready to go. I hope its not a problem that I can only build in LDD for now. I have a large lego collection but it resides at my parent's house until my wife and I can buy our own place. I also would like to add the Andromeda's Gates graphic to my signature. How do I add it with my name and credit count?

I would like to sign up as a pilot I will be Cameron Miller. Here is my sig fig:

AG - Introduction and Discussion

Hello, I would like to join but I have never done something like this before. Do I just say I want to build for kawashita as a pilot? Then I build each week? Are there limits to what I can build each week? I see that builds are scored so does a good score mean I can build the following week? Sorry for all the questions. Thanks for your time! -
Here is the thread for the sports cars http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=89241 There are a bunch in there and I think most of them look awesome! Dutchiedoughnut - Can you share your LDD file for your latest version?
-
Oh wait I found them! Here is what I put them on. Thanks to IMVANYA for the great sports car design I used to show scale.

Those look great! The 4 wide cab still looks a little strange to me because I have all mine a 6 wide haha What those rims you are using for the read wheels?

I changed the wind screen and added the heafty mirrors. I really really like it now:

Train video from Latlug display at "Unicon 2015"

Your friend is a very skilled builder. I will definitely be borrowing some of his vehicle techniques! -
Looks really nice! I used to build in a similar style so these are very nostalgic for me. Do you happen to know which set had the windscreen you used on the white fighter?
-
I got it working! I didnt see that you had updated the first post since I last checked. Another question, how do I make the renders less shinny/reflective? In this example I know the road plates are not this reflective in real life and the side of the truck shouldn't have a reflection of the road plate.
-
I love this software. Would it be possible to add a Render Queue? I have an older machine so renders can take up to 5 minutes for simple models and so I would like to set it to render a few at a time whilst I do other things around the house. And I have read forwards and back, does this work on mac at all? I have a mac that I use as a media server so having it render in the back ground would be easy to do.

Did up a couple more trailer combos. I love trucks and all the associated equipment so I can see my city being very truck centric when I have space for my layout. First up is a Heavy Haul Low Boy Trailer. I made it to be 8 wide because these trucks usually haul oversized loads here in the US. Next is a couple of local freight trailers in a train similar to the FedEx and UPS trucks used for local delivery. This last one is a scene of some container trucks and some box trucks next to my 8 Wide intermodal train.
-
That looks great! I will see what I can do to get a 7 wide bumper on the modern looking trucks. I know that the older 80's style one has a slightly narrower bumper. I really like your mirrors too! Thanks for the helpful suggestions!

[MOC] 8 Wide Train cars (Intermodal, Box, Flat)
supertruper1988 replied to supertruper1988's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Thank you! Thats too bad. I will have to do some tests when I have time and money. I already plan to remove the rubber band maybe I will have to put some grease in them. -

[MOC] 8 Wide Train cars (Intermodal, Box, Flat)
supertruper1988 replied to supertruper1988's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Oh yes and it also makes my wife happy  I think this is from my render the reflections have a blue tine from the "sky" That cant be seen here. Sure I will get it later today for you. -
That looks pretty good but the front wheels are at 7 studs wide and the rear set are at 6 wide. Thats why the buildup for the rear axles was so fragile.
-
do you guys have a time frame to realease the next version? I really like this but I dont like the dark glass.

I am really having fun "building" my collection in LDD. I wish I had space to build in my apartment but alas a virtual collection will have to do. I have been building in the 2 Plates = 1 Foot scale and I really enjoy the realism I can attain, Here are some train cars I made. I want to tackle a Loco next but I havent decided what to use as a prototype. The first one I did is a 50' (40 Stud) Flat Car: I then basically added sides and doors to make a box car: I then decided to ramp up may game a lot. I have always been fascinated with intermodal container cars and Spline cars so I tried my hand at a 5 section intermodal container car. Each bay holds a 40' (32 Stud) container. The longer stacked ones are 53' (42 Stud) containers. I borrowed the truck design from Cale Leiphart in an early RailBricks issue. I modified it to use the power functions wheels instead of building an axle by disassembling the existing axle assembly. I really like it for a more American style of building instead of European prototypes.

I did up a 40' dump trailer and used some crane pieces to make the dump action be more realistic.
