  1. Oh wow fair enough then, I actually didn’t know any that. Hopefully fans have seen design manager Samuel Johnson’s tweet on the topic and will make and support more Bionicle projects in the future and not give up hope. I can definitely see where the community is coming from now.
  2. Lego Ideas seems like it is Lego’s way of being able to sell products to audiences who may not usually buy Lego, therefore the product choices are usually more adult/teen oriented and therefore they tap into either nostalgia or making Lego builds that are more “serious” for lack of a better word. The former is the case for Seinfeld and Home Alone (two of the most well known pieces of media that get mentioned on social media and in real life year after year, especially by millennials). The latter is the case for the typewriter as it falls into the same category as the Maze set or the piano or even the ship in a bottle where it is Lego that is displayable and workable. It is more along the lines of Lego as a medium of art. I am not a fan of those sets but I’m sure Lego has the stats to show they sell well and sell well with a group they may be trying to target. Bionicle was fun while it lasted but constraction themes sadly don’t seem to sell too well in the modern era of Lego; if they did we would have them. Hopeful Bionicle fans’ reasoning for it getting chosen was that Lego wouldn’t need to get a new IP (which is weird because Lego has no problem getting one for Ideas sets) and that it would test the waters for a Bionicle return. There was a Bionicle return in 2015 and it went under again, what could have changed in 5 years time? Also, the Home Alone set is so well designed, I was very happy when it hit 10K and now when it got approved.
  3. Just realized from Ashnflash’s video that the mystery tile is cylinder head Tony was fixing on his hot rod in Iron Man 1. I suppose it could also be the head gasket since its just a 1x2 tile so its really thin.
  4. No problem, and same here but probably with the comics Mary Jane hair instead of the rubber Friends one. It almost looks like the arms are meant to go with the movie figure, it makes BW look more like how she does in the movie poster. I think the MK2 is pearl silver, the same color as the stud shooters on the hot rod. As for the other 2 questions, I’m not sure. The 3D printers a good call, I just thought it was a specialized display since the suit is so much smaller than the others. The tile is confusing me too. Is it a remote for the lab? Is it a remote key for the car? Is it some kind of computer chip Tony’s in the process of programming?
  5. I’m very back and forth with this theme, but after seeing the reviews, I find it very hard to believe that kids will enjoy playing with these more than once or twice and want all the expansions. Seeing Just2Good use the Boomer Bills set play feature made me realize how not fun it really is. Its either far too easy or too hard to be fun depending on whether you place Mario on the studded side versus the tiled side. I truly cannot see anyone having hours of fun with these compared to a regular $10 Lego City set Integrating tech into physical toys is many companies’ current strategy of trying to be a part of the digital age that we will always continue to be in and compete with phones and video games, but those are so convenient and require no real set up unlike these sets. Not to mention how the box art is all one color. Every time Lego uses a solid colored background its either meant for an older, adult audience like they are doing with some expensive collector sets this year; or their Educational line of sets for schools. They probably figured it would help sets stand out and help parents see the value in all that they are getting in the set, but I think its sending mixed signals to kids and they will probably associate it with school or learning and not fun and play. (Not saying learning can’t be fun but it just doesn’t seem to be the goal for kids with these sets). The best parts of this line right now for people who wanted it to be minifigure scale are the Banzai Bills, the finish line Castle, the finish line flag(s), Mario’s house, the power-up blocks, the arrow signs, and the prints on the front of the Thwomp. Those are all awesome. The Blooper blind bag build is also really nice as a display with its underwater coral feature, but everything else is either too big or two square.
  6. Don’t know if its been mentioned here already but Lego has been selling polybags on their site recently and one of them is The Lego Batman Movie Disco Batman/Tears of Batman one. Its $3.99, pretty great deal especially if anyone missed out on it. Much better than ebay and even Bricklink prices. As I recall it was a GwP. https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/disco-batman-tears-of-batman-30607?CMP=AFC-AffiliateUS-oSv/vWYkQIY-2014326-115554-30607
  7. For sure. I especially like that they made whats inside each floor pretty easily removable to let buyers customize whats inside. This set has definitely grown on me. Does anyone know what those small metallic things are meant to be near the hinges on each floor? Security cameras? If so that is pretty cool for some reason
  8. True, they were probably looking at this and got lazy with the reactor so they went with a repeat torso. And after a quick search I realized the Prototype armor is named that in the game too and looks fairly accurate.
  9. I would welcome comic AIM figures with open arms. Especially if they looked really good. Its the same reason I didn’t mind so many Outriders in the last 2 years. As for the Armory. I really like the hot rod build and its creative use of stud shooters in the front. The colors and transition to the flames looks really clean. Tony Stark’s shirt is definitely inspired by the game just without the arc reactor, which would’ve been cool if they included it. But, even though the “MK2” looks nice and I might try and get the new Rescue, I still can’t see myself adding the new figs to my own HoA MOC because of the helmets.
  10. Rescue is my favorite aspect of these sets. The bright red and shiny silver contrast is amazing. Looks accurate to the comics, might have to Bricklink it. Not a fan of the MCU suits with comic helmets. I understand why they did it but its gotta be one or the other imo like Pepper or the Invincible Iron Man. Blue Steel I might have to make an exception though because it looks so unique with the color and shoulder pads, but probably won't make it into my HoA. Hulkbuster was good looking until the awful helmet. That said, it still might be my favorite set of the wave. Avengers Tower just looks like the many, many so-so MOCs I've seen of the original version.
  11. I like the shaping of the top of the helmet and the shaping of the face plate with all the gold, but it kind of falls apart towards the bottom “jaw” part because the angled red pieces make it look too thick. Taking them off and only leaving the thickness of 1 angled red plate on each side might make it look better. Regardless, not a fan of what it is for the price so I can’t see myself buying it.
  12. I remember his sketches on Flickr, they’ve always been so good. I’m glad he became a designer this theme is a surprise but really great so far.
  13. Love this set! Black Widow with great arm and leg printing and dual molded legs for Falcon are all I needed to order it day one
  14. I just meant that because it is a Hall of Armor expansion set, I want more armors to be included than any other figures, such as villains or civilians, in the set. A new villain is definitely possible and welcome especially if its someone long awaited from Phase I like Iron Monger
  15. I think they definitely improved on the hands and chest areas on that one. Figure selection was also on point. Because its a Hall of Armor expansion I hope it lives up to the name and has like 3 armors and 1 cool non-AIM Agent villain. And since FalconFan said people should be happy with it I hope that means its MCU helmets with maybe 1 comic helmet for an armor that could use it (like the MK 40 Shotgun Armor). Maybe the builds could be the rumored hot rod Tony has and 4 slots for the suits. It also be would be awesome if we got a MK 85 repeat in the set the same way the MK 50 was repeated in the original Hall, but I'm not going to hold my breath for that or anything else. With Lego doing so much in recent years (building the China factor, the Lego House in Billund, the soon-to-be opened NY Legoland, etc.) they need to pass on the cost to the consumer somehow so they do it with every theme, but especially ones that they know sell imo (City, CMF, Superheroes, etc.). Monkie Kid also had a lot of R&D (like Mario) to get it ready for the Chinese Market, so that might have something to do with it. Sorry for the random aside on Lego's finances.
  16. Maybe if they use the Sanctum Sanctorum window piece as the torso so you can seat Iron Man inside it would look good, albeit wide. Using the usual Hulkbuster half-circle head piece might look odd with it though. I just hope it doesn't end up looking like one of those bodybuilders who are wide but have a weird gut with abs on it. As a head though the 6x6 window would look awful. That said, I don't think they've made a better Hulkbuster than the first one. What a set that was. Even the UCS one wasn't great, its proportions were more akin to an actual Iron Man suit.
  17. A couple months back he posted the Ninjago Salvage M.E.C. and alluded to the Hulkbuster looking like that. So I don’t think its a Dr. Strange reference, just that that piece is gonna be a major part of the build probably with some Hulkbuster printing.
  18. Yeah, so long as the colors are the same as previous helmets and armors, thats a good solution. My bad, I didn't mean to sound entitled. I just meant that since Lego made a sticker of the Striker armor in the original HoA, it would be cool to have it in this set. As for Ashnflash's video, he also said that his source said Tony Stark's hot rod is coming in the set. Very interested to see what happens.
  19. Unless it comes with the MCU helmets, I really don't care about collecting the new Iron Man suits anymore. And thats coming from a collector from 2012 who has a good chunk of the suits. Even though the new torso and leg prints look nice, it's just not the same. Lego still owes us a Striker armor, which would be cool to put in this set, but we're definitely not getting that.
  20. Same here, I wish they brought that mold back but in dark gray for Infinity War Falcon. Hopefully these wings are at least printed and not stickers, there's something about stickers for minifigures, even if it is for their accessories, that irks me. As others have said, happy to be getting that Black Widow with her great arm printing potentially. Never liked Lego's AIM Agents but I'll take em.
  21. Rocket Raccoon polybag, AoU Hulk polybag, Ant Man and the Wasp SDCC set, Infinity War Bricktober set, and both the Captain Marvel SDCC set and polybag. Its definitely not too common for them to be as big as Civil War and Endgame tho. I personally hope its Falcon and Winter Soldier so we can finally get hooded Zemo but wouldn't be mad if we get White Widow and Red Guardian some how some way.
  22. Could it also be another Black Widow set that is more spoilery and was meant to come our after the movie? Speaking of Black Widow, as others have said her new torso is very good but pretty different with some armor and no skin showing. But they have her wrist things which is great!
  23. The Batmobile set might be my favorite build from this wave, but I feel like the helicopter window pieces in black that they use for the fenders that make the wheel well are going to accidentally keep touching the tire during play making the rolling feature sometimes useless. Unless there is some piece that keeps it from touching, it seems like it will be annoying for kids to play with.
  24. I think the biggest problem with the Helicarrier, besides the design of the rotors, is that the design doesn’t get thinner or sleeker as it goes forward. It having the same thickness throughout makes it look like a train with 4 propellors attached to its sides. There should either be some more angling before the front angled window or the front angled window should be pushed back a little and the deck and tarmac should hang over it by a few studs. No one is expecting it to be as elaborate as the UCS model but some similar techniques could have been employed.
