Hey, In case you've not been privy to the news, Lucasfilm has called the Star Wars: Clone Wars animated series to a close, apparently to make room for other projects. This will likely include Episode 7 but a new animated series has also been touted. Clone Wars is one of several projects put on the backburner including Star Wars: Detours (which I wasn't so keen on). You can read more about it on SFX and Den of Geek. FBTB and Rebelscum have also reported the news. What do you think of the news? On the LEGO front, The Clone Wars styled minifigs has seen many fans divided on their look and appeal. Personally, I felt some of the minifigs looked really good but overall I've not wholly been a fan of TLC's take on the animated stylings (I actually like the stylisations on the show), it just seemd like something had gone wrong in translation. As for the series itself, though inconsistent in the quality of the episodes there were many highlights throughout that were a joy to watch - especially some of the story arcs across multiple episodes. It's a shame that the series has ended early but Dave Filoni has assured fans that there will be further bonus content, likely to tie up any loose ends in my opinion.

Thanks VERY much for all your votes and congratulations to all the other winners. And thanks to the staff as ever for running such an awesome site and competitions! It's time for me to retire the Valkyrie, so many other sets were cannibalised for this entry (Helm's Deep will stand again!) but it was fun taking part and challenging to get the scene composition the way I wanted. As always, I wish I'd had just a little more time though - the cloud layer was a last minute addition as I felt the scene needed a context. The cloud scape could only be as large as the single tan baseplate I own, I'd have liked it to be much bigger... gave me a great excuse to build a Mynock though! Aw shucks! Thanks very much man. I really do appreciate it. Oh, and definitely a "he"! Address... sent!

Man, those are brilliant! Sang the song in my head as I read through... ;D Can't wait to see the rest (you are going to make the rest, yes?)!

A superb creation! The details are spot on and I love the fact you've included all that playability and those extra little vehicles - I'm a big fan of accurate 'system' built models. This really is the sort of quality TLC should be consistently hitting. +1 on Cuusoo!

JEK-14's starfighter happens to be an E-wing then. As far as LEGO E-wings go this is a pretty good take on it... maybe not so sure about the nose tip... but I REALLY wish it was grey or white, don't like the black colour scheme atball. Odd that this has been used in this setting too given where the E-wing makes it's debut in the EU timeline. The minifigs offer some real good options for customs / MOCs. All in all though, quite an exciting line up for summer. The figures are the real stars again - especially in Duel on Geonosis with Saruman... I mean Dooku, Yoda and Poggle. Super figures all. I missed the second version of the LAAT/i so will likely get this one, especially with the non-CW figures (has Padme got a little bit of a belly there?). Good to see Stass, Coleman and some of the crew in the sail barge too... though I have the previous version of the barge, will mean hitting BL for the minifigs. New Mandos look cool too, though I'm still making my way through Series 4 and haven't see them in action yet. I still haven't picked up the sets I want from the previous wave. Might have to be selective this year, especially with all the great sets in the other themes and further rumoured STar Wars exclusives. Need to take on an extra job! ;)

Thanks for the kind comments! Be interesting to see how they explain his escape from the Sarlacc... if they're continuing his story from the OT. It's adtually Asoka's head from the Prince of Persia theme. Nice beards face - works well for a Jedi too. ;)

E-wing starfighter at 0:47... don't recall anyone mentioning that?!

Really like the look of this. My only worry about this set was that it'd be somewhat kiddified but the engine and tender are very authentic looking with lots of detail. Love the colour scheme - as mentioned above very reminiscient of the Emerald Night. The carriages and water tower are nice enough additions and the minifig selection ain't half bad. I've not bought a LEGO train before now but I'll give this one some consideration.

Future of SW Contest (small category): Resurrection of the Emperor
pedro replied to Lobot's topic in Watto's Junkyard
Really nice entry Lobot! I love lighting: really conveys the atmosphere of the Emperor's secret lair. The orange globe looks the part as the plans for the Death Star III... it appears the Emperor is obsessivley persistent in his evil machinations! Best of luck in the contest.- 14 replies

Future of SW Contest (small category): A moment in Coruscant
pedro replied to naugem's topic in Watto's Junkyard
Hey naugem, nice entry - I think pushing the scale down in the background works really well here, looks really convincing. It's nice to have that extra narrative with Boba lurking in the shadows too. Good luck in the contest! -
Future of SW Contest: Yoda's Legacy (expanded 01/28/13)
pedro replied to ACPin's topic in Watto's Junkyard
Look at the size of that thing! Sorry, couldn't help the reference there! Really though, great work, really nice architecture and detailing too. Definately a first for the use of a planet and a LEGO torch in this context too! I really am jealous over the space and resuorces you have to build these scenes... Good luck in the contest. -
Nice to see a fun, tongue-in-cheek entry in this category Oky. Great diorama with tons of action going on.... highlight for me has got to be mainstage, with Luke and Mickey fighting it out in front of the Death Mouse. Classic! Good luck in the competition.

Future of SW Contest (Main): Ice Field Chase
pedro replied to maedhros1980's topic in Watto's Junkyard
Nice entry maehdros. Those Jedi starfighters look very cool - blending the features of various ships and tech you've created something unique yet atypically Star Wars and the details are spot on. Good job man. Best of luck in the competition.- 13 replies

The myock was a last minute addition to the scene actually. I thought it'd be cool to have some kind of beastie soaring through the clouds and a mynock seemed the best choice. I'd always contemplated building one before - was a fun little diversion. Maybe Anakin is onboard the Valkyrie manning the guns? ;) Whoever thought Darth Maul would be back... yet return he did! It's fun to speculate on the return of the original bad-boy bounty hunter and all round fan favourite. I'd considered giving him an iron hook for a hand as a result of being partially digested by the Sarlaac!

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away... The escape from Nar Shaddaa begins! The back of the diorama and the Valkyrie... From a captured speeder, Jacen Solo launches himself at the Imperial forces wielding lightsaber and The Force pushing stromtroopers into the polluted clouds below. He doesn't know what's going to hit him! With Luke in tow the Valkyire powers into the sky. THE PLAYERS Jacen Solo ambushes an unwary stormtrooper. Deflecting blaster-fire, Jaina Solo secures Luke's tether to the Valkyrie. Luke Skywalker, older, but ever as strong with The Force. The deadly Boba Fett makes a shocking appearance where the galaxy had once thought him dead! Trooper TK-2407 in pursuit of the enemy. Mynocks abound on Nar Shaddaa. The polluted skies have little effect on these vermin of the skies! The Valkyrie's pilot. My entry to the main section of The Future of Star Wars contest sees an older Luke Skywalker escaping the Imperial Remnant with the help of Jacen and Jaina Solo and the New Republic ship Valkyrie. It's been a hard slog getting this finished, dabbling in lots of different contruction techniques and a lot of trial and error over the course of several late nights. I've even been refering to my wife as the 'LEGO Widow' (thank you so much for your patience). I wanted to encapsualte everything I feel is quintessentially Star Wars: Spaceships! Speeder chases! Adventure! Daring rescues! Imperial entanglements! Wild creatures! Faces old and new! I hope I've managed to capture the spirit of Star Wars - and hope you think so too! Thanks for looking and best of luck with the contest everyone. Tonight, I'm having an early night... Brickshelf folder and all pictures live here when moderated.

Hey, Is it fine to use digital backdrops for our creations? Like this for example: Cheers.

Review 70000 Razcal's Glider.
pedro replied to Cardinal Brick's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Bizarrely enough this wee set seems to be pretty scarce on the shelves compared to many of the others... or maybe that's not so bizarre at all given that it's the cheapest Chima set on the street. Anyway, I managed to find a stock of 'em yesterday and picked one up. It doesn't disappoint and moreover provides a perfect army builder for the Raven faction. I'll very likely be picking up more of this one soon. :) -
Legends of Chima - Which faction are you?
pedro replied to pedro's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Given all the Bear and Rhino love I will add them into the poll! I've not seen the trailer mentioned above yet (link anyone?) was simply going by the current 2013 product line. I've added Bears first of all, but for some reason can't add another choice to the question (Moderator?). When I get that sussed I'll throw Rhinos into the mix. -
