  1. Cheers all for the feedback It was just a rough build to get some ideas into brick.....still not at where I won't it. Yes it does...I was just being lazy.....Better ? ..(still being lazy , note the bad photo shopping).
  2. A first attempt....needs refining and an interior, but maybe that'll be for the next build. I will re-shoot with figs but just wanted to get a straight shot for now.....comments? The Hobbit by Taz-Maniac, on Flickr
  3. Great stuff AnitaE Lorax, nice to see you having a crack at the Medieval era. Nice hight in the landscape, though the buildings could be a tad bigger ( I still have trouble getting the scale big enough) and I love the red apples....where did they come from? I'm not sure who started the flipper shingles but I know SlyOwl was doing it a long time ago.
  4. ♪ Don't pay the ferry man, until he gets you to the other side ♬.... Great stuff as usual mate, some really nice minifigs in those builds too.

  9. Some great ideas there Siren, Good to see some interest in this thread and the future of the history forum. Keep those ideas flowing guys.
  10. Built from the now dubbed "Grand Master" Derfel Cardarn's brilliant tutorial. Cheers again mate , always an inspiration! Not yet finished but I wanted to share. (waiting on more 1x1 round plates) A Derfel style build by Taz-Maniac, on Flickr
  11. Well paint me green and call me Gumby.....

  12. Cheers for the comments guys. @ Derfel Cardarn: it's really hard to get them to line up again and is only feasable as a technique if you add a backing for support...can you see your influence in the build?... I'm in the process of building something from your tutorial, Cheers for that.
  13. Sir Boldrick was more than just a little peeved to find he was not at the battle ground, he was lost again..... This small vig was built to try out 1x2 plate rock formation. Lost by Taz-Maniac, on Flickr
  14. First post updated with expanded build.
  15. Love the colours and shape The orange is nicely broken up by the bley and the hints of lime green work really well! It has a real chaos look whist still maintaining symmetry, well done.
  16. Happy Birthday KDM !
  17. Hey Anita!

  18. Wild West/ Cowboys and Indians : 1.
  19. My first non-minifig scale build. Bonsai by Taz-Maniac, on Flickr
  20. While it's great that you're reading over old threads and making use of the Index, bumping a three year old thread is not really a good idea when you have very little to add to the discussion. Be sure to read the site guidelines in my sig.
  21. I'll be your friend Izzy.....

  22. Each vig is a beauty in its own right, but with their powers combined they are a testament to your skill and originality. Great stuff mate . Hope to catch up again soon.
  23. Congrats Mr Web, it could not have happened to a nicer guy! A promotion that has been well and truly earned.
  24. Nice build, lots of great shapes happening here.
  25. So you've got a plot and some characters all nutted out and you're ready to start making your comic/film. The first thing to work out is where is the scene taking place? This shouldn't be that hard as you've probably got foot notes in your plot/script. The next step is to decide how many angles this scene will be shot from, the best way to get an idea of this is to sketch up a story board (you don't want to build more than you need and be temped to change the composition of the shot to capture parts of the scenery). Step 1: Sketch Up/Story Board Here is where you'll plan both the composition and scenery needed for each frame, it doesn't need to be too detailed (simple stick figures will do), but it will give you an idea of the perspective of the shot and exactly what you need to build. Don't forget to position your speech bubbles for a comic. Step 2: The Moc Up Set up your camera and characters (and any items important to the scene) according to your story board so that you know what's needed to fill out the shot, from here you can start to fill in the blanks, bearing in mind your speech bubbles will cover up parts of the scene. Step 3: The Build By now you should have a good idea of what you need to build to complete the shot, it's just a matter of realising it with LEGO bricks. Keep it simple, remember the back ground is not the focal point of the shot it's simply there to add a feel of the location. Here is an example of how back ground scenery can be effective and basic at the same time: If you would like to try this method, please do so in a new thread and I'll meet you there to lend any help I can....... You can do eet. If anything above needs clarification please let me know.
