Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors & Discussion
Huigberts Builds replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Love the new pictures. Really curious about the new Ollivander. He looks so colourful all of the sudden. Lockhart looks great as well. The expression is perfect. Just hope there's a second one. If icecream guy gets it so should he. The cape really saved the character though. And now I'm sure I will change the hair, his own book luckily doesn't use a real hairpiece, so the change wouldn't ruin that. Lucious looks good besides the face, just gonna swap it out for the old one. Also, as we all assumed, it appears one of the Sirius black posters (the white one) is hanging in Knockturn Alley on the F&B wall (if that hadn't been mentioned yet). I'm so excited. Can't wait to get my hands on this. I think I'll wait until October or November for a gwp reveal and if it's not out by December I'll just pick it up. -

I see. Not sure if I like it though. I mean I'm all for new facial expressions, but I kinda preferred the more so serious gwp one, which I wasn't able to get my hands on. And there's also the problem of them using the budget to do him again over new prints for some of the other characters. I really do wonder what's up with the two gwp's sets and the ps Harry. Things are getting kinda confusing. My bet of the reveal being last Friday was lost. But I guess I still have my comment of the reveal being like the Pirate Bay, being one week before release. Only thing that can ruin this now is them delaying the set. Don't let me down Lego -

Personally I was planning to put the wicked witch of the west in diagon alley, but putting Gandalf, Saruman and Radagast in there will be even better. Also need to find a Vutruvius somewhere and need to modify the 2 cmf wizards. Might even throw in Doctor strange. I hope we'll get Sword in the Stone figures now for a potential Disney cmf series 3. -

Yeah very much like Han Solo. And indeed, it looks pretty good. Problem was mostly that the brown would make him stand out more as a lot of figures were wearing black already. But I think the turban does a fine job with that already. Fair enough, I guess they will indeed sell out too fast if they were released at the same time. Either way just not too big of a fan of gwp sets altogether. Just way too hard to get your hands on sometimes. Personally I wanted it to release alongside diagon alley as I just hate ordering at S@H. So I rather did purchase everything at once. Good point. Luckily the right colours are available on bricklink as it doesn't look like they have the capes/cloaks. Not really, just speculation. It wouldn't really follow the pattern any HP polybag has had in its now almost 20 year lifespan. As nothing exclusive has come in a polybag so far, except maybe a printed brick for the knight bus. Besides, we already have a polybag this year (of course that says little, but still.) The question is mostly what would be the most likely setting for this Harry. Almost gotta be DA related. So a small brick entrance really isn't that farfetched. Especially as gwp sets are often released close to d2c sets. -

In the movies he wears a brown suit, but it became black on the figure, apparentely with JK Rowling's input. Some scenes it looks kinda black because of the lighting, but overall it should be brown. We discussed it here back in 2018 and even a designer responded about the choice. This is kinda similar. Oh yeah forgot about Karkaroff and Goyle (and I guess Crabbe too) and I left out the nameless characters and variants/creatures. Either way I hope we'll get them eventually. I thought it was just a very good print xD. But I hope you are right. Maybe they've watched it on a screen with weird settings xD. Or they've seen the actual costume and the one in the movie just has very weird lighting :O. No but I have no clue what happened there xD. -

I'm off for a few hours and the set leak, typical xD. It appears birthdays and songs are the answer to all our problems :D. (for tldr, I love the set, Harry is a mystery, and I think I know what happened to Lockhart.) Either way this set looks amazing. I absolutely love it, it's massive. Guess it was a microscale set after all . But in all seriousness, this set is absolutely gorgeous. I'm not sure if I can pick a favourite building or section. I think if I had to pick it might actually be WWW. I just love how we're finally getting some chaotic staircases in lego Harry Potter, and overall the interior is probably the best looking of the bunch. Not sure why anyone is surprised about the colour, it's pretty much the same is in the gwp one. Only funny thing is how they got a different colour for the hat in both the gwp and d2c www, but neither of them are accurate. It's supposed to be more of a brownish colour. Doesn't bother me at all though. I also gotta love the entrance to knockturn alley, with the crooked windows and all, gives the idea how massive this place is. Next up Flourish and Blotts. It looks great, tons of books both inside and outside, which was basically my only wish. And ofcourse the second floor, which makes the place all the more recognisable. Kinda odd to see the green from the outside on the inside, which is supposed to be more reddish and brown, but the choice is obvious and I actually think it works really well. The ice cream parlor looks very cute. A lot of little places for the wizards and witches to sit. It actually looks quite similar to a lot of the mocs people made and even a little like the build your own adventure design, only bigger. Really glad it’s included in its entirety instead of just an ice cream cart. Still I think I might customise the place a bit by adding an ice cream cone on the outside like in the park. Ollivanders looks like a step up from the previous version, which actually still holds up pretty well as a set. The interior is a huge upgrade though. The counter in the old one was really badly placed, and the second floor was kinda a mess (which kinda works considering the state of the shop, but this works so much better. I also love the chimney build. Scribbulus looks like a pretty fun inclusion, although the pictures are kinda hard to see. I actually love QQS. I really don’t mind the pink (although I’m kinda curious towards that edit you guys have been talking about). Either way it helps make the street pop. I was afraid it would look kinda boring and dark, but the set is full of colour, as diagon alley should be. With the store selection basically all stores look totally different from each other, which is probably also one of the reasons this selection was made. There’s an orange and purple building, pink and red, green, yellow, blue and finally there’s Ollivander’s in more neutral colours. If you change around the order a bit it would become a nice rainbow. Either way back to QQS, the store is probably the one that portrays the crooked look the best. Really curious if the windows are prints or stickers. The interior is pretty cute as well. Although it might look rather empty when I remove the quidditch uniforms. I might need to order an extra pair of the cheaper Slytherin and Gryffindor robes to fill in the space. I might pick up the old QQS set if I can find it online to add the quidditch book to the interior and perhaps add the old sign to give it even more texture. It’s also missing a counter. The only let down is the daily prophet, nothing inside, not even a new newspaper print. I think I might just bricklink the old newspapers from 2011 and such. I also think it looks kinda awkward how QQS continues above the daily prophet from the outside, it feels kinda pointless. Either way I think I might add a small building next to it to create a custom interior for it. I assume the wanted posters go in here, but that still leaves us with one more wanted poster on the f&b sheet unaccounted for. I wonder where it goes. Now for the figures, they’re really not too bad. Sure it’s missing the hbp characters, but I really didn’t care for them anyway, most of them would’ve looked too generic to be recognisable and are probably done more justice in another set. Hagrid is about what I expected. Fred and George look good, finally two different torsos instead of them being the exact same figure. Molly looks really boring though, I rather had Arthur, but still a nice inclusion. Ginny looks fine. The trio are looking a little bit generic, would have rather had them with more of the shirt showing, would’ve been great for Ron who’s ac shirt is showing underneath. But I guess this way they saved some money by using the exact same torso. Draco looks good. Luscious looks good as well, is that the Dumbledore hairpiece? I think so. Would be a shame if it’s the Bruce Wayne head though. Still I’m not too sad as I own the 2011 Lucious, whose face was pretty much perfect. I don’t think he’s too expensive on bricklink anyway. Shame about the cane though. All I needed from this set was an updated hairpiece, so I’m happy. I’m also happy Ollivander is the same, the figure looked great the previous time as the sideburns didn’t bother me at all. Couldn’t get my hands on the set so I’m glad I’ll have another shot at him. Florean Fortescue brings a little bit of well needed life into the street. The photographer looks great as well. Love the piece useage for his hat. The short legs make sense as the guy was shorter than eleven year old Ginny. And I think the hat makes up for the height anyway. The owls look great as well. Now for Lockhart, probably the most anticipated figure of them all. I feel mixed about him. First of all they used the same hair as J2G and Ashnflash used for their cmf one, and I really don’t like that piece, especially in that colour. I think I might actually swap it out for the old hairpiece, or I might use the dog trainer hair, although that one might be a little too light. I just hope lego will release the jim gordon hair in tan someday. Might even use the Duke Caboom hair, still the wrong colour, but oh well. His face looks new, but it’s hard to see, although I’m not so sure I like the expression, his face should kinda be exaggerated. His cape looks nice though, I hope it has a different colour on the other side to help him jump out. It’s basically the one thing that could save or break this figure for me. Now for the torso, the colours are obviously off. Although I know exactly why that is. There is this promotional image from CoS, taking place in Flourish and Blotts, and there his clothes have the exact same colour as this figure, the lightning must be off. So I think this is another 2018 Quirrell situation. I mean look at this, it's pretty spot on to the figures colours. Now for the missing Harry figure, I guess the wait still isn’t over. I can at least say for certain that he won’t be in a B&B set. The torso doesn’t make sense for the scene and we already have 3 of the 4 figures for that scene in this set. Honestly I’m not even sure if it comes at all within the next 2 years. My two cents are that it’s either a surprise year 1 Gringotts set. Kinda makes sense actually as we already got year 7 Griphook in the cmf, and a year 7 set would look kinda empty without him. Sure they reused Dobby, but that was in 2018, when the future of the theme greatly depended on whether or not it would sell. So they just tried to give us the most important characters in case the theme would die again. It would also make sense to release Gringotts alongside Diagon Alley, as they do belong together. Although the more likely scenario is that we will get him in a gwp set. Most likely the brick wall as people have pointed out. Would also go nicely with the gwp diagon alley, as people who only pick those two up have the right figures for the scene. Although the build might look rather boring for a gwp set. But it’s too complicated for a polybag. So I thought maybe they would also throw in Hagrid and his motorbike? Might be a little too much though. Either way I love this set. The buildings look great and there’s not a single one I dislike. The figures are nothing too spectaculair, but still very nice, it at leasts fills up a huge gap. I guess we’re now only missing an updated Narcissa, right? Not counting peeves and the statues obviously. Or I guess we might also miss werewolf Lupin. Either way I’ll definitely buy this set, not day one though, as I wanna find out where Harry ends up first. The buildings are massive and would look great next to the modular buildings. Sure it has an open back, but I prefer that actually, and it’s easily fixable. I just hope they won’t look out of place next to the Hogwarts sets. I mean it’s a little but big, might even consider it minifigure scale rather than system. It stands really well on its own and will do just fine without Gringotts. As long as we get it later down the line. Can't wait to get my hands on this gorgeous set. -

I think it's likely we see Bill about next year. Percy seems to me like either a cmf candidate, diagon alley or a ministry set (although that will be a somewhat boring variant). Ofcourse we are still left with Charlie, who quite honestly appeared clearer on screen than some of the other characters we are getting. Although it's just on a photo so I only see him appear in a cmf series. But I think it's not too unlikely considering the figures we've received so far, perhaps even somewhat likely. Yeah some companies are making some weird choices. I wonder what's the reasoning. I agree. Do I want them over other characters? Not really. But I do want them eventually. And as any other set is very unlikely and a cmf would be an even more dreaded inclusion. So I gladly take them. I'm glad I didn't find the cmf Fred and George to take a bet. Although I still have my Friday prediction left xD. If we just count to 1000 we will eventually be right. (Please don't make it 1001 just to prove me wrong Lego ;p) -

Not gonna lie, when the idea popped up in my head it kinda stayed there. I mean they would be the most boring characters ever but I really want them to create one big happy family for the Potters, Weasleys and Grangers. Besides, it's the only likely place they could possibly show up so it's basically a now or never scenario. If background icecream dude gets a figure, 2 characters that were adressed by a foreground character definitely shouldn't be out of the question. -

Upon second thought I think the torso has got to be from the photographer. It's not completely accurate but he wears the closest thing to the torso. I assume mini legogo just didn't had the other parts as he posted the other characters fully. I agree, the movie was pretty fun to watch. Although I prefer the first one. We definitely need more sets. Preferably the circus and French graveyard. -

Maybe it's a costume one of the universal park employees wears? Does anyone have any info on those? It would be a reach but who knows? Very true, the only images we got came from him, without him we would still only have a description, and before that nothing at all. -

I have no idea who this torso belongs to. I've just watched every Diagon Alley scene from all the movies and I can't find a single person in that exact outfit. Many similar looking ones though. Tons of background characters were the tie just doesn't quite match. No leaky cauldron guests. Ollivander has the outfit in totally different colours. Burkes has one similar but in black. The photographer has a different pattern, not to forget he would most likely be using the short legs rather than the pictured long or mid ones. Might be a mix match from several of Arthur's outfits though, but I don't think he ever had this exact combination. Either way, new theory, we're getting exactly 1 piece leaked every day until we've got the full set revealed. Only a little over 15 years to go -

I agree, the more simplistic stores will look kinda boring if they're being straight -
So a few months ago, I believe November last year, I went to the lego store here in the Netherlands and there I signed up for Lego VIP. I got an email, but on clicking it it kept loading for like forever. Eventually I lost my patience and stopped trying. That being said I didn't had a great first experience with S@H (didn't even tried vip then) before that as they canceled an order I made for my birthday a few years ago, without notifying me at all. That was a pretty big dissapointment so I didn't fell like trying again now when the site was giving me problems once more. However, I was planning to buy diagon alley there very soon when it is announced with a potential gwp, so I thought I would give it another try. I thougt it would be wise to set things up so I could order right away when the time is there. Plus there was a second shot at the avengers tower gwp so I thought that would be a nice way to try things out. I tried the email again from last November, which obviously was expired, so I requested a new email. Which was send right away. Sadly the site keeps loading, and I waited for like an hour. So I tried again, and again and again. About 20 new links later, (the site kept sending me new ones), I tried registering again, but oh no, the email was already registered. "But when can send you a new confirmation if you like." So about 10 new confirmation emails later I decided to just assign a new email adress to my account, that one isn't registered right? Well yes, but this time they just didn't send me an email at all. I got plenty of 2fa codes in the mail though. So I tried using my normal email again, which gave me another infinity loading link. That's about when I gave up on my account ): and tried making a new account with a third email, as I assumed the second was now already associated with my original account, so I decided to start absolutely from scratch. But then I got an error message saying something went wrong and to please try again. Five tries later and I completely gave up. That site was a mess in 2013, it was a mess last year and it is a mess right now.

I was wondering, with Lockhart almost certain to pop up in diagon alley, which hairpiece do you guys wanna see used on him? The lego Harry Potter books are using the tlbm commissioner gordon hairpiece in tan, which I think works really well. Better than the piece j2g and ashnflash used in my opinion. But I think the more recent jim gordon/tom riddle hairpiece might also work in tan. -

That would be an odd list. So include Lucious but leave out Ginny? What's the point of that xD. And leaving out Ollivander's first name is very strange as well. Btw did Rita ever even appear in diagon alley? I don't remember seeing her there (although it has been some time ago I watched the movies). -

Wow that were a lot of new pages to get through. Either way I bought the Burrow and the room of requirement earlier today. Such great looking sets. Also reserved a full set of the cmf HP series which apparently will be available somewhere around September 1st or 2nd in the Netherlands. Can't wait. On a side note, really good point about us now basically getting the instructions to build the other shops if we swap the colours around. I might wait a year to see Lego's official plans but definitely gonna look into doing that. Also very interesting how a designer discredited the fake printed piece on Instagram. If only they had done the same for a certain other "leaker" xD. Either way I'm not getting my hopes up for a reveal this week. It's gonna be next week for sure. -

Great to finally get some confirmation on some things. So I guess definitely no leaky cauldron and Gringotts, but more to come for sure. With the book signing bit it's basically confirmed we'll 100% get Lockhart, you can't have a signing without the author. So that basically confirms Harry, icecream guy, Lockhart and Ollivanders (because of course he's there). One might also add Fred and George to that list. It's gonna be a huge set. Bigger than I ever expected. It's gonna be great. Still I really don't get why the leaky cauldron is still a no go for Lego. I mean we don't get pubs because they serve alcohol. But meanwhile we literally got the one thing that keeps the set from being made in the cmf series. And what are they planning to do for a potential Hogsmeade? Can't have that without at least one of the two pubs/inns. Oh well, only time will tell I guess, but I really don't see a reason anymore not to make the location into a set. -

Yeah it's taking really long. Personally I think they're waiting for some other sets to release with new molds they could reuse to get the best possible end result. Like minions came with the perfect Bert hairpiece. Do we know of any other upcoming sets or themes that might introduce new molds like that?

lego really messed up here. Does anyone even care about an official reveal at this point if it wasn't for a potential mention of a release date? XD
