  1. I wasn't being clear enough, so there is a misunderstanding. On the first post of this thread is a list and photos of the creator sets. At the end are two polybag sets: one is a tiny wreath and the other is a tiny reindeer. I don't think there is any news yet on the 2011 holiday set.
  2. Ah, I see. Well in that case: minecraft. (That was mostly a joke.)
  3. Not really an acquisition, but I just placed a pre-order for Queen Anne's Revenge and The Captain's Cabin. I used a Groupon and $100 gift card from my credit card points, so it only cost me $9.77. It said available May 1st. I have a feeling the sets will be out sooner than that, so we'll see. This is my first time placing a pre-order online.
  4. Doesn't Lego Universe (the video game, not LDD mode) have this feature? I think I remember reading that you get your own piece of land and can build whatever you want on it.
  5. I can't wait until we get news about the holiday creator set. I really liked the toy shop and bakery, and I really look forward to adding to the holiday village. I guess we don't even have a set number for it yet. Strange how the wreath and reindeer are known though. On a related note, I wish they would re-release the holiday train from 2006. I was in my dark age then, and that would have been my introduction to Lego trains.
  6. I don't think anyone mentioned that the official Lego page now has 360-degree views of the sets. http://www.lego.com/piratesofthecaribbean/en-us/Products/Default.aspx
  7. Maybe you could PM him the shop's address. Then it's just a google search away from a phone number, and maybe a deal. If he's a big reseller, I'm sure he's no stranger to dealing with shipping, etc. He probably receives shipments like this all the time. I guess it would be an import since the OP's from Canada.
  8. Yeah, Borders now excludes toys in their non-stop coupons that they send. That's pretty much the nail in the coffin for any sort of Lego deal at Borders.
  9. Ah boo. We've all been had, I think.
  10. If this isn't an April Fool's joke, I'd like to throw my hat in the ring. I'm interested in Castle and Indiana Jones, whatever you would want to give. Oh and if you have any Pirates stuff, that's really my primary thing. Larger sets are good. I'm domestic to you for shipping (California), which I can cover if you want. Have you thought about donating to Toys For Tots? You could deduct from your income for tax season, and you would know that your collection is doing some good.
  11. Are they doing some sort of trading card thing? Maybe like Ninjago except not a game card? Also, it looks like the Jack Sparrow hat/hair is all one piece. That means the Blackbeard hat/hair is all one piece, too.
  12. ...and you bought a ticket for a flight you aren't even going to get on, just to get into the terminal!
  13. I think you need a certain amount of posts before you're allowed to send PM's. But when you are able, you find it by clicking on your name in the top-right. A drop-down happens and one of the options is "Messenger (0 New)". That's where you send PMs. EDIT: Here you go: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=33335 That says you need 10 posts before you can send a PM. Please make them meaningful though!
  14. You might want to split those up into sections by theme and add their titles, too. I can't imagine anyone reading that and having a map in their head of set numbers and knowing what those all are. PS I was at Target yesterday. I scooped up an Atlantis polybag (30042 Mini Sub). They also had Ninjago (red ninja versus giant turkey thing), SW AT-ST, and city firefighter with vehicle. This was in the Easter section. Also there was the Toy Story army men poly by the checkouts. Good luck!
  15. I got my order of 60 packets in from my TRU online order. They did not send a sealed box like I had hoped. I used the dot guide and the touch/feel method. I found that some packets had very pronounced dots while others were very hard to see, just like series 3. One interesting thing was that all the Hazmat Guys either didn't have any dots or they had strange patterns - it didn't match the published dot guide really. But that's ok because he's one of the easiest to ID. I found my ID'ing to be pretty accurate. The only surprise I had was that a Viking turned out to be a skateboarder during my opening phase! I guess I felt a spoke and rounded edge of the board and assumed it was a shield too quickly. In the end I ended up opening all 16 unique figures, so it's all good. Here is what was left after opening my set. Again, this is not a MISB situation! And my ID'ing is pretty accurate but not 100%, apparently. 0 Viking 1 Crazy Scientist 2 Musketeer 2 Surfer 2 Garden Gnome 2 Hockey Player 2 Figure Skater 3 Hazmat 3 Skateboarder 3 Monster (Frankenstein) 3 Kimono Girl 3 Soccer Player 4 Punk Rocker 4 Sailor 5 Artist 5 Werewolf I'm thinking I will hold on to my additional Musketeers and Hazmat Guys to sell/trade later. The rest will be returned to my local TRU for a very large gift card. It was worth it to do this and avoid multiple trips and aggravation; this is my new strategy for s5 and onward. Some identifying thoughts... Kimono, Hazmat, and Surfer are very easy to identify due to their large unique elements. Punk Rocker is pretty easy too once you find the guitar. The hardest to ID are the Werewolf and Monster, especially the latter. For the wolf, you should try to lock down the tiny bone. I also found the sailor and artist hat to be very similar; I think their dots were similar too, iirc. Other thoughts... There are rubbery pieces in this series! I don't remember s1-3 having any rubbery elements, do you? The scientist hair, punk rocker's hair, and hazmat's tool are all rubbery. The gnome has no fish! The artist's accessories are probably the best in this series. The hockey player and figure skater have the same ice skates (same mold and color). Those skates are very tiny and kind of come off easily; they make the figs fall over easily. My favorite figures for this series (in order): Musketeer, Viking, Punk Rocker, Hazmat, Artist My least favorite this series (lamest first): soccer player, gnome, werewolf, figure skater. I could also live without another skateboarder. At least surfer girl has a different gender and outfit than surfer guy. But all in all, I'm loving this series. I'm all set for another three months, whew! Feel free to ask me any questions in this thread.
  16. I just got my 60 packs from TRU. Same story: they were all loose and not a sealed box. I'll report back on what I get.
  17. This made me think of one of the scenes from the "guess which movie" thread: (The Godfather. Of course.)
  18. Welcome to the forums! Eh, somewhat delusional. It's good to hear you're playing with your kids like that. I would look at it not so much as an investment, but as a hobby that is maybe less costly overall than other hobbies. But it's still a money-sink in my opinion. If you "set collect" and keep mint things on the shelf you can sort of turn a profit, but at that point you're just running your own small business... There is another technique that is used in recent sets where you can pull off floors of a building. The Creator houses do this, as does the Pirates Imperial Flagship. Basically there is a layer where it's mostly smooth plates and only a couple of studs, making it so you can pull off what is above it, exposing a building's floor. Not every set does this. Another example is the Medieval Market Village where the house is kind of split vertically in half but with a hinge on one side, so you can open the building and play with what is inside. I think you'll find that there have been some significant changes since you were last into Lego. More detail, wider range of colors, better printing and minifigure quality, facial expressions, flesh tones, licensed themes. (Most of these are good anyway, lol). Welcome! P.S. Set your location, please! Just the country you're in is fine.
  19. What is in the left-hand window here? Is that just a trans-red gemstone? I should find that flickr feed of the convention photos to see if someone got a shot of the back side of this set... http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/grogall/Lego-Kingdoms/7187/c_7187_detail_1_hr.jpg Ah found it. Yeah, it's just a gemstone sitting in a jumper plate:
  20. That church looks fantastic! I really like the grayed-out minifigures used for the statues. That trick always gets me. I had to click on the rat in the pew to figure out what he was. I thought he was a penguin at first. The well could have had a play feature: a technic axle that turns to raise/lower the bucket.
  21. I made a thread for my MOC called Knight's Vacation. I would categorize this under "Historic". Link to LXF file.
  22. This is really more of a draft/work-in-progress of a real MOC I'd like to do soon. I will update this thread when I get around to building this MOC in real plastic. This is a knight that is on vacation. He loves to go to the beach and build sand castles. But he's having a little bit of trouble separating himself from his work. He forgot to take his helmet and armor off! He has a tropical shirt on underneath. Does he wear that all the time under his armor, or only on vacation? He brought a gold goblet from the castle to use as a sand scooper, and a farmer's basket to carry his tools. Some notes: I did this in the regular (Creator) mode in LDD; I didn't use Universe mode at all. The thing around his neck/front is a placeholder for armor. The sword is also placeholder for a knight's sword. I would also put a parrot on the tree and some other garnishments. LDD LXF File
  23. Sorry to interject. But I remember reading a while back that an old issue of "Disney Adventures" may have had some Lego Pirates comics in it. There's a decent chance that I may have a cache of those magazines at the house I grew up in. However, there is a very low chance of me being able to look for them any time soon. But if that's true, then I'll try to remember and look one day for those magazines. Or perhaps someone has already scanned them and the information is already known?
  24. I'm the same way as this. I only buy one copy, build it, and eventually dismantle it and sort all the parts into drawers. I won't buy multiples for two reasons: the monetary cost, and lack of space to store large boxes half-filled with dead air. The only exception is collectible minifigures; I always seem to end up with extras I don't really want. I also can't seem to bring myself to break down the collectible minifigures - I keep them in their own little baggies once I'm done displaying them.
  25. Has gamestop done special minifigures with preorder like this in the past, perhaps with Star Wars? And if so, were those minifigures ever available in another way, at a later date? Maybe they were selling for a reasonable price on eBay/BL? I've been burned by gamestop "exclusives" before. There were games where you get special content, but then a matter of months later, they would make that content available for download on xbox live. I kind of want the video game, but 50 bucks (~55 after tax, more for shipping?) is steep. (I've played the Lego SW games, and they're good, but not 55 dollars good.) I'm sure other people feel the same way.
