Ordered only plastic rails, no metal. Have not heard anything yet. I think it's time for an update. -

Super Mega Steam Power Train Builder-- LEGO(R) IDEAS(tm)
nils replied to James Mathis's topic in LEGO Train Tech
A great idea! I would buy such a set. -
firstofminifigs, do you mean something like this? (excuse me for the very poor quality of the image) nils.

As Waler said you can connect 2 PF connectors together and put them on the same color of the IR receiver. But for the front motor you also need part 8869 (PF control switch) to reverse the polarity of the front motor.

All my trains run perfect on 4 AA rechargeable NiMH batterys (with a capacity of 2450 mAh). That is 4.8 V. In curves the top-speed is too high for staemloco's, so speed enough. I use very cheap battery holders. They fit in a space 8 studs long, 4 studs wide and 3 bricks and a plate high. The IR receiver can manage 2 PF trainmotors.

Pulling Power Needed for a Complete Santa Fe?
nils replied to Darthluke824's topic in LEGO Train Tech
As all the others told you: 4 motors is enough (for 10 coaches). Regarding the IR receivers: put the IR receiver of the A-unit in the aft and the IR receiver of the B-unit in the front. Then they are as close to each other as possible and you will have no problems with syncronisation of speed control. And when you prefer ABBA with 12 coaches I would use 6 motors. -
dr_spock, Fantastic!!! I had something like this in my mind for several months, but you convinced me. If you do'nt mind I wiil borrow some details of you. Nils.

Dr spock, i think you´r right. Studying the picture I think I see 3 Bricks Modified Facet 2x2 (part nr 87620) with above those bricks a new type of windshield.

UrbanErwin, there is anoher (small) problem. Ben Fleskes used to add the shipping costs (USD 5,00) to the value of the ordered wheels on the form. That means you can order less. Ask him to not do this before you order and you can buy more wheels.

Lindon, my compliments. As many already said a lovely colourcombination. I learned a lot from your nice detailing and if you don't mind I will borrow some ideas. Nils Wolgast.

Kyphur, the batterybox needs 4 studs wide, almost 32 mm and in therefore not usefull for the Burlington. i have not motorised my BNSF yet, but have 2 other batteryboxes sized 54,4x37,2x15,3 mm (each for 3 AAA batteries). 15,3 mm fits in 2-wide space. But I still hesitate wether I will motorise my Burlington because it's very difficult to hide the IR receiver in the small cab. I think I will put a motorised boxcar or coalwagon behind the BSNF. Nils.

Hello all PF fans, I buy cheap AA battery holders. Take a PF extension wire (8886), cut this into two equal parts and solder one of them to the batteryholder. You can use both ends of the extension wire. I use Duracell AA supreme rechargeable batteries (2450 mA). A set like this costs about 19 euro's ( in the Netherlands). That means 3 sets for the price of 1 Lego rechargeable battery box. Nils.

Hello hoeij, until now I didn't dare to lubricate. When I read your message I decided to find out on wikipedia if your solution is right. on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speedcubing I found the following: WD-40 is incompatible with ABS plastic due to white sprit content. One possibility should be Cyclo Silicone Spray Regards, Nils.
