  1. no pictures yet... wel, i know but this is more challenging, it would be to easy your way and i don't have the new speed remote :)
  2. ow oeps! i was searching on how to display it in a window in the post, i corrected it :)
  3. hi, for the people who saw my previous tatra 8x8, it was good and won the belug truckpull in Wilrijk. i wanted to make it better for the upcoming outdoor challenge. the biggest problem was the steering radius. it was off scale in order to drive good. so i searched for a solution i have 2 long driveschaft in the undercarriage connected to the axles. the solution i found was a limited subtractor, allowing one driveshaft to go faster than the other. the subtractor is powerd by an m motor. the space it takes is only 1 stud longer than the old gearbox. i did stretched the midsection by more than 1 stud to make the truck look more real. it is stil a prototype! i made it tody, and started yeserday... and i sleep :p the clicking you hear is actually the front tyre grinding the 2'd tyre. i have to fix it, but its just reënfrocing enjoy :) hope u like the concept
  4. i use bins for knives, forks.. i only build technic and don't keep colors separate, although i have a lot of lego technic.. i have a large table in my room.. the bins easely go on one another for storage in an open closet, so i just have to place them on my big table around me. i have a certain order in them, so i can reach out and take a piece with my eyes closed. my power functions, mocs, wips, are al in display in the open closed.. it works very good, for now :)
  5. thx the drivetrain uses 2xl's, i managed to fiddle them in :) the axle coming from the xl's passes underneed the 3rd axle's springs, its a very close call when the suspension is fully pushed. but it works perfect :) the power is enormeous... the xl's wont stall, it has eaten already a 16 t :p a piece of cloth jammed it.. to give an example of its robustnes, i made a very strong 12 wheel trailer, loaded a lot of book on it and attached it to the truck.. i stopped loading books when it came to 30 kilo's :p and it even took corners :)
  6. i will be there on sunday, i will take my tatra 8x8 en my toyota fj40 "high lifted" 4x4 with me. you can find me at the trucktrial display :p
  7. i will be present with this truck and a 4x4 @ the brickmania weekend in belgium. i will be there on sunday this weekend. i don't know if anybody here is from belgium?
  8. very nice mocs :) the rally truck makes me think of my own rallytruck, i once used it for a trucktrial, they are fun trucks :p
  9. i think the switches are there for 2 reasons, the cord of the xl is'nt long enough to reach the reciever. and secondley the fist 2xl's are in the opposid direction of the other 2. this wil make the tyres go in the wrong direction, 4 going forward en 4 going backward. i also wondr what it going to be :) judging on the lenght and ground clearance i don't think its for the forrest, i gamble it to be a crane of some sort :)
  10. @ Dluders : well, if anybody would like me to do it, i will :) @ jurgen : i only went to a Belug event with it, and we only have me and 2 others who make trucktrials.. so there just isn't any competition, we just come togheter and look what the others have. we have a full lego circuit, but it proved to be a litle small for the truck. my friend stevenA made a video of the trucks @ the event, i will post it as soon it comes out. one of the other builders told me to make instructions for it, unfortunately i am not into the whole "lets make lego on a screen thingy'. i like to keep it real :p but i tried but i failed with the program.. i have the truck built as it is for over a month, and i did A LOT of playing and testing. the only part that broke was a 16t from the driveschaft. i drove it over a towel, didn't think that a piece of cloth jamming the gears would cause it to snap... the 2 xl's really deliver a lot of co-op torque :) (i was thinking of tearing it apart, i have a few improvements in my head, like my new pf remote gearbox..) sorry for my english
  11. thx for the comments :p never thought to see my tatra posted here. about the angle, this isn't the best it can. a friend of me made a movie of me driving the truck at a lego event in Belgium. we had a plate and we were testing who could ge the best angle, and in that movie, it does an even beter angle, i gues it was between 60 en 75 degrees :) i think this angle is accomplisched by the weight, it is pretty balanced, and2.48 kilo isn't bad for a 8x8, i think :s
  12. the gearbox in the picturewas just the concept to ilustarte it. the one i have in my trialtruck is a reenforced one. it actually is driven by one xl. but the truck only weighs 1.4 kilo with batteries and al. i am using a beam to hold the gearlever in place when in gear. the driving ring never slides out, and after a lot of testing i find no difference in a new and the used driving ring. it works fine, this 4x4 is driving on 91.4 tyres, so takes some stress... @sariel: why i wanted a close gear ratio for trtr, i live in belgium and there is a trucktrial cours at the next event of belug. the course is going to be made with lego bricks, the obsticles will be very close togheter. as they are build with bricks, there wil be not a lot of flat surfuces, even on the downhils. so if go downhill, i dont want to triple my speed, because the next obstacle will come right after it. taking in mind that the course track isn't gonna be wide because of the lego struture, speed an various bumps on te downs will be a high risk of ending next to the track... i rather play safe and be sure to be able to end my run :)
  13. hi, i was experimenting with buidling a simple 2 speed gearbox for trucktrial. i wanted the 2 ratios to be not to far from eachother. this is the result: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=448047 my question is, has anybody ever used this setup? i have never seen it anywere :s the gearbox output is 1/1.536 or 1/2.5 it works perfect and has low friction, it is now in my prototype trucktrial installed and gives it a nice 1/7 and 1/12, suited as high and low gear. grtz Nielsvdv
  14. i will try to make better pictures. it is pretty slow, but not too slow. i kinda need this speed. the trial route is made to take it slow. but now i am working on a new gearbox witch will give me 2 gears, a 1/8.33 and a 1/13.8, so i always got the speed i need. the 1/8.33 looks fine to me as a high gear. niels
  15. these are indeed 8 8297 wheels :) youre plan sounds nice :) but pricey..luckely i already had 4 of them. the hardest part from this truck kwas to keep the flex in the frame low, while keeping the weight down, i succeeded, 2.6 kilo with batteries isn't al that bad. the only minor problem is that when i realy stres one link from the steering, it could snap of. but i really need to stress em hard, just by driving with this in your mind it can conqueer al lot! :) i read on topics from other trucks that the gearing is mostly 1/5 of 1/8, but with my 1/14 the truck drives perfect and can handle al situations, i think that when i lower the gearing, the truck wouldn't drive that smooth anymore over obstacles. i made this truck to compete in the first belug trucktrial competition. i am from belgium and the trucktrial world is'nt that big. the track consists of multiple obstacles made in lego, so i don't want it to drive too fast. regards niels
  16. ow sorry, how do i do that? and i will ma enew pics who are les blurry. does the cam need a setup for so close photo's or something, i went through al programms :s btw sariel, i am a huge fan of youre work :)
  17. hi, i am new to this forum and i wanted to share my latest creation. its a lego tatra t813 kolos 8x8. driving motors: 2xl's gearing: aprox 1/14 weight: 2600 grams steering: on 4 wheels, powered by 1 m motor building time 3 days the model fearures working halfaxles, they have a very long travel thanks to the spring setup. the front axles are helped with an extra spring to carry the weight. overal performances of the model are very good, it can climb over 45 degrees of angle, also it can climb up a 12 cm platform. link: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=446312 if someone would like to, i willmake a video of it. regards Niels
