Barman's MOCs
nielsvdv replied to barman's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
very cool creation :) als because i make protheses like hands, lower arms, legs.. pretty impressve compared to protheses hands. you could make it functional, closing and opening can easelybe done by 2 muscles on your arm :) -

nielsvdv, on 02 May 2012 - 02:26 PM, said: are those my axles from the instructions? cause they really seem to work properly good Yes, it is a modified version of your axles. I didn't add in the wacky inside gearing, and I made the hubs a tad different. Overall, excellent axle Niels! wacky gearing? you mean the 12 t on the 20T, in the center? it was hard to accomplisch that, just the putting in, bur it did gave the axle a whoping 1/8,5 reduction for its small size, and no craking, the 2 20 t's really do a great work in that setup. looks good btw :)

Tatra 6X6
nielsvdv replied to nielsvdv's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
thx :) that steering angle is indeed legit! it can't rub on anything because I used stoppers for that :) the reductions is good too, about 1/8,5. i lack alot of time too, this project was even finished weeks ago the cab? i think you should be able to recreate it with the photo's on brickshelf, it is already up in pieces and sorted. my lego room is the cleanest its ever been now if you have trouble with the cab, i will try to make instructions for it :) -
Tatra 6X6
nielsvdv replied to nielsvdv's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
yes i have, i displayed it at a lego event in belgium. I drove it over a course as a display and sometimes i went into the crowed and entertained the kids a bit :) i even drove over a kid laying on the ground i also have a tatra 8X8 with the same abilities and it entered the belgian championship togheter with a 4X4 of mine, they became both 1st! It was a draw So I have a trophy in my legoroom now -
hey all, Here is a project i would like to share: Its a Tatra 6X6, which features: -25 studs wide -1,8 kilo of weight -2speed gearbox (fast and moderate) -2xl's -fake engine -independant left and right control -steering by a single M -tiltable cab i wanted to make it very compact, so the tyres look a little huge compared to the rest here is a video: plz tell me what you think some pics: instructions: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=502278 i also have instructions for a front and rear axle (pendular) i created them because i see alot of peopledriving with cracking gears: instructions: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=502083 pics: regards, nielsvdv

Monster Dumper/hauler WIP
nielsvdv replied to nielsvdv's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
In our rules in belgium a 4X4 and 6X6 has to be 25 studs wide max, or more when you choose to build in scale 1/13 (so jeeps can be 25 wide, in 1/13 scale it is near impossible) but i didn't make it in 1/13, but 25 studs wide. so i can build the cab as big as i like. i am going to give it a nice cabsize, but it stil has to look like a "monstertruck" with the huge wheels. so i had to build really compact, and it worked :) it is going to be a volvo A25E 4X4, i would have loved to build a A40D FS, but i do not own 6 powerpuller/8466 tyres. -
hey, here a little video on my progress with my hauler. Build for trucktrial event in Belgium. 4 powerpullers 2gears 1/6,25 1/11,25 concerns: u joint in the steering for powering rear tyres, but it is right after the gearbox. first is 1/1, second is 1,6/1, so the gearbox gears up. steering, i tried alot of things, i even had pneumatic steering, which was really good, but the module for the switch and pumps was big, but only used one M motor. to keep the monster effect, i need the body to remain relatively small. why monster? look @the video :) what do you guys think?

Pneumatics
nielsvdv replied to Legoroni's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
water is possible, you wil need the old pumps, wich use a closed circuit. i made a waterpump on a trailer, it is hard to get things strong enough if you want some good pumping power tough, but it wil work. the old cylinders do tend to leak easily, so buy some good ones. i also thought about using a lpe engine, turned by an xl, when the cylinders expand you can get water in, when the cylinder comes down, the lpe will use a switch to let the water go trough another hose. i hope someone understands this :s i would like to know if it works, but havent got the time at the moment. niels -
interesting study :) i like your tatra! looks sturdy and drives quite well. my 8x8 can handle unbelievable slopes, i guess i have to rebuild it into a 4X4, but there is a 6X6 on my list with 2 back axles. i think that would work very good in slopes, as the weight on the front will rest on only 2 tyres like a 4X4. i believe the big difference between a 4X4 and an 8X8 is the "use" of weight on the front axles. a 4X4 delivers more weight on the front, so maybe it has more grip. you didn't went as far as a 12X12? here is my addition to the test :)

i don't think the rockcrawler will use this setup. - too much room for error, the links are loosely attached - kids wil kill the u-joints in the ballbearing I think it is a really nice setup, but I think the rockcrawler will use a reduction in the hubs, just like unimog, but no 16-16T. the use of this (no)reduction in the unimog sujest that they have waited with that for a model who really needs that reduction. Else the parts wouldn't be made like that.

this sounds like a great idea, i think a number of weeks woud be better than 18 days or so. I always have a lot of school work, so i cant build whenever i want, i guess other students here face the same problem. a c model competition sounds great, from one set, or make a c model of 2 smaller sets combined. or we could do a theme like "weird-inventions" :)

MOC th sidewinder
nielsvdv replied to nielsvdv's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Ow, thats a good reason for resizing I will use sariels link from now on. thx sariel! Well, except for drifting and driving on its side, i drove it up a small ramp, and it jumped quite far. The downside is that he batterybox comes loose everytime i do that. too bad lego didn't put pinholes on the batterybox, knowing that the batterypack itself in the box, only uses half the space! they could have easely put a bigger one in it, but i think lego didn't want to make that cost. The battery, how it is now, is already very expensive. So they could have made it even smaller, but allot of people would think "Is that al I get for my money?"
