  1. LEGO Monorail system used wide track to provide base for the wheels on the bogies, and many people have created custom monorail system using bricks but the width of the track relative to the monorail vehicle is pretty wide. Hypothetically could one use the old train rail (1x16 stud) and make a train oh around 6 stud wide and using gyroscope to maintain balance work? http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p101/uzumaki_arashi_album/4-18_04_zpsd1214e76.jpg in TV series Digimon 4th season, these trains were used a lot throughout the show. Their wheels only touch the rail and I'm guessing gyroscope could help work but I dunno.
  2. Have you tried restarting your computer? The graphic driver used through emulator might have gotten messed up. If it still looks messed up, try removing and reinstalling LDD or the emulator. LDD isn't supported for Linux so any bug or problem is more up to user to fix.
  3. Could also use servo to handle track switch without needing clutch or differential to avoid over twisting the switch lever. But it's rather expensive for one switch.
  4. It'd be hard to encourage people to resell parts for profit when flooding the market means the price will drop. Beside it was sold out before I posted this. Like other said, I am making people aware that the light bley part could be available cheaper soon if they waited a bit, and to sell theirs if they are hoarding them before the market is flooded.
  5. http://www.seriousplay.com/19565/2000431 The new set is rather pricey but a sharp eyed forum member spotted 6 of the light bley boat mast that looks very much like the hard to find part needed for the large Millennium Falcon. The set is already sold out so odds are some of the buyers are reseller hoping they are the correct part for the MF and to make quick $900 on 6 of them, and still have over 2,000 pieces left to sell as well. However when too many floods the market, the price usually drops and they becomes common and cheap. Hopefully under $25 a pop cheap. If you have a few and are hoarding them, you might want to consider selling it fast before the market is flooded.
  6. I checked with Toys R Us, they have order to either return it to LEGO or to destroy them in their trash compactor. So for Toys R Us, your best hope is a dishonest manager, an absent minded manager, or 5-finger discount. I don't know what store offers them LEGALLY but I did see at Meijer (Midwest USA chain) a display for display set on sale for $90. I didn't pick it up as the plexi was cracked in several spots and Friends isn't my thing. I did take a picture of it if I can remember where it is.
  7. I'm guessing the November set 40071 is just released at LEGO stores since today is first of November, and the details haven't quite gotten to the internet. I'd check again in a few days, there should be proof of official monthly build for this month.
  8. I think LEGO is just using the same number and has quietly replaced the older 1.x receiver with v2. http://powerfunctions.lego.com/en-us/ElementSpecs/8884.aspx shows LEGO using same part # for v2 as they did with v1
  9. It's been a year since I saw them last. Made me sad because the last time I actually got the bag, I grabbed a few including two with L motor and another with a remote controller plus a whole lotta yellow technic parts. I'm guessing a set 8043 somehow got blown up. A few weeks later when I checked, the usual spot didn't have any grab bag so I asked, they said no more. They could have made the bag available only for adult use? Oh well, they are losing money throwing away pieces while we have to turn to another source like bricklink for certain part or 2.
  10. I find it easier to stick with wanted list setting. It can be set to limit by countries you buy from. Mine is set to USA and I go oversea only for hard to find part or if I need unusual quantity that isn't available in USA. Also Brickficiency can be set to limit to a list of countries using the 2 letters code: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-1_alpha-2 so you could try using that to scan your wanted list by your home country and a few nearby neighboring countries that doesn't charge too much on shipping.
  11. Anyone thought of a stripper when you saw a guy holding his pants up? I'm sure some adults would be upset if they don't know the real reason this minifig is released. PS: PANDA!!!
  12. Are you sure it is 6L and not 5L? The train base is 4L wide so there should be 1 stud length left on both side. Also check the wheels for any crack or defect.
  13. Always thought that L stood for Luigi and M for Mario.
  14. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=x456c01 LEGO did release old light brick with replaceable bulb. LED replacement bulb can be used in lieu of incandescent bulb.
  15. Mad skillz would be building 10179 without manual.
  16. I've seen them a few times, but rarely in Michigan (USA). I'm more likely top see a trailer frame and removable cargo boxes in 2 sizes similar to the cargo train set and Maersk set LEGO released a few years ago. In Flint near the intersection of I-17 and I-69 there's usually huge gathering of train cars next to auto factories.
  17. This just came up on another LEGO forum that if you go to shop on LEGO site, pick a brick is no longer listed in drop down menu or anywhere except for a tiny print on the bottom of the page. Clicking on that leads back to the front of shop.lego.com I tried history as I was there yesterday, it wouldn't work for me either. Anyone have any idea what's going on?
  18. Sunday evening usually works the best but probably not the Sunday after USA Thanksgiving (Dec 1) as people probably spent too much on Black Friday.
  19. so tl'dr it's mostly useless in just about anything LEGO? Some electronic parts are rarely useful by itself, and I can't see LEGO releasing resistor, transistor, etc for use in LEGO project. Those are somewhat advanced for plastic bricks and more for people who are familiar with electronics. OTOH if LEGO did official Arduino or Raspberry addon (with mosfets to handle motor) to support existing PF parts I'd be all over those. They are more flexible and a bit easier to program than RCX/NCX bricks.
  20. But the 12m is labeled as "flex rod" so it should be flexible. LDD bug?
  21. From instruction by Sava: Original image at 1920x1200, took 9 and 1/2 hours to complete using 24 processes of my dual XEON rig. 57 4x3 transparent windows, 14 2x3 door windows, a few transparent bricks, and a few 1x2x2 transparent panels, a few 1x1 round transparent plates, plus transparent flame element on top of the car. Yes I am picking up parts to assemble the real one, about 2,700 pieces total. Spent $100 on the first half so far. Guess what movie this train may have been from! Hint: the Hero is wearing blue robe over yellow pajama the whole movie.
  22. Great pictures and detailed information as always but you might want to refrain from calling one of the kid "KKK". In some parts of the world (mostly USA) KKK is usually associated with Ku Klux Klan, a group who is known for hatred of the non-Whites and cross burning. The group have been greatly frowned on by majority of people who believes in race equality.
  23. Grey is probably better
  24. Some of us "AFOL" are actually true CFOL. I may be almost 40 but I never left my first childhood. I got started in LEGO with a gift of X1 Patrol Craft.
  25. Raided local store after I decided my car can wait on a $125 repair (no heat, no air, blower doesn't work) Priority: LEGO over car repair. Until end of November, I'm stuck with extension cord and hair dryer to defrost my car's window and warm inside quickly. I came away with a bit more than I planned as they had a few interesting pieces. No masonry profile brick or olive pieces but they had a couple colors that weren't available online PAB. A display of what I got today: (yes, 2 different pink) A display of round transparent-red bricks on a counting scale: (this type in this color wasn't listed on LEGO.com PAB) Transparent-dark-blue cones for color reference. Tiles next to the cone are transparent light blue I updated the web site with complete PAB wall: http://www.wallofbri...pab_store_id=61 I had to leave 2 spots empty. Row 6, Column 6 is transparent red round 1x1brick, and Row 4, Column 8 is Transparent-light-blue 1x2 tile. For some reason the web site won't let me put that part in, I guess because they do not exists on LEGO.com PAB? Also I am not sure if I got the right tire or hub as I didn't buy it to compare with but the tire was about 1" diameter with 1/4" sidewall, and the hub is about 1/2" diameter. What I found cool are dark red brick, dark green brick, small palm leaves (can make fern plants), transparent blue tiles, and whole lotta of 1x2x2 and 1x6x5 panels. Part count: http://www.brickshel...price_chart.jpg (larger than 500 pix max) Forgot to add: free holiday set for spending over certain amount. About $25 on bricklink if I sell it. One thing that surprised me: transparent 1x2x2 panel is going for 51 cents each in quantity on Bricklink but only 15 cents on LEGO.com should have gotten more to sell. I did earn $15 on VIP or equal to one free large cup before tax, oh well.
