Modular 8 Wheeler
Crtlego replied to Crtlego's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I was able to upload an animated GIF to Brickshelf showing the truck driving over some lego parts. It is very close to real speed. -
Modular 8 Wheeler
Crtlego replied to Crtlego's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I've been following that thread very often. May I say that you have created one marvel of lego engineering.. You should try to make an LDD model for it. -
I really really really like this model.. When I first saw the video of the truck in real life I was amazed at them being able to do that in the first place but now for somebody to build that with legos.. That's truly outstanding... And it actually works! Not only does it look perfect it works and works well! I've seen most of your other trucks on Brickshelf and they are remarkable. The level of detail and functionality in any one of yours trucks is utterly superb!! You should go to Lego and create a new Theme just for your creations.

Modular 8 Wheeler
Crtlego replied to Crtlego's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Wow! Thanks for the awesome feedback.. I have been thinking a lot about what I'm going to do next mainly considering what parts I have left to use... I was thinking of making some Liebherr crane but I'm not sure if I have the parts to do that.. But it would work really well if I did.. I was also considering using this base as a new base for the crane truck 8258.. I made a rough edit in Paint a while ago to show my idea except it would only use the 8297 Offroader tires.. --I put the link for the picture here instead because it wouldn't let me post this file type "BMP" --http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/crtlego/Technic/8258/better_crane_truck.bmp It looks like fun but I'm still questioning whether I want to do that.. Then there is the "Mascus vehicles.. that looks like a possibility except for the articulated steering which can be done but would change the design.. The adjustable suspension is of the likes of that in the Offroader except it is not motorized and each wheel can be adjusted. Basically by changing the angle that one end of the suspension is attached to the suspension will act differently.. It does not lift or lower the entire truck like the 8297 does but instead it makes the suspension stiff or not stiff so depending on what terrain it is on it can be changed.. That is exactly what they are for.. sort of.. I flipped the position of the differentials on one side that they would go in the same direction but the extension of the cables is correct. Actually when I was filming an earlier version where I hadn't secured the switch the entire rear turned off and I was like "What!?! Why did half of it turn off?" But then I figured it out.. -
Hypertruck
Crtlego replied to Zerobricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I love the Hypertruck!!! It looks like a lot of fun with those tires and the super sonic RC system.. I wanted to get my hands on of those but it never worked out. It looks like with that much power that thing can pretty much go over anything.. Nice job! I agree with "VMLN8R" in saying that I like both of the songs that you uploaded as well.. -
Hi, I am sort of new to Eurobricks but I'm not new to technic.. I just wanted to share a creation I made last week and have finally found the time to upload a video. I call it the 8 Wheeler.. I'm obviously not very creative with names.. It has 8 wheels from the 8297 Offroader and has 4 Xl motors for drive and 1 M motor for steering. This one is not a finished MOC but more of a test to see how the independent modules stand in a full creation. I plan on making it a bit lighter but I figure that I won't have time to do that so I'll probably use it in future models instead. I also made my first page on Moc Pages but it never showed up so... Pictures have been uploaded to Brickshelf but probably haven't been put up yet..

Failed MOC
Crtlego replied to Zerobricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Wow!!! It looks really good for a "Failed MOC".. From the pictures it seems to be one of the nicest looking trial trucks I've seen recently and everything just seems to fit perfectly.. I like the use of the turntables for each wheel. I was wondering though whether that differential could hold in a truck of that size. I've been working on various trucks that I unfortunately haven't had the time to publish and I've been using that differential because it fits much better but when I'm done the teeth are always duller and some are destroyed completely. I had to order 4 more differentials to replace the ones I had damaged but I like the design. "The main problem is the 4L axles slide out of idfferential assembly" Something you can do is to put an axle connector and have two axles, one to the differential and one to the wheel. By keeping the connector in place via some lego brick attached to the frame then the axle won't slip out. -
I was wondering about that as well. I was interested in purchasing a second Offroader a couple months ago and I knew it would not be available to us Americans so much time after its release in 2008. Bricklink had cheap ones from Europe but with shipping made them just as expensive as those from Ebay or Amazon if not more expensive. I ended up ordering specific pieces from Lego using Lego Direct which when the tires are part of the order came out to be quite expensive. If only I had wings I would fly over there and get the entire set at normal price...if only...
-
Unfortunately, as I got noticed, I forgot (OOPS...) to order 4 critical pieces... Not much of a problem though because I was going to put in an order for two extra CV joints anyways so I guess I could include there. Besides.. I'll probably use most of this weekend disassembling my previous creation which was magnificent but isn't really the perfect perfect creation. It was nice, don't get me wrong, and I'll probably spend a lot of time capturing it on my camera. Maybe I can make instructions for it but I HIGHLY DOUBT IT considering it is practically three times the size of the 8297 Offroader, ironically thats the set I just bought parts from...

Technic TV Commercials
Crtlego replied to EyesOnly's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
When I started reading the first post the first thing that pops into mind was a page on TechnicBRICKs which had many of these videos in very good quality. Of course, they were all from YouTube but I recommend going there to find the better ones... The ad for the Super Car was amazing!!! -
Okay. About the shipping from Denmark.. I ordered a couple of pieces using Lego Direct through the internet. When they gave me the prices I placed the order. That was through the phone on Saturday morning of 10/09/10. They said give 7- 10 business days to ship a relatively large package, which still fits in a standard mail box. Today, after arriving from school, I got my package in the mail in less than 7 DAYS, FROM DENMARK, AND WE, the U.S, HAD A HOLIDAY THIS WEEK. That, I say, is pretty good service. I live in East Coast of as I mentioned earlier the U.S. which makes me, I guess, closer to Denmark... !!!LEGO ROCKS!!
-
Not really. Just under 40 pieces. Well after getting home from school my package arrived in the mail and I am very happy because I was planning on doing my build this weekend. I am unable to post the pictures now but I have them on Brickshelf. Check out my Brickshelf folder which hasn't been updated for a least a year and half, except for these photos, but remember they haven't been checked yet so wait a few days from now and they will be available.

I wouldn't exactly call anyone at Lego an idiot.. I ordered parts from Lego Direct and they said the pieces would be shipped from Denmark. I believe I placed the order on Friday or Saturday this past weekend and I am expecting them in time for a build this weekend. I'm guessing it will not get here until next week so I guess another week before I can work on my project...

Trial truck 10 - LYNX
Crtlego replied to Zerobricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I agree!! I've been building TECHNIC for quite a while now and I took interest in Truck Trial about a year or so ago and I've been looking for competitions in the U.S. but haven't found any. Out of curiosity, I live in Virginia, do you live near there?? because if you do we might be able to create our own competition!!! If time permits... -
Well for anybody who happens to be following this post, I followed up on my order for parts from the 8297 Offroader and I was able to purchase quite a significant amount of pieces for a total sum, including shipping, of $55.37 and the pieces will come from Denmark and arrive here in the U.S.A by next weekend. I hope all goes well.

Lego Cuusoo
Crtlego replied to Crtlego's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I was thinking over the Lego Cuusoo ideas that everybody came up with and I look the idea of seeing Industrial Designer's super car or SUV, or Crowkiller's lamborghini, or Sariel's Hot Rod, or Zblj's Lynx, but I was also thinking that we could create something new, something that if Lego were to build would greatly enhance the Technic series. I'm not trying to say that any of these models mentioned wouldn't do that (I actually love these creations very much and I would purchase them if there wasn't a deep gap in my wallet and I actually had the time to use them) but when I think of putting something on the market I think that we should start from scratch and build something spectacular yet possible for Lego to reproduce efficiently. If we were to use that Bugatti Veyron by Sheepo that would be awesome to have but it has virtually 0% chance of being built by Lego even if we were able to get to 1000 votes. But that's just my two cents. -
Lego Cuusoo

I registered as well. I was kind of concerned with having to put that much personal info into my profile though...But then I thought, hey there in official business with Lego so I put it in anyways. -
Lego Cuusoo
Crtlego replied to Crtlego's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I didn't see that limit:thumbdown:. But if we total the wishes of the entire lego technic community and decide what we all want from Lego Cuusoo then that restriction wouldn't be such a problem. That "Custom Technic parts" is also a VERY GOOD IDEA and if we use it correctly this would be one of the greatest things to happen in quite some time. I hope more people find out about this because its only going to work with more than 1000 people. -
Lego Cuusoo
Crtlego replied to Crtlego's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I thought that this might be useful to us Technic Builders!!! Imagine the possibilities!! Any of Contech's construction creations or Industrial Designer's supercars!!! Maybe we can convince Lego to create a Trial Truck division!! I think that might be quite far fetched especially since the site doesn't exactly seem to be that popular or up to date although it says 2008-2010 at the bottom.... -
I was browsing the web and I stumbled upon a page called Lego Cuusoo which is actually an official partner with the Lego Group. Basically, if you have an idea for a new lego design or product you "create a wish" (upload a design) with the details of your idea and if 1000 other people wish for your idea then your idea can become a reality. The concept seems to work and when you browse different topics on there page some of the ideas are labeled "available" which I interpreted as somebody's idea turned into a product. I don't particularly know why the page is in English and Chinese but at least its in English. I realize that this probably has nothing to do with Lego Technic but I searched the eurobrick forums and did not find anything on the topic so I decided to show it to all of you guys.
