  1. Yes, just move the ladder to the other side and then bingo.
  2. I think LEGO finally said "screw it" and is releasing it when it originally was going to (November/December) whenever they pushed Afterlife back to July instead of March. Probably too much in their pipeline for next year. One of the more recent photos show a whole bunch of them stocked with different sets, maybe in the back of a LEGO shop.
  3. It's odd we're getting pictures of this really early, unless they're deciding to go with a November release due to the movie being pushed back even farther to July next year? Also I wonder how much of the rust is stickers and how much is printed. Surely they're stickers, allowing us to do it with or without the rust.
  4. I don't know, I'm still trying to figure it out, I think I'm going to go with Brickstuff's warm white LED's
  5. I took the advice from @zephyr1934 and added the triangle tiles to the roof to see how they would work. The only problem was putting the last ones on, due to clearance issues. I think it turned out great. I also made a new tree to replace the old birch tree from the bookshop with a big oak tree, a symbol of the town. They don't call it "the forest city" for nothing. I do need to order some more leaves, though. And last but not least, I've been trying out several lighting types in order to get that warm and cozy feel, as white LEDs were too bright. That's all for now.
  6. I'm in love with this model. The curves, the nose, the rods, everything about it. I also love seeing how each version changes it, ultimately leading to this masterpiece of a model.
  7. YES. YES. SO MUCH YES.
  8. It's a mix of the 1x1, 1x2 and 1x4 with studs on one side to insure stability
  9. Thank you, the pictures on here don't do it justice, since they're all compressed. Thanks!
  10. Thank you guys for the kind words!
  11. Most Frisco depots in the 1930's had the color scheme of gray or dark gray with white trim, and some of them even had green asphalt shingles for the roof. However to my knowledge and research, the St James depot at the time didn't have the green shingles. Whenever the city decided to restore the depot in 2010, they decided to go with the green and white trims for some reason.
  12. I tried it out after I saw your comment, and you're right, they are definitely worth it, I'll order some of them in black and I'll get to it when they arrive, thank you! Yeah the old fashioned windows were definitely a challenge, but with the combination of SNOT and tiles (and maybe a bit of kragle here and there) it definitely pulled through
  13. So I may have gone back on what I said about not building the depot and modifying it if I do... I plan on converting it to a MILS module in order to prevent the bowing of the base, and to take it to shows. And adding in some lighting, and ambient station noises if possible.
  14. The amount of greebling is insane, and the iron bar (at least that's what it looks like) on the top of the headlight is a lot better than the 1x2. This is such a beautiful model.
  15. Here's how the Fx Brick's audio sounds with their XL speaker while beneath a plate or two, YouTube did lower the quality quite a bit and compressed the sound, but you can still hear it very well. Haha yeah, I saw that dummy coupler solution from somewhere, however I'm not quite sure where it was from.
  16. Thanks for the info! I'll definitively look into Lipos too, I'll take anything that's smaller than a regular battery box. As for the sound and speaker, I used Fx Brick's XL speaker. I first tried using an open speaker method facing down from the tender. It wasn't ideal, but it was for the space I had. The sound came out just fine, but was a bit muffled since it did come out from the bottom vs the top. My second round of using it I enclosed it within the boiler of the locomotive. The sound came out a lot better from the locomotive, and I didn't have to worry about it fitting with the rest of the electronics. I'll update this a with a video showing the sound from it being enclosed soon.
  17. I decided to tackle my first rebuild and get it knocked off before I move onto other projects. This rebuild was mainly for functioning purposes, such as having it handle r56 corners. This rebuild also includes -rollerbearings in the front and trailing axles -detail beneath the cab, such as tubing -improvement of the conical expansion -new piston design -moving speaker into the locomotive -adding a functional headlight and glowing firebox light I still need to add some valve gear to either side, but overall, it looks good. I'm planning on doing the tender later, as I need to do research on powered truck designs and battery options. I've been thinking about using a 9V battery with adapter, but I have no idea how much a 9V battery can power. Of course, as tradition, something is out of place and missing in my photos. The coupler is missing, and the bell is out of place.
  18. There's the cloth that @supertruper1988 has available at BTD, which I honestly think would work better than the claw tooth, as it can get the proper curve. Or the horizontal tooth that I used. It was hard to see in the renders.
  19. Hello all. These are my attempt at some basic searchlight signals. They are relatively low in parts, with the single searchlight tower being 35 parts in total. The signal head is a 3x3 inverted dish with a 1x1 claw with a vertical tooth. These aren't based on an particular model of searchlights, but I figured I'd give them a shot, seeing as they really aren't a signal I see modeled. A front view of the signals and signalbox An angled view, showing off the ladder behind the signals. An example of how it could look next to the track.
  20. Speaking of which... Some pieces fell off of during transport from my house to the event, I was in a bit of a rush.
  21. I'll see if I can fiddle around with some tubing and get the right shapes to fit underneath the cab.
  22. Decals from OKBrickWorks came in today, and WOW it really sells the entire look. She also runs and has sound, now! I'll be taking the locomotive to me tomorrow for the ribbon cutting and open house for the locomotive. I'll be taking pictures with both locomotives together as well as myself and the other volunteers together at the locomotive after 3 long months of cosmetically restoring it.
  23. Here's my depot, my only submission
  24. Well, it rolls for right now I had to rebuild the driving truck and I had to order a longer axle, along with a PF wire extension. I'll upload a video of it running soon, though
  25. Yeah I noticed that whenever uploading the photos, it sits in there usually without a problem
