  1. I remember I read it on "Brickipedia". I once run, just by chance, into their 2015 page and I read LOTR and The Hobbit under a "themes discontinued" paragraph Here the link: http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/2015 I didn't read anything else, so perhaps those info are not accurate. Hopefully
  2. I read LOTR and The Hobbit themes will be discontinued in 2015. I mean not just sets going out of production but the entire theme discontinued. Did you hear something about that? Are those news reliable? I have few "fantasy projects" that would really benefit from LOTR sets. Thanks for any info
  3. Me too. It is going to be a wonderful period for army building. Geonosis Clones, Stormtroopers, Shadow Troopers even Senate Commando pack and a Battle droid carrier for those interested in Separatist armies Btw may I ask how you "customized" your Stormtrooper Jesse you mentioned before?
  4. Sorry, I thought being comics they fell under a different category. I was even unsure if posting it here being clearly Star Wars or in the Comics forum. Move it where you think it "fits" better Sorry if I caused some inconvenience
  5. Hello there, fellow AFOL I'd like to share with you two little "impromptu" Lego Star Wars parody comics I made few moments ago Both have a common them "going out of production" Lego sets but are inspired by two different famous scenes from Episode IV. Perhaps not the best/funniest parodies but, since I made them I thought to share with you. "Going somewhere?" "You can't win" I hope you'll like them. Anyway comments are always very appreciated. May the Brick be with You P.S. I had problems in resizing: the text became so low quality it was hard to read. The software I use for making the comic export the images in very high resolution and when I resize them the text becomes of poor quality. I posted the link so you can read them in the original size
  6. Thank you very much Congratulations again for your works. You found a new subscriber to your channel. I really like your videos and I'll look forward your Skyrim film. Keep up the great work
  7. Among the 2014 Battle Packs my favorite Minifigure is the indeed the Airborne Trooper. The Kashyyyk battle pack, however, has the advantage to give us an "all Clones" pack. For each pack we buy we also get a Republic vehicle. It may not be the most impressive but it's very useful to increase our armies. 10-20 Swamp Speeders make a good addition to any Clone Army. The Tri-droid coming with Utapau pack is very useful if you are also building a Separatist army, though. Our customs will always have a special value to us. They don't have to be perfect since they are our own creations and they are unique. From what I read 2015 will be an interesting year for army building
  8. I'll start building it very soon, after I complete several ongoing projects The first time I looked at the box I was very impressed and I'm sure it will have a very important place in my collection. If it's too difficult to make Brickfilms it won't be a huge problem. I can either modify it as you suggested or I can use it for comics and dioramas: more easy to take photos since I don't have to keep the same "angle" for the stop motion sequence. Thank you for the info I'm glad I bought it and I think it will be joined by the Detective office very soon
  9. The problem I have is the only "white Clones" I have are those from 2002/2005 so I want to not alter them just because I want to still have the "original template". Just a personal preference and it's more due to "nostalgic reason": to have the "old" Minifigure unaltered Since it appears next year we'll have a Stormtroopers battle pack, I'll proceed to custom them without any intention to return them to normal. Well perhaps I'll keep few "unaltered" but if I can buy them in the numbers of my Kashyyyk Troopers, I think I won't have problems in permanently altering several of them
  10. I have to say I'm quite impressed by the Minifigures' armors. They are very nicely detailed and surely not inferior to the Star Wars armors "counterpart" Btw back to "Mass Effect resemblance" I mentioned above: the armors have really a similarity with those from Mass Effect. It's enough to look at the details on the back and it's clear
  11. Personally I wish it was planned to be a multi year theme. Right now Star Wars them is the only Sci-Fi them. I love Star Wars and I love Lego Star Wars theme but sometimes something different would be appreciated Anyway is it just me or does the human GS sets have a certain "resemblance" with Mass Effect? The armors, the helmets, the GS squad logo on human vehicles (I'm looking at 70701 right now) is very similar to the Systems Alliance and Spectre logos. Just my thought, perhaps it's not an intentional similarity
  12. I have been always tempted to buy some custom Clone Troopers but since most of them are shipped from USA I never actually bought for shipping cost reasons. Then there is the fact I'd prefer to make my own customs but I have very few "white clones" and I don't want to permanently alter them. So when I want to make some "custom-like" clone I add marking with colored electric tape (so I don't permanently alter the Minifigure) and add accessories and custom made weapons :) The customs you mentioned have, of course, a much better quality. They are quite unique pieces
  13. Impressive! Wow! It's much better than the "classic set" that inspired you! There is such a great attention to details in this MOC ( you built even the smoke) I also like the style of the building. I don't know if you played or even heard of it since it was a video game that hadn't a wide success but the style of the building reminds me of certain building from Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning video game. Congratulations
  14. I received my first three Galaxy Squad sets : 70701, 70705 and 70709 (yes, the mighty Galactic Titan ) and I really love them! Thank you everyone for your advices. You really helped me. I'm so pleased I bought them. Now I'm looking around for more GS sets
  15. Very nice statues indeed and they can be used even in other "fantasy themes" (I played a lot of Dragon Age in the past and those statues would be perfect in that context too ) Talking about Erebor: is the "official" Lonely Mountain set a good start for a MOC or would it better to create everything from scratch? That set always makes me a bit curious Anyway, congratulations for your MOC. It's impressive
  16. I got it too. Basically it says they want to say thank you because I bought from Lego shop during the Brick Friday VIP Early access (on Nov. 22nd) and to express their thanks they are going to offer me double points on all purchases on that date. So it appears it applies only to those who bought something on Brick Friday VIP early access.
  17. I really like how you achieved the "split feature" in the typical Galaxy Squad style Your brick-built robot is very interesting. The more I look at MOCs and "official" Galaxy Squad sets the more I realize the theme has such a huge potential. It's a shame it was so "short lived". The Lego Sci-Fi community would have greatly benefit from more GS sets. Anyway, congratulations for your MOC
  18. Thank you very much for your comment Which idea/s do you like most? The music is by Kevin McLeod: I wanted to use a "funny" music since, after all, the Lego universe is about fun I made a second video with more weapons designs. I'm posting the link in the topic's original post right now
  19. Thank you for your comment Having a lot of Star Wars sets and never enough spare parts the "Star Wars" feel is inevitable. I mean it's the them I get the spare part from Nice suggestion on the name of melee weapons. I intentionally didn't name it because I wanted to make a sort of "how to" video. I have a Science Fiction story in mind (mostly comics and if I find the time even few Brickfilms) and this Minifigure will be a character so a name for the weapons would be a cool idea. Lawyer-friendly is always a good choice, especially when posting things on YouTube. For example the "Chainsaw-like" could have been a tribute to Warhammer 40K but since I know Games Workshop sometimes does not like to be mentioned I thought to avoid issues and mentioning it, even as tribute which, obviously, does not violate intellectual property but that's another story, and a long one Now as "self criticism" I want say perhaps a different weapon ( the Galaxy Squad Blaster for example) could make the appearance less "Star Wars-like" but I wanted to use a compact weapon just to create the "iconic" "pistol and sword" look. Thank you again for your comment and feedback
  20. Hello fellow AFOL, I recently used several parts to create a custom Minifigure. I don't know if I can call it a MOC or a MOD but I'd really like to read what you think about it Since the resized pics are very low quality I uploaded a video on YouTube. It also shows how I "built" it. Any comment would be very appreciated. Thank you. Edit: I forgot to add a little description. The Minifigure is based on the Jango Fett Minifigure from 75015 set. I swapped the helmet's rangefinder with a Clone Trooper visor (the red one coming from set 9488) then I added the Armor of the Space Miner (from Minifigures series 12). The pistol is the typical Clone Trooper blaster pistol while the melee weapon is made with a Lightsaber handle and the "chainsaw" blade come from a old Space set ( so old I forgot which one it is ) The melee weapon is a reference to a famous Science Fiction series. Did you guess which one? Anyway I hope you like this little customization.
  21. Amazing MOC! How many pieces did you use for the "giant bug"? I really like your GS Mech/ Exo Suits. Congratulations
  22. Impressive! I like the fact the "mech"/ "exo suit" can grab Minifigures. It reminds me of an "official" Superheroes set. I missed it and I'd really liked to have a combat exo suit , since the "Lego ideas" one seems more suited for exploration than combat. I mean, the Galaxy is a dangerous place we can't go out there without "personal defense equipment"
  23. I'm too surprised it didn't work well on the market. Those sets were discontinued after about one year. I too like the "classic concepts" of Sci-Fi behind the theme. The insects are also "nice enemies" for dioramas, Mocs, Comics, Brickfilms or any scene you have in mind :) I ordered 70701 the same day I posted this topic since it seemed a very interesting set regarding design and cost per piece I'll give a look at your GS creation very soon I have to say the Galactic Titan is very tempting It's nearly impossible to not find a way to use it in some scene/story I have the impression they were planning more sets but the abruptly discontinued the theme. It's like what happens with those nice Tv series that sadly don't meet certain "critics/rating requirements" and get cancelled despite the fact many persons like them. Just my impression, of course Thank you everyone for your advices: they have been very useful
  24. Thank you very much for your info Sci-Fi and space themes are indeed very rare outside the Star Wars theme (which I really like but sometimes a little variety is good ) That store has only 5 Galaxy sets: 70701, 70702, 70704, 70705 and the theme largest set 70709 I'll try to get several of them. They also come with nice "blaster" weapons. Personally I don't like the "stud shooters" coming with the recent battle packs. Thanks again for the info. I'll post some pic and, hopefully dioramas, comics etc, featuring them
  25. Hello fellow AOFL, I recently noticed a local online store has several, discontinued, Galaxy Squad sets and I was wondering if they are worth to buy. I was away from the hobby when they were first released so I'd like to know if you think they are good quality sets. I'm a huge Science Fiction fan and if they are nice sets I'd hate to lose the chance to grab few of them before they are gone from that store. Thank you very much for your help
