  1. Which this all sounds great. But I would say you are more of the exception than the rule. I think that's why this idea of "dark ages" came about, because most adult Lego fans DID walk away from them, only to return later. But if you have stuck around the whole time, good for you. I never said that EVERYONE will leave the hobby behind, because I don't like to generalize to such a degree. Again, you are more of the exception than the rule.
  2. Well that's really up to you. You have to ask yourself , do you want the original set? Or will you be ok with a knock off? Also, how much money are you willing to spend? If money isn't an issue, I say but the real one. But if money IS an issue, go with the clone.
  3. Thanks. I've been posting new videos every week. I hope to do a good mix of older and newer sets.
  4. I think to truly understand what "dark ages" mean you have to have aged a decent amount. Like what I mean is, a lot of us literally forgot about Lego during our late teens or twenties entirely. Im not trying to diminish others experiences, but if you were a little kid back in 2004, then you can't really comment on this issue imo. Why? Because you very well might go through a dark age, you just haven't gotten there yet. I know some of you have stuck with Lego in your twenties, but I would bet most of us did other things during that age. Twenties are a time for college, discovering who you are, saying women, partying, etc. Its just not really a time for spending a lot of time into hobbies like Lego. I know for me, I loved Lego from 1987/8 through about 1994/5. Then I was a teenager and was playing sports, music, and other things. Then from 2000-2013 I was in my twenties and early 30s, and had other things I wanted to accomplish in life. Lego just plain wasn't a priority. But now that I'm a little older and have kids, I have rediscovered my love of the hobby.
  5. This is my 2nd brick film called "A day in the village." It is a real short, mostly introduction type of video to my blue coat village. I am still learning the techniques of stop motion, and this video started out more as practice than anything else. I do feel I improved over my first video, and see where I still need to improve. But anyways, here it is.
  6. Here is video I made giving a detailed (and hopefully fair) assesmemt of some of the different bricks out there. I focused on Lego, Mega Bloks, Enlighten, Sluban, Kazi, and Aussini. Hope you enjoy.
  7. I figured I would have to swap out some of the red bricks for blue ones, which is fine. I've really been thinking about turning BrickBeards Bounty into a blue coat ship. It's much cheaper to get your hands on than the BSB. I know a lot of you do lots of really impressive MOCS, maybe some pics could be posted on this thread? Just to give me some ideas.
  8. Ok everyone, here is the deal, I want my blue coats and Red Coats to have a proper flagship. Something that is on par with the bigger PIRATE ships. Obviously the 2010 Imperial Flagship is the easy choice. But given the price that it goes for, even trying to get the pieces individually seems quite expensive, I've decided to just forget about it. I was hoping Lego was going to release a blue coat ship this year, but doesn't look promising. I have been considering going back and getting The Carribean Clipper and the original Imperial Flagship. But tbh, they are small and rather unimpressive. They lack the details that the other ships have. Also considering the prices, The Brick Bounty and Brickbeards Bounty seem to be smarter choices. So that brings me to my question, what official sets (excluding the 2010 ship) do you guys think make great Imperial Vessels? I have pretty much decided that The Brick Bounty can easily be converted into a Red Coat ship. But the Blue Coats are a little more difficult. Any thoughts or opinions? What have some of you guys done?
  9. Well they did release one in 2009 I think. It does look pretty good as well, but I've always had a soft spot for RIR 6253, is the set I was talking about. It looks so much smaller than Rock Island though. Forbidden Island isn't too bad either, but I had that one as a kid also. It never really did much for me, tbh. It's Rock Island or nothing for me.
  10. Ya I will put up a review and possibly a stop motion build for it next week. I have always felt that it was the best PIRATE land fort Lego has ever made. Excluding Imperial forts of course.
  11. On Friday I ordered Rock Island Refuge. 100% complete a/ instructions. Paid $127 with shipping. I'm pretty excited for it, I loved this set as a kid.
  12. I feel like they HAVE to do The Dutchman. Considering Orlando Bloom is IN this film, and last time we saw him he was Captaining it. They have to release at least 1 ship, and logic dictates it must be this one. Perhaps a Black Pearl rerelease as well. Which would be fine with me, since I missed it before. Unless they are doing a new ship that we don't know about yet. But reguardless, The Dutchman seems mandatory this time around. Also perhaps this is the reason why Pirates 2015 was such a small theme, they already are planning BIG things for next year, and don't want to saturate the market?
  13. I'm all for some new sets from this theme. A proper Flying Dutchman would be awesome.
  14. But you can still find some Hobbit sets in shelves at TRU, and they are at least 1 year older. If memory serves, they didn't do that great either. Honestly was TBB even available for 1 Christmas?
  15. What I mean is, this line seemed to leave the shelves pretty quickly, especially The Brick Bounty. My question is why? It can only mean 1 of 2 things, either it was selling great (which if that's the case, why not another wave?) Or 2, it didn't perform very well. Which of that's the case, why can't we buy the sets from the web site still at least? What got me thinking about it was, for MONTHS The Brick Bounty seemed to be fully stocked in every store. Then all the sudden, it became hard to find. Almost like they got pulled from the shelves. Which again, if that's the case why can't we buy them online still? I'm just trying to understand the logic here, if they are indeed in abundance in some warehouse, why not still sell them. I understand taking them off the market increases their value, but that doesn't really do much for lego, because they don't sell them once retired. Unless they actually sold quite well, which again, why not get another wave then? Any thoughts???
  16. Agreed. But it is an interesting to see how AWFUL some of these figures are.
  17. So I'm case anyone is interested in the quality (or lack there of) of some of these "clone" brand minifigs out there, I did a comprehensive video review. I reviewed Lego, Mega Bloks, Enlighten, Sluban, Kazi, and Aussini. Give it a watch and tell me what you think.
  18. This is my first "official" brick film. It does have some flaws, it's a learning process of course. But I hope you guys enjoy it. I appreciate any feed back.
  19. Does anyone know what happened to him? I love watching his videos, probably my favorite Lego YouTube channel. I heard he died, does anyone have any further information?
  20. I saw this on the Ideas page the other day. It is a nice design, and you clearly know your Kaiju.
  21. Yes, exactly. The mini versions just don't do Godzilla justice. He needs to be BIG.
  22. Has anyone here brinklinked The Imperial Flagship, (the big one) piece by piece? Of so, about how much did it cost? I asked this question in the thread similiar to this topic in Pirates, but never got a response. But that is one set that I am interested in getting piece by piece, because the official set is so expensive. If only Lego would just release a blue coat ship, I wouldn't worry about it...
  23. I think this would be a FUN theme to explore officially. I don't mean minifigs as the monsters, but actual BIG monsters, bigger than JW. But that franchise has a lot of fun monsters like Godzilla (of course, Mothra, Ghidorah, etc. Plus how cool would it be to see a Lego Godzilla invade our Lego Cities. Has anyone else ever thought about this? Has anyone ever MOC'd a Godzilla?
