LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

In-hand images of Jedi Bob's Starfighter along with the Onyx Cinder have appeared, along with the figures. Jedi Bob's Starfighter is huge, way bigger than previous Delta-7s and it looks great! The Onyx Cinder is missing one of the front engine pods, but it looks fantastic, though I'm a little disappointed that it's dark bluish gray, not black. Jedi Bob has fake playwear printing which is a nice touch and the Skeleton Crew looks fantastic. I'm glad Jude Law's figure gets leg printing at least. -

Add me to the list of people who badly want Dooku. It's LONG overdue. I could even see him being included in a duel set with Anakin, Obi-Wan and Palpatine so it can also be a RotS anniversary set. Oh my, a $240 UCS Scimitar would be an absolute dream, and outside of like a $200 Eta-2, might be the only other UCS I'd actually want to buy since it's my 2nd favorite Star Wars ship right after the Firespray(Slave I). Midiscale Home One is fantastic and absolutely worthy of the midiscale treatment. I've been wanting the midiscale sets for some time but haven't gotten any of them yet as minifig-scale stuff is my priority and I haven't had the extra budget for them, but some day... -

I'm very excited by the prospect of a new ARC-170 and I'm a sucher for Eta-2s but man, having them be $45 now suuucks. I'm hoping they finally revolutionize the cockpit. The old piece had a good run but it's long past time to retire it. I would honestly just be happy for a new Buzz Droid build or with special molds. LEGO absolutely had the parts inventory now to do a more accurate one close to appropriate scale. ... Wait, it's Ashoka's!? Well that just made it even more exciting because I missed out on her Delta-7B back in the day and it has been a sore spot in my Jedi Starfighter collection. I would have also been hyped by a new blue Interceptor for Obi-Wan or a green one for Anakin. That said, I hope it comes with an additional figure. I could easily see it be another named clone like Jessie or someone else to entice people to fork over $45 for a Jedi Interceptor. -

Wow, I love the Onyx Cinder! The overal design is fantastic and the set itself is so well done. I'm happy with how much interior and storage it has and I really like the Ortolan and official Jude Law minifigs(crazy that we're just now getting him in LEGO given he was theain villain in a Marvel movie and was young Dumbledore in the Harry Potter franchise). This is the set the Night Buzzard wished it could be(and I wished it could be given how much I love that ship design). Hopefully the show is good. -

It's almost EXACTLY like the Azure Angel minus the cowling over the engines and extra fins on the wing tips.... I have no idea how anyone can find this design ugly, but wildly different tastes I guess. -

I doubt they will do this officially, but I'm personally going to refer to it as the Crimson Demon as it's the perfect companion to Anakin's Azure Angel. *insert "It's beautiful. I've looked at this for five hours now" meme here* -

Okay, I LOVE Jedi Bob's Starfighter!! I was wondering if it might be inspired by Anakin's modified Blue Angel. I love the color blocking and the overall shape. The wings look wider than previous Delta 7s and 7Bs and it weirdly looks simultaneously modern and classic early to mid 2000s. I don't know how they pulled that off but it makes sense given the character. Bizarrely, there does not apear tocbe any kind of droid sockit on the ship. Anyway, I can't wait to see better pictures and get a look at the figures for the set. $40 actualy appears somewhat reasonable given the greater size and additional cannon and engine modifications added to the design. While I would have preferred a more fun color like teal, at least it appears predominantly white with what looks like regular red rather than dark red, along with dark bluish gray accents. -

Watching the review of the Peridia set, the Night Trooper somehow went from being the figure I was least excited about to being the one I'm most excited about. It looks so much better in real life. It still could have used arm printing or at the very least asymmetrical colored arms and more printing on the helmet but I'm hopeful we will get a bp at some point that will give us some more variants. I'm genuinely shocked that they actually included a brand new zombie face underneath the helmet rather than just a blank head. That elevates the figure quite a lot in my opinion. I immediately loved the Night Troopers the moment I saw them on screen and I can't wait to amass a variety of them and Captain Enoch eventually. Overall, this is definitely one of my favorite Star Wars sets this year and it makes for such a cool display. I am very much looking forward to it. -

The more I look at the Sarlaac & skiff set, the more I like it. I do appreciate a larger Sarlaac pit for the first time and I really like the shaping around the mouth. The skiff is actually very nicely designed with lots of excellent shaping and smaller details. The biggest issues are still the price and a coupe of the figures. Looking at the set more, I can better appreciate the size and complexity and mentally comparing it to other Star Wars sets in the $60-$80 price range in recent years, I'd give this $70 max. $80 is just too much. As for the figures, Chewie didn't need to be here, it should have been a skiff guard instead and Boba is just a lazy reuse of the mech figure. I would have been a bit more forgiving if they had least included his shoulder cape but they couldn't even do that. -

Jedi Bob's Starfighter is the set I've been most excited about, aside for the Battle of Peridea so it's driving me insane that it still hasn't been revealed/leaked. It's starting to feel personal. I'm incredibly disappointed that we're not actually getting Enoch but now it makes so much sense why one of the leakers was saying he we weren't getting a new mold for his helmet. The Night Trooper looks okay if not a bit bland. The modern Stormtrooper helmet is just so limiting. It badly needs more printing on it and the old helmet mold was able to be printed all over. I do hope we get a Night Trooper bp next year though, and maybe that could at least include one with a gray helmet and maybe a ln Undeath Trooper(zombie Death Trooper)as well. I am at least confident we'll eventually get Enoch as he's Thrawn's right-hand man and will most definitely appear in more upcoming projects. As for the Peridea set itself, it's beautiful. I immediately thought it was a moc it looks so nice! The rest of the figures also look fantastic. I only have a few minor nitpicks. Ashoka's outfit should have had more white on it, Morgan could have used some leg printing, and while I'm happy to get a recolor of the Darksaber blade(especially knowing we'll get 2 in the box like every set that came with the Darksaber), I can't help but feel they should have instead recolored a Ninjago sword piece or something that could better pull off the look of a regular sword imbued with green flames. I think a remold of the new Ninjago sword part# 4924pb01 would have been ideal and appeared in multiple sets this year. Having the trans red be replaced by trans green and perhaps the gunmetal gray with pearl silver would have looked amazing. That said, it is a dual-molded piece and costs more to make and we also don't know at what point this set was being designed in relation to that sword piece being developed by the Ninjago team, nor do we have any idea if the Star Wars design team even considered consulting with the Ninjago team to see if they had a piece that would work. Oh well, it's not like it's weapon of major significance like the Darksaber or something that really deserves a new mold, and of course it took YEARS for the Star Wars team to even give us that. As for the Sarlaac and skiff set, it looks good but not incredibe, and MOST DEFINITELY not worth $80!! I'm definitely going to just bricklink Nien Numb at a later point or wait until this set goes on a deep discount. -

The droid builder set is definitely an easy pass. They should have just done 2 droids or split this into 2 sets. I don't see many people going out to get this set for $100. On top of that, the young Leia minifig isn't very desirable and wow that L0-LA is massive. Why on earth is it so huge?? It should have just been a 1x1 round printed tile. Perhaps they were concerned that they wouldn't be able to get a decent level of detail on such a small piece? -

3-P0 definitely looks excellent and I'm glad he comes with the UCS figure but he, like the Droideka, should have come with an anniversary figure too. That said, looking at his face, all I can see is his appearance in the Tartakovski Clone Wars. It looks just like that and I can't unsee it. -

3-P0 looks quite good. I wish it came with an anniversary figure though, to make it more enticing. Back to the Uglies set, I really like the X-Wing but that TIE... the cockpit just looks awful. It's not remotely ball-shaped. I do appreciate that they integrated both the red tips for the blasters with green spring-loaded shooters and the wings are good because they're the same as the last one. L3-G0 is the only interesting figure here and overall the set is an easy skip as I have the last X-Wing and TIE and I really don't need more in my collection. Still waiting(impatiently) for the Jedi Bob's Starfighter and the Battle of Peridea sets to leak... -

Okay. I'm not familiar with them or their validity as a leaker but regardless, in what way does that statement insinuate it's not a new mold? They just said it's disappointing, not that it isn't new. I have a really hard time believing it's not a new mold when there is not a single helmet mold currently in production that would come remotely close to being like Enoch's. I also haven't payed close attention to this forum in the past several months since it's just been a circle of the same talking points and rampent meaningless speculation without new reveals so I'm sure I might have missed this being discussed already. I can't believe they've officially shown and have the Dark Falcon and X-Wing/TIE set available to preorder and yet we still haven't had a single glimpse at Jedi Bob's Starfighter, aka the set featuring the main character of the new show and his flagship vehicle... Hopefully it won't be much longer. -

I sincerely hope that's wrong because while new and different, it's not nearly as interesting as something like teal or any other wacky color that they could do to take greater advantage of the possibilities of the show's concept. I still say teal would be the best choice given how it's practically become a meme in and of itself considering how much LEGO has used it since its return. Plus, just picture how beautiful a teal and white Delta 7 would look... First, where is this "it's known he won't be getting a new helmet mold" coming from? I find that extremely difficult to believe as I don't see how any existing, still-in-circulation mold would be able to come close. Also, I'm absolutely in the camp that says he should definitely not have a nose because it should mimic a minifig head aesthetic. -

The droid builder set is definitely an easy skip. The TIE and X-Wing set looks good and I'm glad it's on the market, but I don't need it. I think the only interesting thing in it is the McDonald's color-schemed astromech named L3-G0. Now bring on Jedi Bob's Starfighter! -

I do hope so. There is so much potential for great Jedi minifigs. I need a Kelnacca figure, stat! Seeing the HD images of Evil 3-P0 and Darth Jar Jar, 3-P0 does feel like a wasted opportunity but Darth Jar Jar is great and I definitely get what they were going for with his torso design. Now where are pictures of the August sets? I'm dying to see the Peridea set and what color Jedi Bob's Starfighter is going to be! -

I'm a little late, but Darth Jar Jar looks good. I don't know if he comes with a cape but he could use one. Evil 3-P0 is fine. The head will be useful for people who want a tRoS version. I kinda wish he was completely black, not just his arm so we could have an unofficial 0-0-0 because I don't think LEGO would ever actually make him. As for the discussion on the Quarren head returning, it likely will eventually. We have so many alien head molds that appear very sparingly because they don't belong to major characters. After Noga-ta, it wasn't until the Mos Eisley Cantina MBS that we saw the Ithorian head return(sadly, because I so badly want a ton of different Ithorians), and even the Rodian head appears very rarely. Heck, I hope we see the Gran head return soon and although there's a high likelihood of it coming back for the UCS Sailbarge, I want it in a more affordable set. (Mawhonic Podracer anyone? No seriously, you have no idea how badly I want a sub-line of Podracers. Like one of the racing or stunt themed sub-lines that City usually gets, but for the Boonta Eve Classic that gives us a couple of new Podracers every year and eventually gives us the whole lineup) -

I quite like the young ortolan. I'm certain he'll be a highlight from the show and the figure looks good, minus the eyes which are definitely a bit off. I laugh at the people saying LEGO should stop making sets based on Disney+ shows and only focus on old stuff, especially coming to this thread from the Marvel side of things where the exact opposite is the case and it's led to the theme utterly stagnating. Nothing at all says we wouldn't just be getting more OT rehashes instead of new ships and characters we've never gotten before from the prequels(as much as I would love that). They're going to make sets based on what's new and relevant to the zeitgeist and I'm all for that. The core problem is the communication, or lack thereof, that Lucasfilm has with LEGO and other product manufacturers for the sake of preventing spoilers, resulting in products that do a poor job of representing the actual movies and shows their based on. -

I know, that's why I also referred to issues with sets being based on early concept art. The staggered reveals are definitely annoying but it's close enough now that I'm sure we'll see the rest very soon. I was honestly surprised that they didn't reveal the Rebuild the Galaxy sets after the trailer dropped to build(pun intended) more hype. -

I certainly do hope we get Acolyte sets at some point. To be honest, I'm actually kind of glad that they likely wouldn't be until next year. As nice as it is to have sets release in time for a new movie or show, I am so sick of having watered-down sets that end up being poor representations of the show, like expensive sets for ships that had less than 10 seconds of screentime for the entirety of a show or are based on out-dated concept art... That said, regardless of whether or not one appears in the show, a Jedi Vector seems inevitable given how prominent they are across the High Republic era. I love that ship design and would absolutely want an official LEGO version. I also agree with what some have said; the more alien Jedi, the better! Of the characters we know will be in the show, Kelnacca is definitely the one I'd want a figure of the most, followed by Vernestra given her presence across the High Republic and her special pink lightsaber. I'd be very curious to see how LEGO would handle it's special form, assuming they would at all. -

I went to my local LEGO store 24 minutes after they opened and there was a line of like 30 people. By the time I got in, they had completely sold out of the Rex microfighter but I managed to snag the 2 Mando sets. I guess I should have expected that but sheesh. I guess I'll pick it up in a month or 2 when they hype has died down. -
Latest impact of other themes on historic themes

Oh I have no illusions that they would make a bunch of specialized molds for this figure, I'm mostly speculating and fantasizing about what a whole Kraken faction would look like if given a proper theme, or half of one at least.
