Oh. Ok, I see what’s happened here then. Well at least it should be revealed either Monday or Tuesday, unless that VIP release date of September 23rd was a mistake too...
-
Yes agreed! Why are they waiting so long to reveal the winter village set that is supposed to be for sale next week, but have revealed the batwing several weeks in advance?? I’m glad that TLG themselves leaked the picture of the clubhouse, otherwise, by now I think I would have been beside myself with worry that the winter village line had ended. The other seasonal sets that have been discovered/leaked are really a step up from previous years; this GWP looks fantastic. Yes I am also concerned about trying to get the seasonal sets and GWP here in Australia. Stocks have been low and delivery heavily delayed all year.

I hope not. I can’t even think of any further additions to the fantasy side that are even remotely logical, yet there are so many options for the realistic winter village. I can’t believe there is still no press release! Maybe it will be like Diagon Alley and be revealed just hours before it becomes available for purchase.

Every time I come back to this page the poll reappears for me to fill in again. I don’t recall that happening on other polls on Eurobricks? I’m logged in. Not too long to wait for official pics now. Really keen to see the interior of this set!!

At first impressions, I really like the building. I love the shape - really looks proper northern European, with that super steep roof that is needed for heavy snow fall. I really like the rounded wooden door, decorative windows and colour scheme. The tree is a good size for this building and I love to have endless Christmas trees within my winter village so I am happy with this side build, and I like the new design. The little sleigh with the reindeer is cute too and a nice touch. I love the reindeer. I still love the brick built reindeers from Santa's workshop, and in fact I had bricklinked extra of those reindeers. That doesn't matter to me, I will put them apart from each other within my layout. I really like the telescope, that's a fun addition. Ideally my village is set before computers exist so I may leave the computer out. It remains to be seen what is inside the building. Perhaps a lounge / games room and a dining room? If so then this building will be so easy to repurpose to a traditional village building guest house. I am disappointed that the elves look so similar. Maybe there are actually two slightly different prints on the torsos, but I would have preferred them to be in different outfits, like they are in Santa's workshop. It looks odd to have some in uniform and the rest not in uniform. And I have been hanging out for years for some knitted Christmas jumpers / sweaters, I really thought there would one day be one in a Winter Village set. There are minidolls with Christmas sweaters (from the Friends advent calendars a few years back) - why not minifigures?!? Fingers crossed that the special Christmas gwp will be some exclusive minifigures. But the disappointment over the elves isn't a big deal. I love the set and look forward to the official reveal.

Me too. I actually really love this tractor. It needs to be carrying some Christmas trees!!

That is cute! I also like the snow fort. And I like that both the children are wearing gloves.

You just quote and then put the cursor inside it and delete the portions you don’t wish to include. That said I have trouble with the quotes when commenting using my mobile phone and even though I deleted only part of the quote I replied to above, the rest got deleted as well. So perhaps I’m not the best person to respond! Hopefully someone else knows a better trick!!

I love your tradition Jim! I bag up my sets in ziplock bags, and gather smaller pieces into smaller bags and then carefully pack them all together into large plastic containers which sits above the wardrobes in my kids rooms. I have collected pieces to create mils plates for my entire village but as of yet haven’t managed to start building. Have three kids at home for stage 4 lockdown at the moment so don’t get much time to myself but have been doing a bit of sorting so that I can hopefully start building soon. Unfortunately I no longer can fit all the sets on the table space that I have, so from now on some will be left out each year. That’s ok I guess, it brings variety. I love winter village! It’s the theme that brought me out of my dark ages. I just love this aesthetic more than anything. Looking forward to the reveal of this year’s set, and really hoping that for next year they return to real life village buildings.

Ah I forgot about that, of course :-/

I love this idea too. Add in a cauldron and black cat, owl or two. They could easily do a Magical People Pack that has witches and wizards and some elves that isn’t “Harry Potter” but just happens to fit with the theme of Diagon Alley... couldn’t they? I’ve really been enjoying reading this thread. I am reserving judgement on the set until I see the official images. Not sure yet when I will be able to afford it as have had reduced income due to lockdown, hopefully next year. But I would love to be able to buy it and already have a space reserved in the house for it... (got rid of a whole shelf of books!!)

Now that does sound interesting. Do we think that would be more likely to be used in a ‘fantasy’ set such as an Elf Clubhouse? Or could it come with a realistic village building, say as a side build where the kids can line up for a reindeer sleigh ride. How cute would that be? I was disappointed at the rumour of an Elf Clubhouse as that sounds a bit silly to me and I would much prefer a village building, but I’ve realised that in reality I will probably enjoy it anyway, because - Christmas Lego. I have already got a separate space for the gingerbread house and Santa’s workshop so it would just go with those.

Your videos fascinate me! How you just put the piece straight down without dithering. And I know it’s sped up but it doesn’t seem like there are pauses. Are you building from your own instructions?? Nice texture and layering. I’m really enjoying this series!

Birth of a new Lego city [UPDATE #24 Overpass completed! ]
alsielou replied to HereWeGoAgain's topic in LEGO Town
Your city is beautiful!! Really nice overall design, and lots of interesting and attractive details. -
Looks great! Your videos are fun to watch, and informative. Thanks for sharing these! I actually like the look of the snow cornice. Overall it looks really good. Maybe up close you can see gaps but I think anybody other than yourself looking at it will just see nice snow on the mountain.

I always thought that a sweets shoppe would be a sensible addition but I can’t see that following on from the gingerbread house. We don’t have any indoor eating establishments in the winter village yet, so my bet is also on a cafe, or hopefully something more akin to a tavern. Whatever it is, I am very much looking forward to it :-)

@JeremyJoy, your village is gorgeous! I love the pedestrian bridge over the railway, and the way the railway winds around and through the village. There are so many nice details. I would love to see more pictures. Your video is really enjoyable to watch too, great videoing skills and perfect choice of music. Thanks for sharing ?.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
alsielou replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Ooh it’s exciting! I’m about to sleep (it’s 11pm here in Oz), but I’ll probably wake up in the night, then I’ll check. I always wake uo when I’m excited or nervous about something. I have moved my instagram icon on my phone as a reminder to check Brickset first. I much prefer to see the official reveal without having glimpsed leaked pictures. I find that more enjoyable than grainy half pictures with questions unanswered!! I like the idea of a bookstore and really hope it is a beautiful old-style building with lots of character. -
Congratulations! And good luck!! I supported it almost 2 years ago I think, and so happy to see it reach 10,000 supporters. The climate has changed a bit for bigger projects and fingers crossed it gets approved!

Wow, this is simply beautiful and so clever. I love the inverted corner and the fact that despite that there is still so much room on the inside. I really like sweeping staircase and reception rooms, the awnings over the door and window at ground level and that lovely round tower, as well as the overall look and all those cosy, welcoming bedrooms.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
alsielou replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I remember seeing one as well and I think it was on Instagram. However I’ve just searched through all the people I follow and all posts with the tag #31097 and I can’t see it... -
The mini gingerbread house that was a GWP three years ago was so popular that I think it is a very safe bet by Lego to do a full size gingerbread house. It would work very well on its own as a stand-alone decoration. I hear you on wishing for a proper village building, I do too, but I am still pleased with the idea of a gingerbread house and I don’t think I’ll have any trouble working it into my village, except for that whole issue of space (or lack thereof).
-
I believe @LegoDW is just referring to the fact they just purchased the carousel and will add it to their winter village display this year.
-
I think a gingerbread house would be perfect for the Winter Village, being a part of Christmas, and the winter village being synonymous with Christmas for those who celebrate it. Those who prefer realism could always style it as a tourist attraction. I like a bit of fantasy in my village so I would love to site a gingerbread house in a bit of forest, with a ‘friendly’ looking old lady living in it.... i look forward to this year’s set, whatever it is. I agree, a village hall would be excellent and would make for a wonderful 10th anniversary special set - something that brings the whole community together!

Sooooo cute. You have an amazing talent!! Thank you for sharing!! This has made my day!! I love all the curly and drippy icing, the different sweets everywhere, and that awesome gingerbread tree!! And the hot chocolate with cookie being dipped in it is very enticing!!
