  1. Sorry, change of mind about the ticket for my daughter; she reminded me that she'll be going to Billund in September, so I'll get a Merlin pass for her as it will work out cheaper in the long run. Thanks anyway, and the notifications about posts is really helpful, I agree!
  2. I'll have an annual pass, but a ticket for my daughter would be much appreciated, thanks, Holodoc!
  3. Thanks, everyone, for all the positive feedback. It means a lot!
  4. Thanks, everyone for all the positive feedback! (And no, I didn't get much sleep during those eight days... they passed in a bit of a blur, actually!)
  5. I'm sitting here on a wet Sunday morning, should be outside tending to my dairy goats but have put it off for an hour since its so nasty outside,,,, a cup of tea beckons. Shoud be starting my next big MOC (planned to start it last month) but wondering if I should put it off for a bit more and enter the mini modular competition instead.... found this thread while idling; it suited my mood perfectly!
  6. Capitol Building for me, too, please, if there's any left! What a great price!
  7. Built as a set of commissioned works for Warren Elsmore's book Brick by Brick Dinosaurs and his tour Brick Dinos , this series of dinosaur dioramas is the culmination of six months of hard work, late nights, lots of research and loads of fun! Each dinosaur has been designed as accurately as possible and has been placed in a setting suitable to its environment and era. (I call my collection "Jurassic Brick" as a whim, since I am well aware that many of the creatures actually lived during the Cretaceous period!) Anyone interested in building these dinos should get a copy of Warren Elsmore's book. Warren did a brilliant job creating clear, step-by-step instructions which turn my rather complicated models into something readers can confidently build at home themselves. I really enjoyed designing this series of dinosaurs and hope others get pleasure from building them! 8. Thanks, Are! Actually, I had to build two of them since I needed a prototype (the travel agency wanted the model glued and I was afraid to glue whilst building unless I was sure of what I was doing!) So, my "copy" is going to the Paredes de Coura fan weekend.... it seemed a fitting location since the real cathedral is so close by. And yes, having to build two meant I had to have double of everything in stock!
  9. Built as a commissioned work for an Irish travel agency promoting the Camino di Santiago, this model of the famous Santiago de Compostela cathedral was created on a tight budget and an even tighter timeframe of only eight days! Since there was no time to order any parts, I could only use parts that were already in my collection. The biggest challenge, however, was to incorporate as much detail as possible in order to make the model instantly recognisable and yet keep it to the required scale for ease of transportation, display, etc. Completed in January 2017, the model consists of 4,548 elements. For a clearer, more detailed view, (or to see some of my other work) please visit http://janetvand.deviantart.com/gallery/ and click on a folder option from the left-hand side. Thanks!
  10. It would indeed be so but, fortunately, my son was in Gunzburg last October (loved it!) and my daughter exhibited at Skaerbaek last September (which included a day in Billund) so neither of them have had a deprived childhood!
  11. This sounds fine to me! By the way, it'll be my daughter coming with me instead of my son (they agreed to take turns!) She's 18.
  12. A double room would have been enough for us, but if there is not a second one available, then the family room you have listed is okay.
  13. I have a couple of the Limited Edition Green Arrow Dimensions polybags, if anyone is interested (new, sealed) https://img.bricklink.com/ItemImage/ON/0/71342-1.png
  14. I was thinking maybe a car with a trailer...
  15. Signing up: myself and my daughter. Need reservations at Kirchenbauerhof: Yes, we'ii take the last double room if it's still available, please. 2 people, Weds. to sunday (4 nights) Member of RLUG: Yes, have card with sticker! Transport: Sharing car with the Fenzs, hopefully Looking forward to seeing all the fun people from last year and meeting new ones!
  16. Absolutely love this build! Obviously a lot if thought, care and attention to detail has gone into this and it shows. The pond, the trees and the choice of colours are my favourite aspects.
  17. Looking forward to it already!!! Last year was our first eurobricks event to go to and it was brilliant. Count us in for sure!
  18. I don;t usually care for cars all that much but I found the clean lines and sleek, unfussy overall appearance of this model quite pleasing. Well done!
  19. One of the difficulties in building modulars these days is how to make your models stand out amongst the many, many fine examples already in existence. You have certainly succeeded in doing this! I think it's partly because of your very clever use of parts (I particularly like the large arched windows and the dome) and also because of the way all the buildings have their own individuality yet form a pleasing, cohesive group. Well done.
  20. A sweet shop or bakery would be nice, even if we already had winter village and friends versions. It's been a while since a post office set has been released, so that would be a good candidate too. And, of course, it would have been nice to have had a modular library..... There is certainly plenty more scope for upgrading the interiors even more. I recently did some interior decor in my "Random Rooms" MOC; it was a lot of fun and exteremely satisfying. I think it should be possible to embellish the interiors of future modulars without pushing the prices up too much, since a couple of handfuls of small parts can make a big difference,
  21. I call this series of models my "Random Rooms" because they are a random depiction of interiors; they don't attach to anything, nor are they part of a larger model. Originally built as a commissioned work for a film set, each room needed to be large enough for the actor to reach in and handle the accessories and also allow for cameras & lights. Much of the decor has been "brick-built", as standard Lego doors, chairs, etc. were too small for the scale required. (An interesting challenge!) The four rooms together were completed in March 2016 and took a total of 16 hours to build. For a more in-depth look and to view some of my other works, please visit Janet VanD's Gallery and click on the folder icons on the left-hand-side. Thanks!
  22. Great photos of what are now happy memories! See you all next year (or sooner, for those of you I'll see in Paredes de Coura)!!!
  23. We just finished unpacking all our Lego; I can't believe it all fit in the luggage! ( Although one bag was only 20g below the weight limit!) We had a fabulous time! Thanks, everyone, for making it all such fun. Even though it was our first Eurobricks event, we really felt welcomed and part of the "gang". Looking forward to Günzburg already!
  24. I built mine the day the competition was announced...., and I don't dare look at it again now because I'll be tempted to pull it apart, redo it or mess around with it in some way, with no time to put it back together again!
