  1. Thanks man, I was a little surprised with so many people loving my displays. The kids loved the minifig display stand that I will post pics of soon. Its a shame I didn't realise who you where and we didn't get time to chat. Thanks to all the guys from SydLug that organised such a wonderful and successful event, I had a great time and look forward to next years event, bigger and better!
  2. Nice ones Oky. It's wrong what you done with Darth and leia. Farther and daughter???
  3. The first post has been updated with a pic. Just need to resize it and replace my current avatar image.
  4. Same thing happen to me, conformation on shipping then a email saying there is a delay on the warehouse. If I miss out on the promo fig like I did last year I'm going to seriously complain to Lego. The only reason I by from the Lego shop is to get the promos as you can always find it cheaper. If I miss out again I may never buy from the Lego store ever again, too much hassle and too expensive, have to wait 2 - 3 weeks for the goods to arrive here in Australia when UK and US get their orders the next day. We have no other way to get them, no Lego shop to go to, only order on-line and ship from the UK . Rant over.
  5. Nice thick foliage. you have captured this scene well. I also love the offset bunker and snot doors. Good luck in the contest, you should give the other competitors a run for their money.
  6. Awsome 2MC. That technique for the landing platform is brilliant, looks spot on. I also dig the AT-ST.
  7. Impressive, most impressive. Love that window and captured that sceen successfully.
  8. After building a little over the last year I can really appreciate the time and effort people put into builds. In most cases with me part consrtaints force you to redesign parts of my mocs therefor maybe making it less detailed. There is a lot of skill in shrinking mocs down, with the right part selection and some ingenuity people make very accurate looking mocs, look at Legostiens minis for example. Sometimes it's hard to tell how much effort has gone into mocs but when I view them I try and appreciate what they have done and in your case with the AT-AT I can see some really effort in making it articulated, reasonably accurate for that scale. I just don't think people really knows what is put into making something like this.
  9. This is so cool, I want to build one. I can see from what everyone is saying that it's not super detailed but so much more that TLG version have us. IMO it's detailed enough to be added to your UCS masterpeices. I love 3 in the cockpit good job and accurate, speeder still looks a little big but well done on getting it that small and still getting a minifig in there. Legs and feet look cool and it's nice that whole thing has good articulation. What will we see next?
  10. The new progress looks good. Here is my build of the palace. Looking at it again yours is looking to much better than mine. Like I said earlier I would have loved to build mine more like yours but due to parts and time this is what I ended up with.
  11. Awsome job creating this sceen. Anther great moc without licence elements. I would agree that Han in carbonite would look better but as always usually restricted by parts. You just keep out doing your self Legosteine.
  12. That looking good mate. I built a Jabba's palace for the ROJ community build, reminds me a lot of mine. I ran out of time and parts but would have loved to put more into it. I'll be watching this build in antisapation.
  13. Awsome! I love the snot work on the gun ship. You can tell you have put a lot of time into this build and congratulations is well deserved.
  14. Really nice build . Can only see a few studs in the whole thing, it looks so smooth and clean.
  15. I ended up going with Amazon.fr an they here the only one who would send me all 7 sets to Australia. Amazon.com was way cheaper for the sets but cant ship to Aus. The total for the sets alone was only 237.10. It cost me $370.43 shipped. not too bad considering that the Aussie RRP will be $440 - $450 approx. It saved me a few bucks and I don't need to wait until they release Dino in Australia in Aug-Sep. I was charged $45 Aus for shipping which is not too bad. They are partial shipping the 3 largest sets and they are weighing 4.5kg.
  16. Nice one . How different things could have been.
  17. Thanks man, a little disappointed that I missed the blog spot but it works really well as my avatar. I was due for a change. I had fun building this though and want to do another in the future. I learnt a bit while making it like 'don't push the parts into position until your completely happy with it'. You know how hard it is getting a part out of the middle, the brick separator won't help you.
  18. Just want to bump this thread, not much news on here at the moment. I want to buy the hole collection of Dino shipped to Australia for my sons birthday, Im thinking Amazon.fr, .it or .com would be the best place to start. Amazon.com is the cheapest with the US pricing but I know shipping will kill me. Later to day I'm going to add the itms to the cart from each store to see what comes up cheaper. I was just wondering is there are any great deals going around at the moment apart from Amazon?
  19. Thanks for the comments guys. I originally took the first reference shot with the iPhone Lego photo app to break down the pixels into blocks, but as I didn't have 1x1 square plates I could not follow the design. I only used it for an approximate size reference then after that I didn't really use it at all and just looked at the main pic that I supplied at the bottom of my original post. Im not that happy with the eyes and changed them a few times to get them to looking better. At the moment they are really too small but at the current scale of the build its hard to get the shapes right and get a bigger pupal and iris and have less white of the eyes. I do want to display it later in the year at a show so I want to get back on it when I have time and improve the design more. Hopefully I can pick up or order a few bricks as I want more dark red shading in the design but ran out of parts as usual. If anyone else has some good ideas on improving the portrait you more than welcome to comment. As all mosaics do they always look better from further away. I've updated my profile pic and it looks better small, even they eyes look better but still need work.
  20. I have my entry up now here.
  21. That's awesome man, really good job. Cant pick much on that, great details and instantly recognisable.
  22. I have updated and finished my Darth Maul Portrait that I will display at the Sydney Brick Show in Sydney, Australia on the 2 -3rd June. I originally made it for the Episode 1 community build. I bought a bulk lot and it had pink elements so I revisited the eyes to make them brighter and IMO they are much better. I also sorted more red and black plates to ad extra details. The mouth and chin are much better and tried to smooth the side of the face more. What do you guys think? I also build a Lego stand to display it and will update it with a pic when I can. Hi guys, Here is my entry for TPM CB. 3 weeks ago I started Darth Maul when my original idea become to hard after time and part constraints. I first started building a more simple design with my limited bricks, so I went back over it here and there when I had spare time to add extra details. Ultimately I would have loved to do the whole thing in single square plates but I have only used around 20 singles in the whole build. All other parts are 2x1 or larger which made it harder to get lines of the face correct. I spent a lot of time pulling parts in and out and replacing large areas of the same colour with larger plates and using the smaller ones for other places when I ran out of parts. Its pretty much finished but I still want to work a little more on it and display it at the Sydney Brick Show later this year in June. Here is the original inspiration. Just glad to get something finished for the CB and I'm pretty happy with what I build from the parts I have.
  23. Hay Guys, I have nearly finished mine. I was hoping it would not end up as a WIP, as I'm running out of parts and time. Just need to put on the final touches and I'll be working on mine on Friday night I'm sure. For a teaser I'm building a Darth maul... What could it be???
  24. Nice little Vig. You've captured the scene well.
  25. Wow it even doubles as an escape pod. Awesome job on this monster B-wing.
