  1. Ever since the inception of the UCS line I've never once been convinced of buying a UCS set (although that A-wing from a few years ago looked pretty great) but I always like to check out the latest result of Lego's efforts. But this one is a mess. It has some great features like the hexagonal fuselage and I think the engines are correctly sized this time. But on the other hand there's the scale of R2 (I couldn't even find him at first!), the gap between the wings when locked in neutral position and somehow Lego doesn't seem to know how to get the colors right. And are those flippers on the cannon tips? I still maintain that the 7140 version is unbeaten, at least when it comes to system scale ones, and it certainly looks better than this UCS version overall. Maybe it's what others said, the old light grey works wonderfully for the X-wing.
  2. For those of you who are living in Germany, do you know if the three new sets are Lego exclusives or if they'll also pop up on Amazon eventually?
  3. I would certainly be interested. I love the N-1 and also appreciate what they did with it in Mando, but the current set is just bad.
  4. I'm late to the party but great work! I love me some Star Wars background vehicles so I love the Cloud Car, I even own three 7119 ones.
  5. If it is indeed a Coruscant Guard Gunship, I don't think I'll buy one. If it's a regular one, I'll most certainly buy one. I still need one for my collection, and I want it to look like the 7163 version. For clarity, I don't want to mod an existing set, especially if it's that big. I'm also not gonna bricklink an older version without the accompanying figs, I want a complete set. As for sets I have multiples of, back in the day I bought four 7201 Final Duel II's, because of the stormtrooper. I also have three 7119 Cloud Cars because I love those (new cloud car pilots don't fit in them! REEEE) and three 7140 X-wings, two without figures and I put Biggs and Wedge in them. There are also several sets I have two of, namely 4500 snowspeeder, 7134 A-wing, 7139 Ewok attack, 7667 Imperial dropship, 40558 Clone command station and I think I have two 7250 clone scout walkers.
  6. They actually made one, 75272. Somewhat oversized, heavily overpriced. Anyway I'll try to contribute some ideas to this thread, I want to do that occasionally but then I think about details like pricing and minifigs. And then I stop writing my posts.
  7. If this republic gunship turns out to be a dark red Coruscant Guard version I'm gonna be disappointed. I like niche (versions of) ships in general but since I still don't have a system scale gunship I want one that fits legions from AOTC, ROTS and TCW. I don't see myself buying it if these rumours about its colour scheme are true. Besides, I'm old and patient enough to wait for a regular version in hopefully less than ten years. My wallet (and my wife) can rest relatively easy though. But not entirely, since the Ghost is high on my list, and that one isn't exactly cheap either.
  8. Agreed, especially on the designs. The times they went beyond the blatant ripping off of OT vehicles (A-, B-, X-, Y-wing, TIE fighter, AT-ST? come on!) like the Resistance Bomber, the designs are actually Star Wars-y. Just a pity that those bombers were so crappy in-universe. I also remember liking the TIE dagger. As for Kylo Ren, his TIE silencer looks pretty cool but the Lego version was simply humongous, even for the relatively oversized ships from roughly 2008-2020. But yeah, I think the duel on Exegol might be the most obvious hole in Lego's ST assortment over the years. Probably not worth a quote set, but at least give it something like that duel from the Kenobi series.
  9. Those are some truly interesting sets, since my collection is still missing a Republic Gunship and a Ghost. I like the minifig selection of the Gunship, whereas I'm a bit disappointed about the Ghost not including Zeb. It doesn't bother me much though. I honestly didn't expect a Venator at that price point. No way I'd buy one, but its mere existence indicates a level of confidence in the PT era. So that's good. I don't mind the figs behind such a paywall, the good captain is bound to appear in a cheaper set or magazine gift. And the swamp speeder... I don't know, those weird Ahsoka clones were about the most cringe-inducing in-universe expression of Filoni's love for Ahsoka, his own precious Star Wars OC. I'm still gonna pick up the set when there's a discount though, because I'm gonna regret if I don't.
  10. Last week I got the 75345 clone BP, took Amazon only three months to reach a discount price that I couldn't say no to. A fine addition to my collection, not in the least because I still love playing that game with a buddy of mine.
  11. I'm in a weird position where I thoroughly dislike the ST and couldn't care less about any sets from those movies, yet on the other hand I genuinely feel for people like you who do want sets from those movies. My dislike for those movies does not extend to the people who like them and wants sets from them So fingers crossed, one day...
  12. What we really need is a TROS diorama, with the quote "somehow Palpatine has returned". Needs figures like Poe, other Resistance members and old Han Solo (who has returned somehow as well).
  13. I actually mean more normal sets, even smaller ones. Like the carbon freezing chamber, duel on Naboo or a bit bigger, like the 2020 Final Duel set or Palpatine's arrest. You know, sets that won't need you to break the bank. And I can't stop thinking about the possibility of sets like the OG final duel sets, Jedi defense or those appendices to the first version of Jabba's palace. Lego is still making such small sets, like the Guardians of the Galaxy headquarters (76253). But I'm verging into wishlisting territory. I'm not particularly looking forward to the Yavin IV base but I'm trying to keep an open mind about it.
  14. I'd rather have location sets without the redundant black base build and random SW quote. I certainly hope that these dioramas haven't 'replaced' that kind of sets.
  15. Regarding the dioramas, I was hoping for them to be interesting enough to justify the price. Unfortunately the emperor's throne room looks quite dull compared with its playset counterparts. I also don't like Luke's hairpiece... I get that the classic minifig hairpiece looks a bit out of place considering the vast amount of different specialized hairpieces we have nowadays (which I dislike... but that's a topic for another time), but this hairpiece somehow looks worse than the original one. I like the window build though. The Endor diorama also has big issues but those have been summed up by other users quite nicely already. And the 4+ set... yeah, I'm not the target audience anyway (even though technically I'm 4+), but it looks like a Duplo set somehow got itself transformed into a System set. And maybe it's just me but I was under the impression that I didn't need such large parts to build something from the instructions when I was four years old. I would have loved for the 4+ range to only use more simple building techniques (i.e. no SNOT techniques) instead of adding those big specialized parts. And the minifigs... Oh well. So yeah, no chance that I'll add a diorama or 4+ set to my collection any time soon.
  16. I hope this question gets noticed in this onslaught of comments: do I understand correctly that there's another 1000+ pcs set rumoured apart from 75354? I read something about a possible Amazon exclusive a few pages back, but I'm not going to sift through all those comments to find the source.
  17. Got myself the 40531 Beru's Kitchen. The aftermarket price in Germany has been stabilized and I got it together with a good deal on the 40567 Forest Hideout.
  18. Yeah, I'm not feeling this set either. I don't mind a grey blob at all as long as it's a good depiction of the source material, but as a set it just misses something to make it a bit more lively. Oh well, as long as you lot like it... At 50 euros it's practically a steal
  19. Yeah, but those were two planes and not a plane and a car. I prefer this upcoming version actually, but since I'm Dutch I have this urge of being extra stingy about the money I spend on available lego sets
  20. I don't know about those price hikes really. Maybe it is because I currently live in Germany but lots of sets are on discount for significant periods of time in multiple (web)shops. I don't think I even saw the dioramas for full price on Amazon for instance, and Obi-Wan's AOTC starfighter was like 23 euros upon release. I don't remember ever seeing it for full price as well. So I'm pretty curious to see how the online price of that microfighter will develop.
  21. I said "if" because it is not certain. Unfortunately it is within the realm of possibilities and if it actually is the case (as I said, we don't know) then I'm trying to show a possibility to take the high road in these matters. I'm not even calling my fellow christians to a boycott or anything, so it would be cool if you would cool your jets. Anyway, 40 euros for that plane chase... gonna have to wait a bit for it to reach a decent price on discount I guess.
  22. As for now I'm simply glad that I'll still have the opportunity to get the plane chase, hopefully for a good price like I did when Obi-Wan's jedi starfighter came out last year (instantly 23 euros on Amazon). I'm still wondering what will happen to that ToD set and for what reason. If it's the religious thing, I won't buy that Raiders set with the Ark of the Covenant because as a christian it does not sit well with me at all that they would make such an object as a toy in a Lego set. But that doesn't mean I'm gonna make a big stink about it and try to get the set cancelled.
  23. Quite surprising to see the reveal of such a small set so many months in advance actually. That price hike is... wow. Luckily I'm not interested anyway, and I don't care about a 'new and improved helmet print'. I'm actually a bit disappointed in the snub fighter. I already knew that my hopes for it resembling the R-41 Starchaser would probably be in vein, but even though it looks OK it does not really give me Star Wars vibes. On the other hand, I like both Nikto and don't mind them having the same faceprint at all. Lego has become too detailed with faceprints for a long time IMO (but that's just me). The price is pretty steep to be sure but when it inevitably drops below 25 euros I'll see if I've warmed up to it.
  24. I'm positively surprised about the return of midi scale ships. To be honest this model looks like it's not correctly proportioned, it looks a bit too pointy. Also a bit expensive, which sucks if it's a Lego exclusive. But overall a positive development, here's to a midi ISD that takes away my regret of never picking up 8099. As for Rex in the swamp speeder, it would be positive that TLG would put such a desirably figure in a relatively cheap set, just like they did with Phase II Rex in 75012. I just hope it won't be another 501st army builder apart from that, except if it were a Phase I set of course. I wouldn't mind that at all. And there's also the possibility of only named characters, like they did with the Bounty Hunter Battle Pack. Oh well, we'll see. For me, this year in LSW is looking a bit better already.
