I guess U just have to wait it out. I've made nearly 100 BL orders the last 10 years or so and there's a tendency of 10% of my orders in limbo somewhere. they finally arrived though after nearly 2 months. Some of the delays were caused by my country's national postal for holding the package up at the Customs.

Is Bricklinking a set always this hard?
alanyuppie replied to ResIpsaLoquitur's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Yep its hard , especially the time taken to pick and source all the parts exceed the time taken to build it by 10 or 20 fold . A cake would no longer be desirable if it takes 20 hour of continous effort to bake it. -
Well I've had the privilege to get this set at a very decent RRP (20% cheaper compared to last year's Creator sets of the same pricepoint) . However, the alternate models ended up with a bunch of leftover parts. I hope future Creator sets would maximise the parts usage for all their alt modes . Leave no brick behind I'd say! Thank for the plug! - alanyap aka alanyuppie

Monetizing file sharing of LDD LXF files?
alanyuppie replied to sparkart's topic in Forum Information and Help
It took alot of effort to produce the instructions for complicated MOCs. Although I'm offering mine for free at the moment, I understand why people requested for a bit of a token sum for theirs. I usually spent half a day of (thats 10 or more collective hours) just to make mine , from the gruelling tasks of snapping photos , and editing/cropping them, then performed a walkthrough/rebuild to ensure the steps are correct ... before it ended up as a PDF file ready for download in my blog /dropbox.- 12 replies

Too many gears and pins in Technic models.

LEGO minifigs might be better off armless coz armed minifigs are the bane of LEGO cities , and recently, swamps (where the need for new Police force is needed EVERY FREAKIN YEAR to handle the crime spree)

Enough with the n-th renditions of Police and fire related (vehicles/buildings) already!

Not having any credit card helps. =) I constantly begs my other half to help with my online purchases. Without a CC in hand at the stores, made me to think twice too (after peeking inside the wallet). Yeah there are dozens of set I wish to buy but another CODE of mine came into play to help me filter out the needs from the wants: CODE #2: sets with hinges and wedges are highly desirable. ANTI-CODE: Sets with big donut wheels are a big turnoff.
-
My CODE is simple. when the wallet is empty, leave the place empty handed.

I'd say grainy slopes is not suitable for stickers to be applied, hence they're deprecated?

Assuming she did the same with all her other customers as well, that tells alot about her , don;t you think so? I agree with the background check as well. Ask her for another photo of her flanked by LEGO models/MOCs and drawers in the background to verify her existence as an AFOL.

When I was a kid.. I did the same by drawing lego castle using 2 point perspective . Well, thats it. I was fun for a while but my drawing was never meant to be materialised using lego bricks (it would probably need more than 10,000 parts)

Sorting aint fun.

Unsightly looking bricks can become fodders and become internal scaffoldings and frames to strengthen /hold up huge MOCs. I used some of my yellowed white parts as a filler often for my MOCs =)

[LDD] Models made from pictures from the back of old set boxes
alanyuppie replied to ___'s topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
It's a pity LEGO didn't do this anymore... but these B-designs without instructions seriously inspired me to tackle them although not reaching 100% accurracy. Thats the point of LEGO , to keep the kids occupied for weeks at end. Now it's about peddling more alternate models in websites to be followed.- 23 replies

Wow thats a pretty detailed build... comes with all the trappings (pun intended) too. I remember I built a multicolored one as a kid and used (gasp) vines plucked from garden outside as the cable.

Infernus' jet mode resembled one character from Transformers universe (guess who?). He is named so because of his fiery red color scheme and with spikes and horns all over. He was known to rise from the depths of Cybertron hell, a culmination of millions of sparks who died horribly in the smelting pool. The jet transforms into robot without taking off parts. And the transformation sequence is incredibly simple indeed! Even though set 31032 offered tons of balljoints... I've used them all up leaving only one orphaned socket part (there's no balljoint to complement it). If only they offer this one part in this set and I will be able to make an articulated head. Presently Infernus only can look forward and unable to rotate his head. :P One of the major highlights in my project is how to make the nosecone halves (forming robot legs) aligned with each other . One of the way is to implement a peg on one half and a peghole on the opposing half. The 1-stud long peg looks ugly but I always favor structural integrity over aesthetics. ^ the aforementioned orphaned balljoint socket ended up at the back of his pelvis. You will notice he don't have eyes (read: there's no suitable transparent parts from set 31032 to be used for eyes.). I don't think he need proper eyes (or face even!) since he's literally one hell of a character, like grim reaper. :) ^ Strolling casually to Hell's Kitchen to get energon cubes. For more photos and building instruction, do visit my blog entry below. Thanks for your support guys. Alanyuppie's LEGO Transformers: LEGO 31032 Alternate Mode: Infernus with instructions !

If its cost issue, then the mechs would've lacked ELABORATE upper body designs and backpacks.

I seldom read books but when I saw Brick By Brick on the shelf , I instinctively picked it up with no hesitation at all. Yep its an excellent read and I'm more inspired to become a proud AFOL than ever before.

LEGO's greatest risks in the future
alanyuppie replied to TheLegGodt's topic in General LEGO Discussion
1) Hasbro's Thundercracker Blue and LEGO Thunder wings blue are of different tone. 2) Both happens to transform from a jet to robot*, but both jets are OBVIOUSLY different from each other. And both robot* modes are different in terms of proportion too. 3) LEGO not peddling the alternate design (aka robot mode) as sentient or with a biodata similar with characters from TF universe. *I would prefer to call LEGO's one a MECH / MECHA rather than a robot. =) *there is no patent/copyright AFAIK on robot-transforming-into-jet-plane. Your comparison is vague at best. -
I have a mild fetish for heavy/construction vehicles, trucks and all. So every time I drove pass one.. my built-in LDD renderer inside my brain will start to scan the vehicle and see how I can a MOC a LEGO Transformer out of it / which component becomes the arm/legs/body and so on.
-
I use LEGO parts to quantify my monetary losses in real world. Eg. "wow what an expensive meal that was.. I could've bought 120 lego parts with that price". "OMG.. (looks at electric bill).. this could've gotten me a decent Creator set"

What set has the worst PPP ever?
alanyuppie replied to Sir Brickalot's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Those with tank treads! I considered 1 tread loop in the model to be one part rather than 60++ pieces. -
Bootleg Super Heroes minifigs - worth it or not?
alanyuppie replied to KingPixels's topic in Community
There not LEGO.. and even as LEGO knockoffs.. they're mostly KOs of non-new LEGO sets too (assuming new as in 2015 new)
