  1. Along the treacherous banks of the Qar Ahken River, Jakorin Swiftsword and his men finally emerge from the humid, suffocating jungle. With spirits, energy, and water nearly depleted, it was a truly joyous sight when they stumbled upon their target: the aqueduct. Soldier 1: "Gah! Hurry up and let me out of this green torture chamber!!!" The soldier shoved his way out aggressively, angering his companion in front of him. Soldier 2: "Quit yer whinin'!" Soldier 1: "Don't tell me what to do. Least not here of all places. I've never seen spiders that big!" The soldier made an over-exaggerated size estimate with his hands, and his companion shook his head tiredly. Soldier 2: "I should have thrown one at you and let it put you out of your misery." The first soldier scoffed at him. Soldier 1: "Any longer in there and I just might have let you do it." Suddenly, Jakorin, who is at the lead, holds up his hand to halt. The clanking of armor and weapons stops. Jakorin: "Men, we've made to the aqueduct. And it looks like with the best resistance you could ever ask for: none whatsoever." A small cheer went up. Jakorin pointed to the river. Jakorin: "Fill up your canteens men. Then, I want this place fortified and ready for any aggression we might receive from our Ulandian and Desert King friends." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ And there it is folks! Sorry about the short story, not much time. And sadly, not much time could I put into the build either. But, I'm still happy with it. C and C always appreciated! Next target if we win is D3.
  2. Brilliant! Just brilliant!
  3. Excellent job once again Sarahjoy! Your style is easily recognizable and always enjoyable.
  4. I'm honored to build alongside such talented competitors. And the builds for this challenge helps to show why. I feel like the competition was tight between the HC and DK!
  5. An inspiring little build! Well done!
  6. Nicely done! The textures and scene are both very nice.
  7. Thank you! That means a lot considering all the stiff competition. Yeah, I may not have thought that all the way through. Thanks Dan! Thanks! Thank you Maxim!
  8. Wow, now things are really heating up! (Too cliche?) Great job!
  9. Brilliant work!
  10. Thanks! Thanks Graham! Thanks a lot! Thanks Gideon!
  11. Thanks! Thank you Adair! Yeah, I figured I'd use something cliche in this one. Thanks! Thanks! I'm not sure if I came up with that idea or not. I know I haven't seen anyone else use it.
  12. Not long after their arrival in Kaliphlin, Jakorin and his men were given their first task: Take out the spies and scouts along the Arkbri, whether they be Ulandian or Desert King followers. Already friends with some of the natives who despised the intrusion of the Ulandians on their territory, a Guvandian desert tribe warrior named Ibiki offered his guidance to a nearby Ulandian scout outpost. Jakorin accepted graciously, and included Ibiki in his plan to destroy the outpost and any scouts within. Dressed in his Kaliphlin atire to avoid immediate suspicion, he and Ibiki alone decided to take on the outpost. Ibiki alone was silent enough and could handle the terrain. Ibiki had drifted into the Arkbri a ways back from the outpost and was supposed to swim up along side the riverbank to avoid being seen. It was the element of surprise that held the key to success for this mission. Jakorin couldn't see him as he approached the small outpost and hoped dearly he was nearby. It was exactly noon: the designated time for the mission to start. Jakorin felt sweat roll down his forehead as he approached the gate. Whether it was from the unfamiliar heat or nervousness, he could not tell. He gulped when the guard above spotted him and yelled out. Ulandian guard: "Halt, there! This position is off limits to civilians! We are under strict orders from the First Centurion to end anyone who interferes!" Jakorin: (In his best Kaliphlin accent) "Forgive me, sire! I come to the river for a drink and perhaps any spare food you can offer. I haven't eaten in-" Ulandian guard: "Get lost or I'll blow this horn and you'll have twenty men like me raining down on you within the hour!" Jakorin: "I mean you no harm! I can pay for my food if you've any!" Jakorin allowed himself a quick smile as that caught the Ulandian's attention. Ulandian guard: "How much?" Jakorin: "I just need enough to last me-" Ulandian guard: "No, you idiot, not food! How much money you got in that belt pouch?" Jakorin: "Lots, sire. I hardly ever spend it!" Jakorin grinned as the guard jumped down from his perch. He heard the latch on the wooden door click, and then it swung open, revealing the Ulandian guard holding a crossbow pointed directly at him. Jakorin frowned at his hostility and ignorance of the situation. Ulandian guard: "Alright, scum! I think you know how this goes. Hand over the money and you get to live." Jakorin watched as the guard inched away from the safety of his outpost and dared to threaten Jakorin at a closer range. He did his best not to dart his eyes to the left as he saw Ibiki begin to clammer out of the water and onto the bank. Scarily silent, he couldn't help but think. And just when the guard was only a step or two away, and Jakorin was feigning to reach for his pouch, Ibiki struck! He pulled his knife with a quick hiss and then rammed it into the back of the guard. Jakorin leapt to right just in time, for the surprise attack caused the guard to clench his fist and pull the trigger. The bolt whizzed past his head and skidded off in the sand. The guard dropped to the ground with a thud. Jakorin: "Well done, Ibiki!" Ibiki smiled. Ibiki: "He no dead. Just poison from dagger make him sleep. He make good slave for my people. He scout us and allies no more." Jakorin grinned. Nothing went to waste around here. ----------------------------------------------- [Edit] If I win, I move for the next spot to be E8.
  13. I second this. A well written chapter and even more exciting to build for. Also, Gideon, is there a PM thread I could join so I know where the HC wants to coordinate attacks?
  14. Nice double layer build! I'm always a fan of those!
  15. Gah, too good!!! Your work is amazing and this is no exception. Well done!
  16. Nice build and story! I really liked it!
