  1. Didn't it (vindicator/Avenger) used to have something in it about taking damage meant for another?
  2. You're right I was about to get blustery and angry for no reason, but with him there I just couldn't do it.
  3. I still like it. A good way for warrior defenders to go.
  4. Let me just pop in that I am quite pleased with how civil this discussion is remaining. A fairly rare thing on the interwebs. Good Show old boys. (hmm where is my Downton abby font when I need it?)
  5. There are times when Vindsval finds it hard to keep his beast subdued, to keep his "humanity" this it putting his will to the test. He was your son, and now nothing of him remains. Nor does anything remain of this thing you call the Twisted Rosalia. IT was your boy's restless spirit that was animating the discarded remants of your past works. It was him reaching out to you. That is what was "distracting" you from your work. Your child trying to speak with you again. For all you did, he died loving you. You will honor his memory, you will do all that you are able to make this thing right in His eyes. The disruptions will bother you no longer good doctor. He reaches into his pouch and removes the syringe and bottle of "possible cure" He tosses them at the doctor's feet. I want nothing more to do with those. Give us what you promised us for our service. He looks at the severed stump that was once his left arm Though you took much from me, I will not hold it against you. For the sake of your boy.
  6. Vindsval's rage builds within him. He grasps the bleeding wound that was once his arm, but now ends cleanly at the shoulder. Wanderer, grant me strength to walk the longer path. The Holy man falls to his knees and begins to pray. His remaining right arm glows with a golden light. The blood spurting from his shoulder begins to slow, and then to stop. He stands, pale and shaken. His eyes burning from the shock, the pain, and the hatred that has been building for this man. If it were not for the oaths I have sworn I would strike you down where you stand, no only for this but for your SON as well. We did enter the Quarantine, we followed the spitir of your boy Isaac there. To the source of the disease haunting your home. It was there we found the home of your son's spirit. It was there that it manifested into and incarnation of disease and Pestilence. It was there I was forced to destroy what what left of your boy. A soul corrupted along with his body. It was in the Quarantine that your boy begged us not to hurt his father and to ask for that father's forgiveness. It is because of him you stand, but you will answer. Why did you leave him to die?
  7. The Half-Giant continues to look at the wounds on his arm. He pours some water from a drinking flask onto his arm and wipes away some of the grime. With his skin cleaner he can clearly see that there is a brownish discoloration around the edges of the bites. Is it his imagination, or is the discoloration spreading as he looks. Doctor, What did your experiment do to me? Why are these wounds festering so quickly? WE destroyed what we found there.
  8. The success of a cross gender character in any form of storytelling (IE a male writer writing female character, not a cross dressing character) lies within the skill of the writer. It takes a skilled writer and observer of human nature to successfully portray someone of the opposite sex, or opposing creed, or foreign culture. I would assume anyone who is an avid reader know exactly what I am talking about. The quickest way to ruin an excellent story is to throw in something you don't know how to write for. And this goes for just about everything from setting, to character, to motivation. I for one would write a terrible war story. I have no background with the subject beyond an academic nature. It would read like someone telling a story about something he read about rather than about something that was experienced. I have read many novels where an exceptionally good author tried to write a compelling character for the opposite sex and failed miserably because they either fell into archetypal cliches, over did it (well I am a man and I would do this, so a woman must do exactly the opposite), or just ended up writing a man that acted like a woman or a woman that acted like a man. Having a real reason for a character or an order to be gender based goes a very long way to help it be successful. AS I said earlier there have ALWAYS been gender based order, sects, and organization throughout human history. And generally there has been a good reason for it. Usually a cultural bias of one form or another, but to that society it is an excellent reason. So long as the mores and culture of the world everyone has created here supports the decision to create a gender based job class I say go for it.
  9. Vindsval looks down at his hands. All of him is green, what is this sadistic fool asking him. He looks more closely at the arm chewed by the leeches. There does seem to be something strange about the tooth marks. Where there should have been reddened damaged flesh, there was something else. Perhaps, maybe... They are Bite marks Doctor, all of me is green, but Yes, there does seem to be a strange color to the edges of the wounds.
  10. Vindsval Does the same. He immediately finds a number of bite marks from the barrel of leeches. But there is so much filth caked on him from trekking through the sewers that it is hard to see much for certain. Your Son's "friends" left several marks on my Left arm. They caused little damage. What is it you want us to be looking for exactly?
  11. Vindsval begins to growl out an answer, but at the last moment grits his teeth and takes a deep breath. We have indeed completed your errand Doctor. He nearly growls the final word. His teeth nearly crack as he attempts to control his anger at this man who would experiment on his own son. I apologize for our condition, we had to traverse your sewers to find the source of your "Disturbance." Would you come speak with us. i find shouting through a door. . . wearisome.
  12. I will not simply tell him of his son, I will demand an explanation. OOC: Endgame said he would wrap it up this weekend.
  13. Historicaly there have always been gender specific orders. I think it would be fine.
  14. Glad you are doing alright man. The weather the past few weeks has been nothing to laugh at.
  15. That I like. Fantastic and believable all at the same time. I need to read the back story in the other thread before I comment any more though.
  16. So Henry's are this sites version of the people's choice awards?
  17. This class seems to be right up the alley I am wanting to walk Vindsval down. I wouldn't mind it getting approved. I wouldn't mind it at all.
  18. I can dig it, what would the pre-requisites be?
  19. Zoooo , hey what was that wizzing over my head.
  20. Vindsval continues to move through the decrepit areas of the mansion. The whole time contemplating what he will do when he sees the doctor again. Is there any explanation that could excuse what his experiments turned his young son into?
  21. Only time will tell I suppose. Since advancement for characters at that level is going to be measured in months per level at the very fastest, it might not be a soon to come concern.
  22. I think making the dragon more of a team mate would benefit the class a great deal. It makes sense too since they seem to be treated as intelligent beings. It would allow greater freedom for the players and add that extra kick in the teeth the class seems to be missing. It would also add an element of danger and tension. If there are any old timey Roleplayers in the house, you might remember the extreme downside to a wizards familiar. If it was killed the wizards got smacked hard in return. Could the dragon bond be treated that way as well? If a Dragoons dragon was ever killed there could be consequences. The first being they lose access to the class obviously.
