  1. "Interesting..." OoC: We have? I briefly scanned the exposition with the king, and I didn't see it anywhere... Bother it. "We must remember to stop by there, and make sure their effects have been collected for return to the Hall." Lind purposely doesn't look towards Jinnipher."Okay, then...Unless anyone needs to buy something from the vending machines, I move we make a quick stop at the Commoner's Corner, and then get to work clearing out the Forest and Farmland, while moving north towards Algon."
  2. "The problem with that, is that sooner or later you're going to dry up the hot springs, by boiling them faster than they should...But, then again, we're going to kill the dragon so it's a mute issue." "Two questions: A, There were previous adventurers? and B, Where did they find them...?" "Sounds like fun." "Hey! Be careful of that!"
  3. Lind would have patted her on the back, but decided that perhaps that this might not be the best time for it. "We'll get 'im. This Moone isn't going into penumbra." "Why, why, oh why, does everyone keep saying things that people always say in stories immediately before a monster jumps out?!?"
  4. Note to self: Buy umbrella.
  5. OoC: So...we got up at 3 A.M.?
  6. "No, I'm afraid we've never met." Lind held out his hand. "L-Flynn Flisperer, e...Assassin, and representative of Heroica. Although, perhaps, not the very best one...Mind if I take a look at the machine? I took Basics of Mechanic Hacking back in the Forest..." "In that case we stay back from the water. Every time someone says they "saw something in the water", sooner or later a giant tentacle breaks the surface and starts trying to drag you away from the secret Dwarven door...yeah, different story."
  7. SPACE-CLOTH, SPACE-CLOTH, SPACE-CLOTH? If they're drops, and they're from space, or at least some foreign planet... This. So much this.Blender can do some pretty impressive results when you have le717's(Did I spell that right?) LDraw Importer installed: - But it will take forever to build everything in LDraw*. *I believe, though, there may be a newish way of importing LDD into Blender. But then you miss out on the huge pallet of decorations that LDraw has - especially the lovely selection of Castle torsos. Awhile back, I made a very rough model of Olegia from space:
  8. "Probably a better idea - I'm not sure how long this Barnacle stuff is good for..." "I thought this was a job, not a paid vacation," said Lind, looking towards the beautiful sight with appreciation. "Yeah, we won't be needing those..." "What's the machine for?" While waiting for the man to answer, Lind examined the vending machines.
  9. Lind frowned and turned away from Warlen. "...Yes sir." "Excellent question..." Lind furtively took in the surroundings, looking for anything that seemed the least bit peculiar.
  10. Lind turned slowly, and looked Warlen squarely in the eyes."Don't slap me." "Pleasure to meet you.I'm Flynn...Lind...I'm the guy that drives everyone else crazy. Traditionally, I'm called "Shut Up," but I preferentially go by Lind. Call me whatever..." "Hey, nothing wrong with hot springs." "Is there any place you can donate to the pantry?" "A-ha! Yes, I believe we would, thank you very kindly!"Vending machines, must remember to check out the vending machines...
  11. "That's what they tell me.They also tell me to "get down off the soap box". Something or other about "disturbing the public peace"..." Overhearing the words "brunette, elf, and freckles, a certain Munchkin's head swung around. "Huh. Funny. Cause I've been flirting with a brunette elf with very prominent, attractive freckles..." "The sad part is that that's some of the highest praise I've ever gotten... Lind audibly growled. "Rrrrr..."
  12. "Hey, you want to try explaining ether-fueled tesseraction, be my guest." "No, you're thinking of the guy with the handcannon. I'm the sane man of the group. Of course, if I was the insane one, then I'd be thinking I wasn't the insane one. But if I wasn't sane, then I wouldn't be wondering if I wasn't.Probably." "Fine, you try explaining it..." *yawn* *eyeroll* "But it wasn't teleportation! Teleporation is instantaneous travel between two points..." "And shopping, what stores are still open?"
  13. "Rats." "...Okay, that's just plain awesome." "Very, very much the same to you, sir! Many, many thanks for the trip!" "I thought he was quite charming." The Munchkin lowered his voice, seeing the person standing under the gate."Glad to see this place didn't get hit as hard as Cenauri..." "I guess that's my queue..." The Munchkin took a stance, and waved his arms in the air as he spoke, trying to demonstrate the principles he was describing."We are travelers who have come from a great distance away. Well, Cenauri. But, we did travel a great distance. As a shortcut. Through the very fabrics of space, time, and dimension. A journey powered and enabled by a higher understanding of the higher laws of ether, ley-lines, and..." The Munchkin realized that everyone's eyes had glazed over during the sentence. "Okay, imagine an apron. You have an ant standing on one end of the apron, and he wants to get to the other end. So, you use ether...or your hands, actually, your hands are standing in for ether-powered magic in this case, to draw the two corners of the apron together. The apron represents the fabric of space and time. Which is a thing. Anyways, you hold the two corners of the apron together, and the ant then only has to travel a tiny fraction of the distance that it would have originally had to travel to cross the full length of the apron. So...The whole world is actually a giant apron, and we had a magician hold its corners together so we could travel faster. And escape a dragon."
  14. Interesting - apparently 40% of #138's questees spent their early years being trained in a forest... KOTOR reference?
  15. And are we going to face Vorpalis in a forest of tulgey Tum-Tum trees?
  16. "Not you, another Mystic Knight, on a different quest."
  17. "I've always thought Urshanabi was a nice name..." Lind sighed."...Yeah, I have a way with women, too..." he muttered.
  18. "Seconded." "Excellent question..." "Munchkins aren't short," the Munchkin muttered. "I out-talked an Elvish Mystic Knight once. That was an accomplishment."
  19. The Munchkin rolled his eyes. "...Let me try explaining it as I might to another human, of a few less years than you. Say, about seventy-two.Time. Does. Not. Pass. The same. Here. Going at a normal speed, this whole jaunt would have only lasted a "few seconds." With our conversation, it will have lasted perhaps - and I'm being generous - two "few seconds". Vorpalis is fast, but if he could kill everyone on the island in less than a minute, I'm pretty sure he would have done it by now." "I have a way with words..."
  20. "Yes, m'Princess." "...Somedays it's just nice to pause a moment, and take in some introspection on the greater scale. Vorpalis will be there when we get back-" Unless he's decided to go to Eubric and kill Faust. That could be a problem. Should I bring that up?No, then it'll be "Lind, why'd you tell him where Faust was?!" "I didn't-" "Same thing!"... And there are all those other heroes at the Hall. They should be able to kill Vorpalis if he goes that way. And he was chasing us, last time I checked. So...I mean, I guess we should hurry this up a bit - but no, time flows differently here. How long we spend in here doesn't affect time outside of this...garden? Whatever it is, it's a really nice place. Pity we don't have more time to spend here. I mean, the Forest is nice, but this place - it's just so peaceful. There's no secrecy, no anything. Just...peace. It's a really nice place. "-and we can take care of him then. Time flows differently here, if I understood correctly. Studying the situation in here - getting some background, and the like - isn't going to worsen it out there. There isn't time for it to worsen out there. Or not terribly much, anyways..."
  21. "You should listen to him, Warlen. This chap's sharing some good philosophy."
  22. "Oh, they're completely real. It's just that they're more "beings with capabilities on a grander level than us," than they are "gods" - at least in the way most people define gods..."
  23. Got it.I wasn't trying to explain the cultural beliefs part, Lind was hinting that he "understood Charon's emotions in regards to tinkering with the world," and that it was "with direct tinkering that our...traditions diverge..." Normally I would keep it at that, but Charon is apparently an all-knowing - or close to it - archangel, so he would presumably know exactly what Lind was referring to, which I thought might get awkward...And then I try and defuse it, and end up making it more awkward.
  24. I'm not planning out Lind's whole story. As a Munchkin, he comes from a certain background*, which reflects onto certain aspects of his character, but beyond that, he's a fully autonomous being with quite literally nothing "planned out for the future."And the Munchkins very much don't know everything - that was dropped very early on*. They have a bit more knowledge about aliens than the rest of Olegia, but that's it. *The Munchkin quest chain does not, and has never involved Lind in any way, shape, or form. A very brief overview of it would make a few of his comments and actions make a little more sense, but the two things are very separate. **If they did know everything, then Lind's asking questions about almost everything the parties come across/encounter would be kind of redundant...
