  1. EDIT: Another mis-post. :frown: @Waterbrick Down: Could you please delete this, if that's in your mod arsenal?
  2. OoC: Sorry - I forgot that a player shouldn't be stating the actions of an NPC. "Affordable enough." Lind thrust the bag under his stool. "Falana Wine...that was the name... I'd forgotten..." He raised his hand. "I'll have what she's having - if it's an option..." Lind took a moment to respond. In the...how long had it been? A year? Longer...? since he had been part of Heroica, he had had a lot of time for self-reflection. A lot of time to reflect on his mistakes. Ever since that one moment he didn't want to let himself think about, on their journey to kill Immortalis, when his careless words - and actions - had nearly broken the party apart - he had been trying to change himself for the better. Trying to fix the mess he'd let himself slide into. It had been slow, but at least most of the party hadn't wanted to kill him, by the end of that quest. Most. He'd been here, and there, since then. Sometimes backsliding. Sometimes taking a small step forward. He hoped he'd changed for the better. But nobody'd here had been there to see that. He was still to everyone what he'd been at the end of that quest. And, he deserved that. Frankly, he was glad that anyone was still speaking to him, instead of just tip-toeing past him out the door. He nodded. "Karie. Yeah...been a really long time..."
  3. *Writes out long post I've been planning for several days* *Realizes post is probably way too long* *Can't find a way to shorten post* It's awkward, because I'm trying to play [CHARACTER] as having matured - which he has - but right now, he's pretty ticked off at having gotten "pulled over". So I have to write him as mature - but at the same time, write him as angry - but a mature angry. ...No idea if any of that's coming across or not.
  4. OoC: Not trying to jar quest flow, hence opening wording. (I checked with WBD first+tried to hint in Gen Dis, hopefully this doesn't come off as derailing/barging in. :frown:) Any of the party members descending down the stairs could hear a familiar voice coming from the bar. "Since when do I need a license to hunt Phlegmen?!" A certain Black Knight dumped a disturbingly drippy bag onto the counter. "Spent two weeks down in the sewer, just doing normal business - only to come up and have some uppity Town Watchman type start asking me "Oh, sir, do you have the proper permits for that?" Permits? Since when does a fellow need permits to hunt Phlegmen?!" The bartender started to back away, but the Knight was hardly finished. "Dodekube's gift to the honest knight, Phlegmen are - cut 'em apart, they're still alive, no blood, no guts - nothing to be ashamed of." He flipped the bag open. The barman blanched. "And now, I'll need a permit to hunt them. What's next? Regulating kobolds?" He waved a finger in the still-very-white barman's face. "I tell you, if this trend keeps up, you'll have to fill out a foot-tall stack of paperwork just to clear out a tavern's rat problem. This over-regulation is going to be the death of us..." He shook his head. "And then - then, he starts asking me if I'm a Hero. Oh, I don't know, tall, handsome guy with a sword, in mismatched armor apparently looted from half a dozen different countries, and with a freaking Crescent Union badge on my chest - no, no, clearly no Heroes here. Yes, I tell him, I'm pretty obviously a Hero, and your powers of observation speak volumes as to the skill of the Watch. Fortunately, that seemed to distract him, 'cause he ran off squealing about something or other. Ridiculous, all of it..." He took a long, deep breath. "So...what would it take to set me up with a water..."
  5. It's sad that it's all ending - I doubt we'll ever see another game quite like it, without a second Sandy - but it's an awesome finale. (Tl;dr edit of originally much longer post): Heroica was great, you guys are all great, and thanks for putting up with/helping me through some really rough patches of my life.
  6. "Yes, that was it."Watching the crowd of people swelling around the barbarian, Lind contemplated joining them, but eventually decided instead to return to his comfortable corner.
  7. Lind chuckled at the Wakorian's attempt to intimidate him."Quite true. Outside the Hall. Inside, we talk respectfully, even if we completely disagree with what the other person is saying. Son."
  8. Lind smiled."I wasn't asking."
  9. OoC: The Black Knight stood up, and gently laid a hand on the Wakorian's shoulder. His fingers did not press deeply, but they still felt as strong as if they had been gripping much, much harder."I don't really care what tone you use. But this is Heroica Hall. Whatever tone you use, you will use it to address other people with respect." He smiled, and looked into Addok-Zo's face. "We clear on that?" It was said as a command, not as a question.
  10. And that one Lind pic... Magic smoke?
  11. "Pleasure." Lind accepted the hand, but sensing the strange uneasiness Zanna was projecting, did not try to prolong the experience. "Swamp, maybe?"
  12. Lind mentally fiddled with that math for a moment...and decided it wasn't worth starting another argument. "I'm guessing he was just showing it around as an example..."
  13. "Whisperer. Lind Whisperer." "You tried to get him to sell it for a hundred and fifty..."Shaking his head, Lind walked across the room towards Siercon and Zanna. He held out a hand. "Lind Whisperer."
  14. The knight leaned against the bar. "It's not so often they come up for sale."He nodded at the board. "Mind sharing who it's reserved for? Unless that's private information, of course."
  15. I imagine enough people will come out of the woodwork before the 28th. But that would be interesting... I was of the same opinion. Then I actually tried making a page.Ten minutes of template-wrangling later, I suddenly saw why Sandy had offered so much "easy" money. I think some smaller prizes could definitely be a nice addition.
  16. Lind stood up, grunted, and walked across to the two arguing Heroes."Because this is Heroica Hall. You show courtesy because we're all heroes. You're welcome to disagree with someone completely, and you're welcome to admit it - but you use courtesy when you do it." "Just what I was thinking...Obsidian shards are pretty reasonably priced, too, but less useful."
  17. Several weeks after the passing of Immortalis, a tired - but surprisingly muscular - Munchkin walked down the street in front of the Hall. When he came to the door, he turned and paused, resting his hand on the frame. He had seen so many things since had first come here. "Star Lizards," master thieves, dragons...so many things, so many places. Tiredly raising himself, he stepped through the door, and seeing, thankfully, that there were no jobs listed, he found a corner near the Half Giant and Wakorian, and, propping a board up on the counter, he comfortably tilted the Angel Helmet down over his eyes.
  18. Thank you, Endgame. It's been an awesome journey - even just the small slice I was on.
  19. Two questions: Since the already existing examples of quest pages varied a lot in how they were structured, I tried to come up with a single, workable design. Did I succeed, or is there anything I should change? And, should Enemies and NPCs be organized alphabetically, or by when they appeared? Harvest Time has them listed alphabetically, but I can see arguments for the other way...
  20. Seeing the piece of paper drift down in front of him, Lind added his name and returned to his work.
  21. Nice! LindWhisperer. Translation: No posting one-word articles.
  22. The knight quietly nodded. It might not have been forgiveness - but it was an acceptance of his apology, and that was enough. Lind straightened up and nodded."I need to run errands for a day or two first*, but I'm in." He handed the Severa Slasher and the Mythril Mail back to Vindsval. "Thanks for the loan - they saved me from a knock-out once or twice." *OoC: So Lind's The End timeline doesn't get tangled.
