"Well, that's not the nicest of greetings, but I've heard worse." Lind shrugged, and grinned. "I feel the need to stack the odds in our favor." He began to take aim at the mosquito fairy with his Wind Spitter's Deck of Cards... ...then lowered them. "That'll be us." He squinted at the hooded man. "You look familiar...did we ever get into a fight? Although, for some reason, I feel like I remember you as having a lot more scales..."
-
"I'll take my chances." Lind nodded at the Founder. "Thanks for the gear!" He started to leave, but stopped, and tilted his head. "Say - ever heard of anyone looting a Founder before? That's got to be one for the books." He ducked into the cloud of smoke, and followed after Karie and the others. "How long do we have before this "somewhat" happens?" Are we on a timer? Other than that, no." Lind began to climb the steps to enter the portal, but stopped, and paused. "Pretzel - can I call you Pretzel? - Since you're the only one who can use it, with that fancy Fashionista trick of yours, I move you hang on to this Totem for the moment. Skrall, or Vind - one of you should maybe do the same with this Great Club? - since Skrall's the only beast warrior we have, and that tool of yours, Vind, looks like it can hold on to it. Vind might be better suited, though, since Skrall's got that wonderful Greatsword, and I think it's fair to say that nearly everyone we encounter is at least a little shorter - meaning Skrall's already doing almost as much damage as he could with the club. If anyone feels they need some spare remedies, just ask, else I'll keep keeping track of them." OoC: Lind hands out/returns any artifacts/consumables, then enters the portal.

OoC: Is this RP, or referring to the Mountain's being Quickened? I'm not trying to cut down on the number of times he's attacked, I just keep rolling HIDEs and DAMAGE - neither of which help us, and Black Knight's ability to deflect damage down below them on the battle order REALLY doesn't help us - and since Karie's one bad roll or so away from going down, I figured healing her was the best choice. To clarify Lind's actions(since I forgot to specify a second action): Lind heals Karie with a Grand Potion, then attacks with Gladius from the front row. "I've not been running away, I've been strategically retreating," the Black Knight bantered back.
-
"On it!" Lind attacks the Mountain from the front row with the Shadeaux Mace. If he rolls a DAMAGE roll, and if Karie has Hastened the party, he repeats. If Monk Pretzel has succeeded in Stunning the Mountain, (and Lind is Hastened), Lind attacks from the front row with Gladius. If Monk Pretzel has failed in in Stunning the Mountain, (and Lind is Hastened), Lind then attacks from the back row with Starbreaker. OoC: Kinto, could you put me early in the battle order? Barring a bad role, I'll instantly make him Fragile, maximizing everyone else's damage(I think that's how the effect would apply? I could be mistaken.).

Welcome back, Flare! Great to see more old players checking back!

"At least a dozen of them...and one of them's a lot more tall than I remember the Watch being..." He looked at Skrall and shrugged. "Maybe that mask would have made you blend in more than I thought..." He took up a defensive stance, alongside Vindsval. OoC: Sorry - the more I try and fix my post, the more tangled it gets.

Review: 5005358 Minifigure Factory
Lind Whisperer replied to mostlytechnic's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thanks for the review! Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I spy an error. That 2002 minifigure? As far as I know, none of the parts existed back then. I can't pull up Bricklink to double check, but that hair wouldn't come out until the Skater Boy(CMF Series 1), the torso is from more modern holidays sets, and although short legs were introduced with the Ewoks, I'm pretty sure blue wasn't one of the colors...again, could be wrong. (It's probably in there to mark said short legs - the SW license probably doesn't allow them to use the actual figures - but it would have been nice if the minifig was period accurate, like the rest...) Oh well. Still a nice set!- 20 replies

Lind also takes note of the royal insignia. "A lot of fine equipment you have around here," the Black Knight mused. He held out his hand. "Lind Whisperer." Should I mention our loose connections via the Union? No...better not to risk. No idea how she'd take it, and given everyone else's sentiments on the matter...best to be careful. The Black Knight surveyed the monk favorably. "Very true...there's always a price to be paid. And it's often so expensive as to make you wish you'd never made the deal in the first place..." "A religious figure. It varies from religion to religion, but it's typically the direct counterpart to a monopantheistic god - and very nearly always representative of evil. Fond of making bargains - which it always gets the better end of." "Transport - I believe, although Mrs. Alderflask could probably fill you in better." Having been filled in by Karie on the way, Lind had a vague idea of what was going on, but only barely. "Planar transport - we need to get across the dimensions to the Faerie. Bad things...bad things are happening." He looked around the room. Nearly everything's already crated up... OoC: I thought she was Mrs. Alderflask-Cour now? Also, I have a bad feeling about that highlighting of "basement laboratory in Xu"...

Thanks! It's great to be playing with you guys again.

"Will do." "That's the plan." "Good idea. You want to take it?" The Munchkin looked up at the tall Ogre and Half-Giant. "I'm not really sure if the Watch would overlook a human twice as tall as the usual - but if either of you would rather have it, you're welcome to it. Oh - and if anyone in the party could use my Ruby, or my Scroll of Frailty, ask and it's yours for the duration." The Black Knight nodded, and followed after Karie.

Question regarding the: Can the item be used on anyone in the party? Or just the seal-bearer?

"Great, there goes the last perk of working for Heroica..." He looked down at his arms. "I thought I was feeling wierdly mortal. Council of sailors, huh? Strange...I heard pretty recently that it had become a prison." "Thanks, but no thanks." "The Fey One." Lind slapped his face. "My bad, I should have caught that..." "Keep in mind...I was, as you say, blitzed out of my mind. Group of friends convinced me to have some drinks to celebrate my returning to Eubric...and then I made the mistake of re-classing while drunk. All of a sudden, the idea of putting on a ridiculous costume that looked nothing like my old self seemed like a brilliant idea if I was going to camouflage as an Assassin...and while I was at it, why not a flamboyant new name, as well? Don't ever re-class when you're drunk." He shook his head. "That's why I stick to water...and Falana, when I can get it." The knight frowned, opened his mouth...and then closed it again. "...You have my support. ...The Crescent Union was more than just a bunch of people vying to be king. We really wanted to fix this town - help these people. But...with its collapse, it looks like throwing in with you lot is the only way towards that goal." He saluted. "But until I see more proof of their corruption than rumors in a newspaper - I'm not going to throw the Shadeaux under the wagon. As houses went, they were decent people - this doesn't seem like them." Lind frowned. "I'll ally with you, Karie, but I'm not allying with the Wolfgang. And I'm sure as heck not going to support Ulric for king." Lind frowned even harder. "That kind of negotiation has never gone well historically. Ulric's just going to demand the crown, and he will not back down from that." "I'll do my part to keep your bargain...but I can't say I'm a huge fan." He nodded. "Let's roll." OoC: WBD, when you transfer Lind's stats over, could you have him equip the Shield of the Silent Knight (Shield, SP:8, attackers have a 50% chance of being Sealed), and be wearing his Crescent Seal (+2 Power, +1 Free item usage during the first round of battle)? (Also if you could correct his age, so he's...*thinks* two years older? (Man, it's been forever since I played...) that would be awesome.)

No idea if I'll be in the majority, or the minority, with this opinion, but I think the current system works fine. "Generic" as it may be, knowing someone actually put in the time to type out "Wow, I really like this!" means their opinion gives the builder a little more "value" for their effort. Also, it could just be that I'm hanging out in the wrong sub-forums, but I rarely see MOCs getting 10+ pages of compliments - usually they stall out at around five to ten replies. You could argue that that's even more reason to add a "like" feature, but as a builder, I personally prefer knowing that a few people liked my project enough to take the time to comment, not just tap an icon. EDIT: Yeah, wrong sub-forums - Star Wars/Trains get a huge number of responses. (Glancing over the rest of the site, though, my numbers seem roughly accurate).

Maybe, but his last visit was on Feb. 17. Unless he and WBD have something scheduled for later on, I fear we've seen the last of HEROICA's resident flamboyant sorcerer...

Lind regarded the dwarf stiffly. In the back of his mind, he still seemed to remember them being friends, but he could certainly have been wrong. "As I just said, they were all down in the sewers." He took a breath. You've changed, remember? You can handle this cheerfully. In a more conciliatory tone, he continued, "I've no idea how many of them there are down there. Hundreds, probably. No idea how widespread - I was hunting Phlegmen, not mapping out strange root systems. But the sections of tunnel they were sealing off were gigantic - completely blocked off from the rest of the sewer." He scanned the newspaper. "You got to be kidding me... All of the houses...all? Holy cow... The Founders have returned...well, that could be worse, I suppose... And that explains why the Town Watch is going crazy... Huh." He frowned. "Wait. If the Bonapartes have flounced off to the Crystal Sea, then who's running Fort Bonaparte?" He returned to scanning the pages. "Tiamateus's death...horrible, but no more honorable way for a hero to go out than...WAIT. We're heroes. We don't die...how is a VETERAN dying?!" "I'm an outcast...? ...Well, not so much new there...but this marks the first time I'm a bona fida criminal. Which founder is that? The article's listing several as missing... Tritech...good people. Never worked with them, but they were always close with the Ji Pei...my sort of people. Even if the Union is dissolved." He hoisted his shield. "I'm in." He rolled the note around in his hand. "Well, I can definitely get there, and there's no one I'd rather help...but I'd have to scamper pretty fast - or you all walk pretty slow - to make it there and then catch up with you all again at Tritech..." He frowned, as if something very important had struck him, and he scanned any of the heroes that had come downstairs. "And if Fort Bonaparte's tied up in this in any way, there may be good reason for me to come with you all, beyond just the obvious... Especially if I'm the only Crescent Unioner here..." OoC: EDIT: *scrolls up and re-reads WBD's post* Change that to I'd have to go at the speed of light to make it there and back, if (Tritech) is only a block away. Lind's lack of geography strikes once again...while a test of his senses of duty - and maturity - is imminent. Look out for the best interests of the Houses he's tried to loyally serve...or aid a friend(one of his only!) in need...

"Greetings to you as well. Recent happenings?" He cocked an eyebrow. "I'm afraid I'm completely in the dark - fill me in? Oh, but I do know one thing - there's an arbormage strike going on, right? 'Cause I kept having to find alternate paths around all the root bunches. Huge, white roots, completely blocking off whole sections of the tunnels. Never seen anything like them before. (And when you spend your whole childhood in a cave, you get to see a lot of different roots.) Freakin' arbormages - don't they realize their strikes affect more than the Ziegfried flower beds?" He shook his head. "I came back two weeks ago - spent a year or so abroad focusing on "self-improving" - but when I peeked into the Hall, the Board was blanker than I've ever seen it. So, I went off and I've been doing a little free-lancing, hunting Phlegmen alone down in the sewers. Thanks for your thoughtful gift, by the way." He hefted the Shield of the Silent Knight. "Got jumped by one of their sorcerers and a few of his cronies - but his getting sealed kind of spoiled any plans they might have had. Finally came back up, only to get shaken down for not having a permit. Since when...oh, never mind. Slipped in here to dodge that Watchman, in case he came back around. Complete accident running into you all again - but I'm glad it happened." He smiled - then frowned. "Say - these recent happenings - they wouldn't have anything to do with Fort Bonaparte, would they?"
