  1. Waited in line of 15 to get set when store opened (USA). Purchase limit of 2 per customer. They said they had enough to cover all of us in line, so that is at least 30 sets in store.
  2. If you want a good deal, Target has it for 42.99 online. Just do in store pickup. It's still 69.99 in store. Just an FYI.
  3. He needs a Detroit Tigers hat to complete the Magnum PI look.Good work!
  4. I use only Duracell with no problems. I have 5 battery boxes. I recently switched to Eneloop. I thought the problem was described as too small hole for the positive connector. I just compared an Energizer, Duracell, and Eneloop. Energizer has the largest positive connector. Large as in fat/wide and would have the problem fitting through the connector hole. I think it's more likely a bad batch or manufacturing error.
  5. Catching up get: Horizon express 10233 immediately just discontinued and $ rising Emerald night 10194 Maersk 10219 Maybe Sante Fe 10020 but super $$$ Current offerings: New Creator this year fingers crossed save money and buy 2 Buy track on ebay/bricklink straight track is always in need Blue cargo out now is nice entry train with track and PF included Always buy the current station offering even if you don't like it, that goes for all accessories train-wise Welcome to trains! The more people buying them hopefully the more offerings we will see from Lego.
  6. Repair it from the inside. Take a box of similar size, preferably a modern day lego box and cut the side flap off including the hinge and some extra part of the box where the side flap attaches. I'd make the extra you are going to use to attach it to the box, at least the same size of the box side flap you are fixing. Glue/tape that extra piece inside the box and then adhere the broken flap you have to the fully functional replacement. Like the previous poster mentioned, tape really isn't permanent and discolors. If you use glue, I'd go with something that wouldn't soak through and ruin the box on the outside, so something thick like normal white paper glue. Some basic cardboard conservation videos I found. I think merely reattaching your flap/hinge will eventually fail if you plan on using it. You could permanently glue it and then open the other side. Best to just replace the hinge if you want it to be functional. Research board game box repair and or Lionel Train box repair. http://cs.trains.com/ctt/f/95/t/215918.aspx "I use archival quality self-adhesive linen hinging tape. Its main use is hinging window mats to mounting mat as well as hinging prints and posters. It is also used for reinforcing folders, books and envelopes. It is perfect for reinforcing hinges and/or re-attaching flaps." http://thebiggamehun...epairing-games/ http://www.thegamesj...ringBoxes.shtml http://www.randystoy....com/boxres.htm
  7. I'd buy another sticker sheet while cheap on ebay/bricklink to be saved for your son's children or as an adult he wants to refresh the look with fresh stickers. Just zip-lock bag em' with a note for next generation and keep with the instruction manuals.
  8. A slightly passive aggressive PM to my earlier post. Quick google search would reveal "Talk me off the cliff" to be a Hyperbole! No surprise membership and participation in the train forum isn't higher with moderators of that caliber. What if I was a young kid trying to learn about Lego trains? That message would be really discouraging. That is not the way to share and enjoy your hobby. I will be simply reading here, and not contributing. Hi Heacy2600, remember you are in an adult forum, you might take that into consideration when posting things like you just did, I mean, I don't know what jumping from a cliff has to do a LEGO train. I fixed your title, typo's can occur and if I see typo's I always fix them, but right now I'm preparing for a LEGO show and so this message to you (that was in my eyes not really necessary) will make my train town less beautiful. So, moral of the story: next time, think first before you type something.
  9. No worries Redimus! Majority agreed prior to Rainman Dr_Spock's post! I'm amaized by the ingenuity of lego train builders! Precisely why I've lost interest in regular model trains. Dr_Spock awesome train! That tunnel is spectacular! Did a double take if the whole thing was real.
  10. Can a moderator fix title typos? Sorry posted from a phone. I can't mod title. @Garethjellis I was afraid of that!
  11. I've got two, but after a lego and model train show they look better longer. Do I need a third set before they are gone? Talk me off the cliff, Or yell jump!
  12. New to trains, so I have to take what I can get, affordability wise. I like the 2014 trains, with the exception of the passenger train. I'd much rather spring for a HE.
  13. Very cool and great playability!
  14. Looks Great! Reminds me of my old Lionel Santa Fe flatcars from the 50's.
  15. I like all the trains and the excitement of waiting to see what's next. Although new to Lego trains, it seems to me that waiting for the next release will be my Christmas Eve for many years to come. I hope it's something new we haven't seen, and something we least expect. Whether we like it or not, new and different is always fun.
  16. Someone mentioned earlier having a track layout nailed/screwed to a board that folds down from the wall like an old ironing board. I very much like this idea as when in the upward position the backside could have a hook for a dartboard and the layout would protect the wall. The whole thing (bottom) could be painted to match the wall color. What if the bottom had a stetched canvas painting or poster as to camouflage the board. Of course your train and any city structures would be removed when put away. I like the idea though.
  17. Thanks BrickBuff! I'll check it out!
  18. Hello Eurobricks! I've been lingering for a few months, just reading/learning. I have a young child and have commenced buying him everything Lego I ever wanted. His train collection being the focus of attention. To be honest, he doesn't even get his first Lego train until this Christmas, although we have a small Duplo. All I can do is read here and enjoy late night basement builds before returning them to the box. I had maersk on an online wishlist for years. Seeing crazy prices I broke down and aquired all desired models for future gifting to my son. Thanks for all the info, posts, reviews, pictures, all of which take time and passion. It's this forum which will hold me over for several years as my son gradually acquires his collection. He is a train finatic and I absolutely can't wait!
  19. One can't ignore the Thomas and Chuggington following. I imagine this cut deeply into the Lego and model train market. Everyone I know has a kid with Thomas wood toys. They are not cheap. $10-20 a car. Full ready to go set is $100-200. As a parent I can say literally everyone with kids1-4 has either Thomas or cheapo bootleg copy. I think the train following is as big as ever, just that the market shifted younger and Lego Duplo isn't as big as Thomas and Chuggington. Modern media is the format pushing products. Lego movie needs to be Lego TV. 6-12 yr olds end up on video games instead of toys. Sorry for frequent posts, I can't edit yet.
  20. Thanks JopieK! I just wanted an idea of what one considers missing from the lego line. I will put together an intro post. Tks again!
  21. What do you guys mean by "side structures"? It looks like lego has continued to release small stations and platforms. There is a station available right now. I'm new and confused.
