Settlement Name: Interlagos Ownership: Eslandola Location: Maldria Mayor: Pip Janszen - @Capt Wolf Size: Town Who can own property in Interlagos: Anyone, from any faction. Who can freebuild in Interlagos: Anyone, from any faction. Fortifications: One large fort. Troops: As of Nov. 2, 619, there are 30 men stationed here, all part of Janszen's expedition. Island description: One of the largest islands discovered by Madrician explorers so far, the northern coast of this island has a more temperate climate likely influenced by weather of the great northern sea. The mountain range that forms an east-west spine along the island contains the highest mountains yet seen in the new world, the peaks of which are covered in an almost permanent mist. This range shelters the southern portion of the island from the moderating effects of the northern winds and a more tropical climate prevails here. Several native tribes inhabit the island, and their relations with each other shift periodically, like rival siblings. They have been quick to trade with the new settlers, but the natives are protective of their lands. More about the native tribes of Maldria can be found here. Rumors: It is rumored that an ancient civilization once worked numerous rich gold mines on this island and that these mines could be reactivated with minimal effort. The peaks of the mountains in the central part of the island are said to be covered in snow where unusual creatures live such as a "snow jaguar." Please post a link to any free-builds that take place in Interlagos in this thread. Island map: Location of Interlagos: Properties: - Fort Janszen (large fort) - Brickmaker (medium factory) - Blacksmith (medium artisan) - Sawmill (medium factory) - Mess hall / tavern (medium artisan) - Warehouses (medium commerce) - Two houses (medium residence) - Church (small art & culture)

[ESL A-MRCA] Expedition to the New Haven Sea
Capt Wolf replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
And with much effort by everyone in the expedition, ship crews and troops alike, trees were felled and earthworks were created until a proper fort was constructed. Janszen and Calvo discussed what would come next... "You are to be commended, Captain," said Calvo. "You have worked wonders getting the men to pull together on such a hard endeavor. Fort Janszen is quite an accomplishment." "Fort ... Janszen?" stuttered Pip. "Don't look surprised," replied Calvo. You've earned this. Besides, it's what the men started calling it. There's no changing that now." Pip sighed, resigned to the name. "Well, hopefully nobody will remember the name of the fort once the settlement is thriving. I shall call it 'Interlagos' -- due to its position near these lakes -- in my report. But names are unimportant. Now that construction of the fort is complete, you need to proceed with exploration of the interior." "Absolutely! I have my team picked out. And the perimeter patrols we've sent out have already learned a lot about the local animal life and vegetation. The area around these lakes is a fantastic ecosystem. The river appears navigable for some distance, so i will set out by boat."- 49 replies

After months of exploring islands in the New Haven Sea, Eslandola’s expedition finally set foot on the island of Maldria. Initial exploration had identified a prime location for a settlement on the north side of the island, and preparations for a base for further exploration of the island were begun. Now, after much hard work by the ship crews and troops that made up the human capital of the expedition, a permanent base was established. Even though the fort was done, work crews continued on other tasks, as a dock and other infrastructure was needed for the new settlement. Ship gun crews and troop leaders worked to make sure the fort’s armament was ready. Outside the fort, musketeers patrolled the perimeter, as the island was still a great unknown. Inside the fort, expedition leader Philip “Pip” Janszen discussed matters with somewhat-renowned explorer Thaddeus Calvo. Pip’s protestations aside, Calvo informed Pip that the men had already named the fort after their expedition leader. It was Fort Janszen. He was stuck with it. ---------------------- This is a part of my ongoing AMRCA exploring the New Haven Sea, but I’ve posted it separately for licensing purposes. All C&C welcome.

Another beautiful build. I'm really enjoying your style!

OK, just to make sure I have everything in order before judging starts, I count 10 entries, but I have questions about the category for some of them (see below): Bodi - Weelond street scene during Oktonber feast - Structure (small residence) Ross Fisher - Festival Privvies - Structure (small … culture? commerce) @Professor Thaum - Barbaric longship! - Structure? Story (small commerce/artisan) @Maxim I - Beer Tasting - Do you want this entered as a Structure or an Event? (small education) dr_spock - Keg toss contest - Event The Sarge - Beer Garden - Story Darnok - Throwing a … ball? - Event A_Goodman - Orellana's Townhouse - Structure (large residence) Faladrin - The Seahorse Inn and Round Barrel Tavern - Structure (large commerce/artisan) @Roadmonkeytj- BruHaHa was there! - Event/Story (which category do you prefer?) (and I think the kiosk portion of the build would qualify as a small artisan) As soon as I have answers to the category questions, I'll get judging underway. Let me know when a property has been licensed so you can receive you reimbursement for license costs, or if you'd prefer to sell licensing rights to Weelond at 3x the license cost. Thanks to everyone who entered for the fun MOCs!

The messenger, having delivered the orders from the Eslandolan Admiralty to Captain Florissone, headed back to the Salida Este harbor when he came upon a couple of sailors outside a small bungalow. Apparently local sailors used it as a flophouse to stay at when they were between voyages at sea. “Hey, kid!” called out one of them, “any news you can share with us?” “Captain Florissone just got assigned to the new warship.” “That does us no good,” muttered the sailor. “We’re not interested in a navy ship…” “…and they’re probably not interested in a couple of slackers like us, either!” added the other sailor. “What we need is to find us a good merchant ship that can make some coin.” “Well,” said the kid “they’re also bringing the Lady’s Revenge II out of drydock. I heard them saying somethin’ about needing to replace the Lady of Madrice.” “Now there ya go! They’ll be hiring crew for sure. Come on, it’s down to the docks for us!” --- A sistershipping build. Thanks to @Maxim I for the story lead-in. All C&C welcome.

Actually, that's a nice way to do that sort of architectural ornament. There's a name for it that escapes me at the moment. It's a nice touch.- 15 replies

I love how the pineapple-as-soccer-ball motif has developed a life of its own! Fun scene, and very in-step with the WTC reputation.

[W-OKT] Weelond street scene during Oktober feast
Capt Wolf replied to Bodi's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Nice architectural flair for the building. And that does look like a rowdy group, making off with a whole turkey! A very good Okterberfest entry! -
I'd certainly support this. I'll also call @Captain Genaro and @Professor Thaum's attention to it.
-
Wow! Just incredible -- scenes and ships. Fantastic job. And I figured you were going to tell this story eventually; it was worth the wait! Are the sails made of paper? I can't tell.

Word skittered through Fuerte Unido that an adventure opportunity was on hand. Willem Guilder, director of the Merchants Colonial Trading Company, had been meeting with two ship captains that had reportedly returned from the New Haven Sea. Now the call had gone out for volunteers to join the MCTC militia as an expedition was forming. Militias tend to get a bad reputation for being of lesser quality than faction troops. As fighting men, the Eslandian militias can stand with anyone. But, if you're looking for rows of men in gleaming green uniforms marching in unison through the town square, then you've come to the wrong place. The men that assembled on the quay, ready to embark on adventure, were an unorganized assortment. Some were experienced veterans, others were new recruits; some wore helmets, others wore hats; some had full gear, some had barely a musket; some focused on the task at hand, while others were more concerned with the lovely ladies of Fuerte Unido. Sergeant de la Rosa was amazed that one of his new recruits didn't fall backwards into the bay! But he finally got their attention and somewhat organized. He would have his work cut out for him. when they reached their destination. A couple more views of the scene: -------------- OOC: A small (and quick) build for the purpose of raising a company of troops in Fuerte Unido, destined for a new settlement in the New Haven Sea. All C&C welcome.
