I agree ! I was just reading about TEE. It was a dream train when I was a kid. But TEE is not a single train. It's just stands for Trans Europe Express. If coachs remain most about the same (during 70's), a lot of different locomotives pull the TTE. Each country have it's own locomotive for TEE. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trans_Europ_Express or Google image for TEE train.

Far far ago, I got an HO train. It was using endless screw to bring power from central engine to each bogies. On the down side, it needs much more gears in the bogie. I dont know if such a system can be used with Lego.

You have to buy 7499 with those *useless* flex track. In Europe, Amazon have great price for track as low as 13.xx € vs 17.99 € from S@H.

Here is my train list : 60051: High-Speed Passenger Train (First) 60051: High-Speed Passenger Train (Second, I love it) 3677: Red Cargo Train 66405: City Trains Super Pack 4-in-1 (Yellow Cargo Train) 10233: Horizon Express The same with gifs :

Same for Belgium, no more Horizon Express at S@H. It's still wildly aviable for (online) stores.

Thank you Steph 104th ! I change my layout from this with standard spacing : To this one with track spacing reduced from 8 stud to 4 stud : It just works fine. I got any issue with my two trains running.
-
Hey BrickBuff, I see you great layout. I plan to stay on a single level for now. Perhaps later, I will do some major change but firt goal is to create my city with Creator house and some modulars. WTB, I have a question about track spacing. Is it safe to use 4 stunds between tracks ? Going from 8 to 4 stunds allow more space Inside the inner track. I do some tries, without any issue but I need some feedback. :)

Hello, @ zephyr1934: Here's a close-up picture of the source of noise on my bridge. The arrows illustrate the shoulders resulting in a difference of inclination between the ramp and the horizontal bridge. The bumps are not very high but with 2 off them on each rail on each side of the bridge, it's really annoying. The only way to solve this looks like removing a small part on each track with sandpaper... @ fred67 : thanks ! :) @ Legononymous : I don't any app or software able to do it. I like to spend some time to draw layouts. BlueBricks tells how many of each part you need for a layout but did not create any layout by itself.

Hey, Very nice track with nice german homes and constructions. Few years ago, I travel a lot in Germany, your train table looks so real.

I find it ! http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=488316 Glad to know that my layouts help. Your pictures will also help me to set the city. :)

Here is some picts to show WIP. I have removed the bridge due to some noise problem. The small angle between tracks where slope ends at bridge side creates two little bumps and it's very noisy when train run over it. I will post a pict to explain it better.

Hello, I'm working on my bridge. It will not be very high. I choose a light slope : 2 plates per track. Pylons have an articulation to fit the track angle.

Thanks for advices. Today, stations has arrived ! I will place them side to side to have a larger one.

Hi there ! Yep Scheemdalegotrain, the main street will be in from left to right in the inner. On the right side, it will be the cargo area. I need some more advices about my track layout. Here is the one I was planning first (current one is temporary) but the station platform are a bit too shorts. So I have to place the switch more on the right. I also prefer to have a straigh part before the first station switch (bottom left). A straight track is far better than a curve for the reversing loop. It allow to place a lot of switchs for additionnal parcking tracks. There will be a bridge on the red rectangle location but it's not very important for now. I draw a few different ways to solve the *issue*. On the followings, the satation area and the lefet part of the layout is perfect for me. Only the right inner track changes. Witch one is the best according to you ? I think last one is not good because tracks are too close. First is nice but some space is wasted between inner and outer tracks. Third is laso fine even if the reversing track is not straigh. Perhaps some flex tracks can help to straighten but I prefer avoid them.

It was not easy to take picture today. But here is my track with the *ICE* waiting for the future passanger station. On this side, it will be the cargo area.

Hello ! Later than expected, here is my brand new lego train table. It's 5000 mm long and 1350 mm depth. I plan to build this track on friday. I will post picture tomorrow.

Hi there. I got good news : I sign in. The less good news is about time. The carpenter can only comes during septembre for the whole stuff. But he tells me he will try to come before just for train table and one special console (to hide a blade radiator).
-
True Xris, Lucky me! The project progresses. The carpenter who have to do other works has gone for a cost estimate. This is quite acceptable and the budget for the train table does not weigh heavily in the deal (less than 10%). I will get the final price this weekend but it is sure that it is already accepted! So I'll have a table of 5000 x 1300 mm for my Lego trains. No more compact circuit, but a big track! BTW, I just buy the red cargo train. PS : Xris : I will follow your project. Did you already have some idea?

Welcome Adolfo and congratulations for your wonderful station !

Thanks for sharing. This is really a pleasure to read Railbricks. I just downloaded all of them today.

Hey, here is some news ! I will go for track 6 on the ground this week end and keep ot for some weeks. I will post pictures soon. Xris : For now, I will only run short trains (as short as vanilla from Lego Box) and it will be enough. But read the following ! I phone my carpenter (not sure it's the good word) to setup a MDF table over current cabinet and console (all are same high about 760 mm). I will pull them from wall for 800 mm and set fixation on wall. This will allow to place 2 pannel 2500 x 1250 mm so 5000 x 1250 track space. And my wife can still have easy to her storage. I will place acoustc foam layer under the MDF. BOM is about 120 € for 2 18mm MDF panel old oak finition (to suit the room color) and some parts for structure. Edit : First pict ! Sorry, only have my iPad to take it...
-
I agree. I also like 5 a lot. I can save some space by placing the park track into the reversing loop. I hope I will have time to try some setups this week end.

Waouw, very nice build. Impressive size and really great design.

Here is the first updates I made to take care about platform and overhang. Big dark rectangle is clearance for 60050 station (a future set). Smaller area are for 7937 platforms. Layout 5 Advantage : 3 decent platforms, can have a big station, funny inner track Down side : shortest inner track, wasted space in down left corner Layout 6 Advantage : 3 long platforms, can have a big station, longer inner Down side : looks a bit simple and *symmetric*, use flex track I read the RailBricks 9 and I know fully understand how crossing can be used a more clever and space saver way. Layout 7 Advantage : decent platform, funny inner track, nice area for city and creator buildings, longest inner track Down side : only 3 tracks wide station Now, I just have to make up my mind and choose one layout. Currently, last one is my favorite.
-
True I forget about overhang and platform ! Thank you to point it out. I'am going to work again and again. @ zephyr1934 : I will read this book.
