Actaeon turns his head to look at the man. "I am indeed new." He pauses, "I noticed that you signed on to stop Alfendi Lupine. Do you know anything about him?"
-
Alright, I'll give these a read too. Thanks for the detailed reply! 58 has joined the list Thanks, this link will be very useful! Thanks everyone for all the input!

I'm looking for a quest that is a good example of a "typical" quest so that I can see what they are like (in every aspect, pretty much) and how they flow. Good dialogue would also be really good.

Quest 34. Alright, I'll give it a look. Anyone else have any others?
-
I just want to know all my options before I go into a quest. Thanks for the input! Just to make sure I really understand this whole process, I want to read some of the previous quests that have been completed. Does anyone have a recommendation as to which quests I should read?
-
Alright, I think I get it. Well, I'm sticking with human anyhow, so I'm not sure why I even asked

Sorry for yet another question (I feel as though I am bombarding this thread with them). I noticed that this member has two people in his picture for Heroica. Are we permitted to have an NPC as a side character/companion? That makes a lot of since. The origin of an Uruk-Hai makes it difficult to fit into the Heroica world, whereas the Sergal can be explained as a creature that is rare but still lives there. Is that about right?

That's a great way to think of it. Plan out how the character "ticks" so to speak, but don't plan events or anything. Just take things as they come. I will definitely keep that in mind. On the rules I remember reading that your character could be any race, even if you made it up. Does that apply to races that are from other works of fiction?

Actaeon smiles as he sees the new quest posted by the board. Finally, he thinks, the time has come. Actaeon signs up for quest #103

The only reason I would have one in the first place would be to reveal parts of my character that would otherwise remain hidden. I think if you have that purpose in mind, then an NPC would work. If you just feel like your character needs a relationship, then yes, I think an actual player would seem much more authentic.
-
Good to know. Interesting. The second biggest reason I will likely avoid a relationship in game is because I'm not too good at writing them
-
And thank you for the comment
-
It was so intriguing though, it didn't need dialogue!
-
You don't have to look too hard either
-
Okay, that's good to know. It would be my own NPC. I doubt I would ever actually introduce her to the current story ever, at least not until I do a quest of my own (which will be a while).
-
Yet another reason it is less weird. What about people with a "significant other" that is an NPC??
-
Oh wow. That's longer than I expected! Still, that means the game is open for long term. That's good I also just looked at the first quest to be done. It made me even more exited to get started on a quest I suppose if both players have a decent amount of Roleplaying experience, it wouldn't be as bad.
-
That's fine with me. It seems a bit... weird or even awkward.

Wow! That's crazy! If you get a second character, are they allowed to go on the same quest with your main character? I didn't even think of half of the stuff in there. It gave me a ton ideas. It also turns out, I didn't have too many cliche plans for my character. Admittedly, I did have some that will have to be scratched. I also learned that characters can have relationships between each other. I think that my character will interact with people and have relationships in that way, but I will more than likely avoid any relationships beyond that. I might have 1 or 2 in the back story, but that will probably be it. Oh wow. I need to go through and re-read all the elements and artifacts. I scanned over them the first time, but that probably isn't enough.
-
Thanks! I just read through the whole theater intro, and I must say, it was a lot more helpful than I expected it to be! So many fresh ideas.
-
Right? My friend hated it! Every time I asked why, he just said "Eeeeevaaaa". That is a pretty bad reason to dislike an awesome move!
-
After reading a good portion of the theater intro, I think I'm keeping him. I figure as I level up and buy armor or other things, I will end up changing the figure up some anyhow. I don't even know how I got to Actaeon being a "pun type of guy". I think originally I was going to make him a serious bad-A, but then I though "heck, my characters are always overly serious, I'll change it up at least a little" Dang! How long have you been in the game? How many quests is that? Do you think you'll end up making a second character?
-
Thanks for the input. I don't think I'll scrap him. Honestly, I love the way he acts right now. Quiet for the most part, but adds in a ridiculous pun occasionally. I think I'll visit the "theater" thread before I decide to change the parts or not.

No one has reached 50 yet? I've noticed a few in the high 30s, is that the highest? I considered using a troll for my character, but I wasn't sure if that was allowed! I might change my character up since I am yet to actually use him. He seems rather generic as of now; simple but stealthy ranger.
