  1. My fiance is addicted to cats. She loves cats. Cat pajamas, cat socks, cat gloves, cat jacket, cat hat, cat necklace, cat shower curtain. Cats cats cats. She loves her cats. She will wear anything that has a cat on it. Cats cats cats. So when I took her on our weekly outing to the Westfarms Lego store and showed her the Pet Shop modular, she became so excited about the cat in it (which is why I wish Lego would put a cat in every single new release, that way I can convince her that it is a necessity). Anyway, my question is: Seeing how this set was first released in 2011, it seems like it's due for a retirement soon. How long do modulars normally stay out for before being retired? I want to get this for her for Christmas, but my Lego budget will not permit me for another two weeks. I know it probably won't be going anywhere two weeks from now, but in the event I am unable to purchase it in time for Christmas, does anyone think the Brick Bank will be replacing the Pet Shop on the shelves? Is there an average retirement time for modulars? Thanks much! :)
  2. I envy you! My fiancé won't let me spend nearly what I used to anymore, she can't justify large Lego expenses as "necessary" :(. Women are from another planet, I'm tellin' ya...
  3. Just stopped by the Westfarms Lego store and scooped up the Garbage Truck (60118). I love it as is; I heard some people weren't satisfied with it though. The dumpster could be one brick taller, but nothing I can't mod on my own with a couple bricks :) Stacking up those VIP points for January's Brick Bank release, I have $65 in rewards so far! The look I get from the workers when they see my balance is something along the lines of... :oh3: :oh3:
  4. Is there a release date on the fire station?
  5. I have no idea how to edit the thread name, should read "POLICE", not "POLIE" ;) Hello Eurobricks community! Last I checked in I posted a preview of a MOC police station I was working on nearly a year ago. It wasn't working out the way I had hoped so I scrapped the entire project. The main issue being space; I have very little room to display my creations until I have my very own house beginning later on next year. Anyway, this project started out of being dissatisfied with all versions of Lego's Mobile Command Centers / Surveillance Trucks. They were all too small and not very functional for surveillance or command purposes. So I scrapped my 7288 set and began construction on a more functional version of it. Additionally, I was never satisfied with any of Lego's patrol cars either. Last I posted about a year ago, I had designed a patrol car but I still wasn't completely satisfied with it. So I modified it a bit more, and pictured at some point below is the finalized version that I am very happy with. Here we go! Side view: Yes, the compartments on the bottom are fully functional as storage compartments, something that official Lego models were lacking. The fence/barrier element on the left can be detatched and set up as a road barrier. There is another barrier on the other side as well. Side view with ramp down and door open: Back view with doors open. Six radios and six pair of handcuffs are attached to 1x1 modified plate with claw. I wish I took an overhead picture showing it from the top. Top view. Two air conditioning/air purification units on top with a satellite dish and fully functional roof-access hatch. The roof needs some more antennae. Roof view with the access hatch opened: Roof completely off, showing officers at work at their stations: Other side of work stations: Driver's seat: Side view again with road barriers detatched and officers standing alongside: Overhead view of entire police fleet thus far: Main view of patrol car: Side view of patrol car: Rear view: Front view: Eventually, these vehicles will all belong to a fully functional Lego police station, again, once space allows later on next year. Overall, I am very happy with how my mobile command center turned out. The only part I'm not totally satisfied with is the front bumper. I may end up replacing the entire part with one of those fence elements from the Star Wars Final Duel II sets. Other than that, I like the boxy look the truck has. I didn't want it looking too "futuristic" with slopes and curves all over the place. Other than that, the only other section I would consider improving would be the interior detailing. It's tough to add much detail to such a small area, but we'll see what I can come up with. Either way, I'm happy with it. I'm pretty happy with the patrol cars as well, I don't think there's anything much I would change on them either. I have plans on building one or two undercover, unmarked patrol cars - same exact design, just black and dark gray in color without a light/siren bar on top. Let me know what you think, and thanks for looking! :)
  6. Been very busy with non Lego related things but finally got around to taking some pictures of the finalized version of my Interceptor. I am very happy with this final design, hope you all like it! Plenty has happened to the police station update wise but I have not yet taken pictures of it. Possibly by this weekend I'll have it updated. (First post hasthe updated pictures)
  7. I went to the Westfarms store in CT and asked a fellow working there what determines what bricks get put out, and how often they get new bricks to put out. He said it seems like they change out the bins weekly and it happens whenever one bin empties out. They have no specific criteria or uniform policy they have to follow, apparently they have all sorts of different types of bricks in back and they just choose at random what to put out. I asked specifically if they have any 1x1x2/3 white slopes in back, as I could use a ton of those for my city-in-progress. He said he'll check next week when he changes out bins, so we'll see what they have Saturday when I stop by again. When I went there two days ago I did manage to pick up half a large cup of 2x2 tan and red tiles. The time before that I got half a cup of 2x2 light gray tiles... I was hoping to get more this time but looks like they ran out.
  8. Agreed 100%. I think you just helped me determine what was lacking. I think instead of getting new wheels I'll just use the same wheels, and use the short instead of wide wheel holder pieces. I'll have to raise everything up by 1/3 to make it all line up. Finalized version update coming soon.
  9. Finalized version updated!
  10. A few months ago I posted a Western-themed MOC, which I had to put on hold shortly thereafter due to family emergencies which have since been resolved. During that time I became inspired to forego my Western style MOC and move toward something a little more modern. My ultimate goal is to build a complete Lego city, but for the time being I started with a couple police Interceptors (with a sneak peek at the police station at the end). I like the "sleek" design the Interceptors have, but something seems missing from it; can't quite put my finger on exactly what it is. The police station has a fairly basic outside design, which I like. The inside has plenty of detail currently in the works. The room closest to the camera is the "reception" area, far left room is an office, and far right room is booking/jail. I may or may not build a full second floor on top of this, since my plate inventory is running very low. We'll see how it goes. As soon as I finalize this Interceptor design I plan on building several more along with a few undercover Interceptors. I have a police force of 38 officers... hopefully I'll find a job for all of them without making my city look like a police state. UPDATE WITH FINALIZED VERSION!
  11. This is my first partial MOC in about ten+ years. Fort Legoredo and the Wild West series were my favorite set/theme growing up, and still is to this day. I took out my entire collection a month ago and sorted through it, pulling all the "fort" pieces and setting them aside. While the actual fort itself is still heavily under construction (still waiting on another order from Bricklink before I start posting pictures of it. I have two buildings built so far, the general store is nearly finished, and the bank, pictured here, is 99% complete (still missing some small details in the teller area and roof details). I took these pictures with my phone, and am still working on a way to get better close-ups of the inside... (smaller camera, perhaps). Anyway, ignore the stuffed dog in the first picture, and all the "construction debris"...everything is still under heavy construction. Front: Front door with cavalry standing guard and bank-goers walking in: Inside with the roof taken off. The structure on the wall to the left are to be safe deposit boxes. Still missing a few pieces to complete them: Teller area. This is an area lacking detail which should be completed once my Bricklink order arrives: Another view of the main area, looking out: And a sneak peek of the general store, located right across the street. Ignore the fort walls in the back, those areas are not nearly complete yet: All types of criticism are welcome and appreciated, especially since this is my first MOC in a decade. The plan is to expand this once I have more appropriate color baseplates. I'm estimating another 3-4 buildings of this size, plus a larger headquarters building and plenty of outdoor areas...with a fort wall surrounding everything. Thanks for looking!
  12. I just finished sorting through my collection. I wouldn't say I'm "done", I still have tons of small unique parts that I have no room for right now. I have an Akro Mils drawer cabinet (as shown by the OP), but nothing is labeled yet. I also ran into the problem where the pieces I thought would fit in the Akro Mils cabinet turned out to not nearly fit. So I had to upgrade to Sterilite drawers for those pieces. For my bulk brick I also used Sterilite drawers - the larger bin type drawers. I'll post pics if I remember later today. I have my bulk brick sorted by color only right now, I would love to sort by size as well but as everything is in my under-sized bedroom at the moment, I have very limited space. I'm also currently working on my first MOC since childhood so now I have that taking up even more of my floor space. Original western style theme... stay tuned ;)
  13. Hello, my name is BrickAddict90 and I am a Lego addict. At one point I was in a state of nearly full recovery when I experienced a full relapse just a few weeks ago. Now I've been madly sorting through my endless collection attempting to sort everything into some semblance of "organization". I've had Lego since I was around age 5. 18 years later, here I am sorting through my vast collection. Favorite themes: Star Wars, City, Western. Glad to be here!
