I do remember that for a brief period the BaM bin at the Dreamworld LEGO store was open under the same terms as the PaB wall. But I think what happened is that it was too hard to enforce the rules for gloves etc (especially when you have lots of little kids messing with the parts) and they decided to close it again rather than take the risks of having all those un-gloved dirty hands touching it.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
jonwil replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The license held by whoever makes the LOTR tabletop game (with the figures) prevented LEGO from doing LOTR battle packs and figures in the past and I don't see any reason why that would have changed. So you can forget about a LOTR CMF series or anything else that makes LOTR figures easier to army build. -
Still nothing on the new dog, dog astronaut torso or other such parts anywhere here in QLD (the BaM bins are still totally closed, not sure why its OK to have PaB open with specific requirements for sanitizing and gloves and etc but BaM is not...)

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 21. Rumors and discussion

My mistake, I was thinking of the S8 figure, forgot what it was called :) Only place I have seen S21 so far in Australia is the LEGO stores. (where I got mine :) -

I would love to see such a ferry (we have them here in Brisbane too) as a set. Although if we were to get any public transport set, I would put a bendy bus as my most wanted. -
Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
jonwil replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
The high Australian shipping cost is the main thing keeping me from doing more B&P orders. Hopefully the good bits become available soon so I can jump on and place an order :) Although I am not going to hold my breath that the really good bits on my wish list become available to buy (I have a use for the dark red 1 x 4 x 6 door with 4 panes but there is no way I could buy the multiple Diagon Alley sets needed to get those doors, there are none for sale on Bricklink in Australia and ordering from overseas Bricklink isn't an option for reasons I wont go into here) -
They may have a good relationship with Disney and WB and stuff and that will certainly make it easier to get a license but that doesn't mean its going to be simple every time (especially if there might be other rights involved, existing toy license holders etc)

IMO https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=15210pb020 is the best bus stop sign they have done and it would work good with the new roads no problems (the same as e.g. the street lights or the pedestrian crossing sign or traffic lights or whatever) -
Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces

It looks like the site has changed a bit, many of the parts on my wish list (such as the Mario warp pipe) now show "no results". Presumably they have changed how they return results for licensed parts. Still quite a few of the parts I have been waiting for (1 x 4 x 6 door with 4 panes in dark red/dark green/bright light yellow from Diagon Alley, short sleeve police torso from the Main Square set, yellow tram nose from the same set and some others that I wouldn't have thought would be licensed or restricted) that aren't available ("out of stock" with 0 for price). I suspect at this point they will probably never be available (although it would be good if they did become available) A few parts I didn't expect to see are available though such as the wand box from Diagon Alley and the trans-orange glass from the same set. Once more of the good 2021 parts become available (and my funds recover after xmas) I will look at getting another order in :) -

LEGO almost certainly knows there are people who want more public transport sets.but the fact that LEGO hasn't made more of them suggests that LEGO doesn't think they will sell (and presumably has some sort of evidence to back that up based on market research etc) I absolutely want more public transit sets (I own the red bus from 2013, the 2010 public transport set with the blue tram and green coach, the yellow bus from the City Corner set, the 2017 bus station plus a number of bus stops and things from various sets as well as various passenger trains) but how many kids will walk into the store and pick the bus or the other public transit stuff instead of picking the fire truck or the race car or the helicopter? -
The lack of battle packs has to do with the licensing (almost certainly to do with the mob that makes the middle-earth themed tabletop game) and was therefore out of LEGO's control.

We have another batch up for review: https://ideas.lego.com/blogs/a4ae09b6-0d4c-4307-9da8-3ee9f3d368d6/post/356335d0-84d1-44ab-855d-68896e332159 737 is unlikely (they already make passenger jets in City and Friends and etc and the 737 isn't exactly a particularly iconic or popular or recognized plane, its just boring IMO, maybe if it was something more recognizable like a 747 it might have potential) Colosseum is out for obvious reasons. Mystery Shack, depends on whether licensing can be worked out (and whether the show is deemed to be acceptable for LEGO or not, its entirely possible Disney isn't doing toy licensing for Gravity Falls at all) Brick Town Police Station is also out for obvious reasons. Bag End is probably out, they know how LOTR sold (or didn't sell, in the case of the latter sets in the line) and I can't see them doing more LOTR at this point (especially with no LOTR content out there right now) Red Dwarf I think is unlikely (the show isn't popular enough in 2020 for it to work and I don't think its got the nostalgia factor of Home Alone to fall back on either and I say this as someone who loves Red Dwarf) Last Airbender, they have rejected a few Last Airbender sets previously, maybe the licensing is an issue (or something to do with how things went when they made the previous Last Airbender sets). Classic Castle. No way they will do a "castle" themed set after just doing the Blacksmith Shop. Open MRI I just don't see the market for. Lighthouse would be cool but whether it could be turned into a set at the right price point and still retain the key things like the lights and motor I don't know. Avatar I would have said is not a good "brand fit" for LEGO (the basic premise is that humans have invaded an alien planet with the sole goal of wiping out the naive lifeforms with a massive show of military power so they can then strip sll the natural resources from the place) but its got a ride at Disneyland and if its got one of those its gotta be something LEGO would be OK with (Disney is even stricter than LEGO on this IIRC) Spirited Away would be nice but licensing may be an issue (not sure how it works for these Japanese properties) and there is the question of popularity (although the movie DID win an Oscar so that's gotta count for something) Jumanji I don't see happening, especially since its for the original and not the remake. Venice not sure about, its a great looking model with good details but I don't know if there are enough people out there interested in the set (or even a smaller less detailed version) Auto Union, its just not popular enough among people who aren't car guys (there are cars out there that are far more recognizable and work much better as a LEGO set. Garbage Trucks get done all the time in City so I don't see this one happening. Not even sure what the TX Master Games one is about (some sort of martial art?). Only appeal would be to martial arts enthusiasts or maybe people picking it up for parts or something. Milwaukee Art Museum is another building that might be well known in the area where it is but just doesn't have the global appeal needed to make what is basically an Architecture set work. Car Wash is cool but its also close in style to the Downtown Diner which is probably a negative. Wallace and Grommet is awesome and I would love to see a set but again, not sure how licensing goes for this. Among Us seems to be a popular game but is it popular enough to be worth turning into a LEGO set (is the design proposed in the original Idea even the best representation of the game in LEGO form?) Roman Warship seems just a little too close to say the re-issued Ship in a Bottle (and is a ship like that going to be popular enough?) Addams Family Mansion is unlikely given the current Haunted House set and the license stuff. GMC Blue Chip is another car that I just don't see being popular and recognizable enough among people who don't know cars. Viking Village is neat, it might stand a chance actually.

The downsizing I don't have a problem with (its clear that they needed the next Ideas set to be a bit lower in price after how expensive things like the Piano and Barracuda Bay are), my problem (like many others on here from what I can see) is the way they made it much brighter. The roof in particular is totally wrong, the original looks like its meant to be a bluish-grayish slate roof (as one might have found on a real blacksmith shop of the style this building was aiming to copy) but the roof on the finished model is totally wrong and doesn't fit the style of building that the set was trying to copy at all. The Fishing Store is a much better design, they captured (and even improved upon) 99% of the design elements and details in the original idea and added even more (throwing in a whole pile of fishing/boating/diving/etc parts in there). There are quite a few Ideas sets that have clearly been improved by LEGO over the original submission (Steamboat Willie for example is better than the original submission IMO, as is the Tron set, the Wall-E set and the space station)

Does this extension work for Australia as a country? (i.e. will it show me the "in stock" correctly for bricks & pieces if you are ordering from Australia?) -
In instances where they know a license isn't possible (IP owned by another toy company as with e.g. He-Man, licence held by another company as with e.g. Mega and Caterpillar/John Deere or license ruled out based on past analysis/discussion) they could (and should) reject the project at the submission stage.

I hope the d2c is a location build and not a vehicle. DC got the retro batcave, the joker mansion and several arkham sets but marvel has had none. Although if by some miracle the d2c is the blackbird/x-jet I will take that... -
The train station requires parts that are long discontinued so it can't be made as a set.

Anyone know if the bike lane bike symbol is printed or sticker? -
Looking at the IDEAS website it seems that the Bionicle project is classified as "IP". Its interesting what else they seem to classify as IP e.g. anything that replicates a real-world building or buildings (such as the Mexico City or Rome ideas), a real world vehicle or vehicles (such as the HMS Beagle or RMS Titanic ideas), or a real world person or people (such as the Lovelace and Babbage ideas) seems to be listed under "IP" (even when its something old that wouldn't be protected by copyright or trademark or other IP/licensing rules in the way something like SpaceX or Concorde or NASA or Toronto Transit would be)
