  1. As Legolijntje mentioned, there are no projectiles included in the parts list, but if you've bought any of the Star Wars sets over the past couple years, you probably have a bunch of spares. I've been torn on the spring loaded shooters myself: they do fire REALLY well. I'd have loved them as a kid, I think. But the way the lasers hang out the back looks really bad, a lot of the time. Anyway, they should be covered up in the AT-AT, although they're in basically the same place as on the set. Hope they're still able to be fired -- I'm not sure I tested that. I actually spent a lot of time trying to incorporate spring loaded shooters stacked together in "clips" into the ISD Tyrant. They were going to fire out of openings in the front-most part of the superstructure, and then the spent "clips" would drop into the hangar bay to be collected later. Not motorized or anything -- you'd just push down on the clip to rapid fire lasers. Anyway, it had a lot of issues and was pretty pointless. Yep, 'Murica. The name's from Dostoevsky, though, of course.
  2. I measured the height, at least, and that's accurate. For the sake of comparison, it's a little taller than the Death Star 10188/75159. Schneeds seems to have been able to do it for about $250. if you don't have to buy from a lot of different stores, an average of $.10 per piece sounds about right.
  3. Glad to hear it -- I'm also hoping it might get a place in that Death Star room of yours. And yeah, a lot of the parts definitely are pretty common, which is kind of a side effect of building with what you have on hand (especially when you're thinking of building a second one for yourself). I also tried to preserve my precious supply of expensive plates. I bet I have 100 4x6 dbg plates on hand and they're dirt cheap, so I used as many of those as I could. Also, if Scala dishes become even rarer, I do think the way Mink66 built the cannons on his modded AT-AT (he posted it earlier in this topic) look pretty good -- so that'd be another option.
  4. Professional-quality instructions by legolijntje are now available (assuming I uploaded everything correctly) for free download. Link: http://www.bricksafe.com/pages/raskolnikov/plus-size-at-at There's a parts list in typical LEGO format at the end of the instructions. Working on uploading to rebrickable as well. Let us know if there are any issues with the files/instructions or the build -- can't wait to see someone else build one!
  5. It may be the dark-colored fig next to the pilot. if you google "Rogue One Mon Calamari," apparently there's a new Mon Cal Admiral with a darker skin (shell?) tone and darker uniform.
  6. That's definitely the best mod of the set I've seen. I'm pretty sure I saw it before if you posted it on eurobricks, and it partly inspired mine. Now that I look at yours again, I'm tempted to steal parts of it. The round tiles on the ankles look good -- should have probably done that. The cannons on the side of the head also look good -- I used a Scala dish, but that may be a lot of fragility and expense without a whole lot of improvement. I also like the front of the cockpit. We did it slightly differently -- it's tough to capture the shape of the head's viewport/cycloptic eye without getting really complicated. Not sure which I like better. Anyway, any plans to "embiggen" yours? Looks like your cockpit already seats two drivers.
  7. It does, but I think all of them are taken from the AT-ST topic, and there are lots of pics of other AT-STs there. I do have one pic of mine: As others found out, it's pretty easy to improve the look of the "head" by moving the 1x4 wedge plates one stud lower, adding 1x3 wedge plates below the "eyes," making the main blasters bigger, changing out the "eyelids" (some people did it with flag pieces, others with hinges), etc. The only thing unique to mine, maybe, is replacing the dbg scala dishes with lbg ones, like on anothergol's AT-ST. Luckily, I had previously bought a decent number of lbg ones when I saw them available -- useful part, tends to be expensive though.
  8. A lot of the AT-ST mods are from other eurobrickers: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/140965-75153-at-st-modification/ I did take some "exploded" pictures of my attempt to do a relatively simple moveable legs mod, though: http://imgur.com/a/PAMty Still messing with it. For me, that somewhat fragile joint worked better than ball joints for keeping it upright. I'm pretty sure there are other people who have put a lot more thought into AT-STs than I have, though.
  9. Go for it -- that'd be a huge help to anyone else who wants to build it, I'm sure.
  10. No problem! And yeah, it'll definitely be a journey. If you or someone else is interested in making a parts list, I'm sure that would be a big help.
  11. Hey all, Some of you asked for instructions for my plus size AT-AT, so I took some pictures while I was building a second one and turned that into "instructions." The "instructions" are available here: http://imgur.com/gallery/yz9YO There are about 150 pictures, but it may be a challenge to follow. So good luck! If you have any questions or modifications or improvements, feel free to let me know. EDIT (Nov. 20, 2016): Legolijntje used the pictures I took to create some professional-quality .pdf instructions, available for free download here: http://rebrickable.com/mocs/raskolnikov/plus-size-atat I recommend that you use these -- much easier than following the previous photo "instructions," I'm sure. EDIT (Dec. 21, 2016): Updated instructions are available at: http://bricksafe.com/files/raskolnikov/plus-size-at-at/Plus-Size AT-AT - By Raskolnikov V5.pdf Pics of the finished model are in the original thread, here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/142646-at-at-moc-plus-sized-but-not-super-big/
  12. The "instructions" are well on their way (i.e., taking pictures at each relatively major step while I build a second one). It's a bigger task than I thought it would be, though. I was going along, snapping pictures every now and then... then I checked my camera and apparently I'd taken like 200 pictures. So, I guess it has a decent number of pieces. I should be able to post it tonight. Just the head is left. Then I might spend some time uploading pictures and culling any useless ones. I'll make a new topic when I'm done (assuming that's kosher), since I'm not sure that everyone who would be interested will be checking back here.
  13. That's nice fleet of playable Rebel capital ships that you're accumulating. Are you going to build brick versions of all of them? 'Cause we should totally set up a big battle somehow...
  14. Another version of basic adjustable legs ^ There's probably a better way to do it, but I'm ok with this for now. "Directions" here: http://imgur.com/a/PAMty
  15. Yeah, I can probably get AT-ST pics done today, and I'll post em in the AT-ST modification thread. The AT-AT is basically just a big version of 75054 set. So if you've built one of those, you've basically seen how this is put together. Since I plan to build a second big one and scrap my remaining 75054, I suppose I could take some pics of it as I go along that other people could follow. You'd have to guess at the parts list, though. Or maybe someone else who plans to build one could generate a parts list for others to use.
  16. That's not the Tyrant ;) It's a new, smaller gray triangle that I'm pretty sure I'm going to call the Aggressor. The plan is for it to be basically a 37-inch version of the Tyrant w/ instructions. Tyrant's in the other room -- it's fine but has its bottom panels removed at the moment to maybe make some modifications. It's tough to say what the cost is, since I buy lots of parts that I think I might need at the same time. Tiles are always expensive, so it's gotta be $100+ in addition to a scrapped 75054. It is plenty stable and playable, though. I could try to take some pics showing different sections up close -- it wouldn't be that hard to reverse engineer.
  17. I've had a nagging feeling about them, but I haven't put much thought into designing a replacement. Big macaroni bricks are just so simple. I kind of just wanted to "get er done" with this one -- I have gray triangle ships I need to make heh. I'll try to take some pics and add them to the AT-ST modification thread. I posted an earlier version there, but the legs have a newer (and better, I think) design in the AT-AT pics.
  18. Thanks guys! Do you think the feet sections should be bigger? I've been debating that. Yeah, that's probably a fair estimate. It doesn't really have much more technic at all, but there are a lot of additions in plates and tiles (so the weight went up considerably). Heh, I'd like to make them but there's only so much time in the day. So...perhaps! It probably is not that hard to reverse engineer a lot of it from pictures, though, especially if you're familiar with the 75054. Discrete sections and panels can be removed pretty easily. Maybe one of you folks is interested in doing the instructions from pictures? I hope you have a go at it! Yeah, it sure does. It actually stands a little better than the set, which has a tendency to be wobbly or easy to tip over in certain walking poses. The MOC sort of "settles" into place in a wide variety of poses. In one of the pics, it's standing on three legs. Thanks, can't wait to see yours when it's finished! You must be intimately familiar with the shape of AT-ATs by now. I do think the cheek cannons are set off a bit too far from the head, but since the dishes are 5 studs long they fit nicely. Glad you like the "vent" details, too. I experimented with a much "busier" design, where more of the vents on the actual AT-AT studio model would be represented in their proper places, but in the end I decided to just put in a few evenly spaced details rather than try for stricter accuracy,
  19. I used to be satisfied with the AT-AT sets, but I decided I wanted something a bit bigger. So I built this -- and plan to build a second one. What do you think? (I'll leave the gigantic, all-SNOT, minifigure-scale versions to the experts). EDIT: Picture "instructions" available here: http://imgur.com/gallery/yz9YO Edit December 8, 2017: Just in case this thread gets resurrected again, free step-by-step pdf instructions are available here: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-6006/raskolnikov/plus-size-at_at/#comments
  20. Haha, thanks. Maybe you'll let me build one using your design, eh eh? it's awful nice when people build stuff that's to scale with what you already have, and my Rebels need a flagship. Mon Cal cruisers are so hard to make. I'm glad you decided to build it -- can't wait to see the finished pictures.
  21. Uh, turned out kind of crappy resolution, but it's just regular 1x3 plates stuck on either side of a technic liftarm, locked into place with snot bricks and headlight bricks. I tried to make it fairly robust. The 1x7 liftarm then just connects to the technic beam that came with the set. I'll probably redo how the front toes/claws connect.
  22. Thanks for the comparison pics! I was curious to see how the set stacked up with yours.
  23. Added some walking poseability -- not totally sure what I think of it, though. The joint on the feet seems to have more friction than a ball joint. Edit: version 2 below
  24. Looks nice, PaulPrime - I'm going to have to do some of those mods to my own pair of AT-STs. I like pretty all of your choices in terms of what to adopt from other people's mods, as well. The only exception, maybe, are the toes/claws -- 1x2 modified plate with a clip and a cheese wedge that someone else used is a really elegant way of doing them, I think. So, anyone yet try to re-work the legs to make them slightly narrower/smaller while also adding the ability to have some walking poses? I took a crack at it but I'm not really satisfied with it.
  25. Yeah, thinking about the realism of Star Wars isn't a rabbit hole that you want to go down. The solar panels seem like the least of it, since we use solar panels plentifully on real life spacecraft, and presumably TIEs would be able to store a lot of energy in batteries or something (then recharge from a capital ship or while flying in a straight line or in orbit).
