  1. Just dicovered that film - and liked it a lot! Well done! Hope to see more of your skills soon!
  2. That is really good looking, 'LegoSjaak'. Good job! Can't wait to see the interiors!
  3. ... the order of regular buildings and corner buildings... ... next one should be corner again, right? Who knows, maybe TLG really thought about all this...
  4. You certainly do, 'lightningtiger'!
  5. I was afraid to ask... so I asked Google... and now I know why some of you use the term "bley"... Thanks for the hints regarding sorting. I have to do it all over again.
  6. After reading your link, Ole, what was the initial reason for TLG to change the colors?
  7. Thanks for clarification, Ole and 'antp'!
  8. I (we, my kids too) think about that. Our layout shows the more "shabby" side of town to the left and the more "sophisticated" part to the right. Both sides have residential and shop buildings though...
  9. You are right! Mixed it up... Corrected now... And thanks for your advice. Now I have to sort them again in four different color boxes... 'antp', you said "old" grey color, does that mean it's not available anymore in current sets?
  10. Hi everybody, I just started sorting my old Lego from my childhood and noticed differences in colors with grey parts. At first I thought the just yellowed over time, even though they were stored in boxes in a dry and dark cellar. Then I searched the forum and finally checked Bricklink's color charts. But I am none the wiser! Can someone confirm that my parts are different in color or are they definitely yellowed? The comparison parts to the left could be "Dark Bluish Grey" and "Light Bluish Grey" and the parts to the right could be "Dark Grey" and "Light Grey" or they are just yellowed... Thanks for your help!
  11. Very nice, very well thought-out layout and design! Great work inside and out! I especially love the laundry area and the stepping stones!
  12. That would be a "Gasser" then, not a Hot Rod, 'misupix'! Other than that great build! Driver fits perfect! My only suggestion would be to change the front wheels for smaller ones. Big'n'littles are substantial for Gasser and Rods!
  13. That's a very nice mini display! I love all the attention to detail like the snowless ring under the tree, the yellow snow and the way you created that thick covering of snow. Regarding the color of the truck: I think it was a good decision to use "cold" colors for it, as it keeps the focus on the open storage door and Santas sleigh! Very well done, conratulations!
  14. Well 'bitbang', it's really hard to tell. We had the modulars sitting on the shelf, so they were ready (besides the "snow" and added interior). I would say it took us around 10 hours. But I have to say that my kids helped to build it, so sometimes we worked on the display with more then just one person. Regarding the details: my kids came up with most of the little stories like the snowball fight and the horrified Minifigur kid plus the running mother. Or the mushroom heaters outside the Cafe Corner. Or the policeman arresting a pickpocket. I just arranged those groups on the display for an equal, realistic arrangement.

    Town Hall MOC

Very well build, 'happer'. I too love especially the floor and the wooden shelves!
  16. Oh, I could also just go out and drive to the next town to take a picture of a height varying skyline, 'Off the wall'... but it's already dark here in the old world! My post just refered to the complaints about the height, not the height/Euro ratio... or dollar for you. Well said, Herky!
  17. I love the perfect binding of the instructions. Makes it so much more precious. But I am biased, being a print media journalist and therefore a magazine guy.
  18. I don't know why so many people complain about the height of the buildings. It's nothing unusual! Have a look at the attached picture. It also kind of "brakes up" the skyline, what I do appreciate. It's the playability which I would complain about! The modular buldings were never meant to be toys, don't they? Are there really parents out there buying modulars for their children? I mean kids below like 14 or so? My 15 year old son loves to build modulars, but never plays with them!
  19. My opinion regarding DO after the build: First of all - I really enjoyed the build. In general I like the fact that it is smaller than the other modular buildings, this way the skyline doesn't look boring. If you don't care for the interior it's at least nice from the outside. What I don't like is the fact that the blue building and the fake brown building are not really well thought out. What I mean is that there is no door in the entrance to the staircase in the blue house. The blue house itself is no "real" house as it contains just a bathroom (with clear window) and a kitchen. You can enter the detectives office only through the blue house, and so on. Hopefully we'll have a bigger modular next year as I really prefer different sizes. I would also be happy to pay more if I get a well thought out, more realistic modular with a nice interior. Something like GG, that was perfect in my book. A beautiful building with complete ground floor and a 1st and 2nd floor which leaves room for your own interior ideas.
  20. I guess you are right, Eurotrash. But we already have ideas for this year. We'll try with a MOC of the little church in our village...
  21. I didn't finish my DO yet, but I really ask myself why they added all these elements for a greater play factor when you actually can't play with it because it is too tiny even for kids hands? I am also for less play elements and bigger buildings - I can't imagine that there are too many kids playing with modular houses to be honest.
  22. Wow L@go, I am deeply impressed! I loved the Snack Bar as a kid and it's so cool to see your modern recreation! Very well done! 6694, the car with caravan, was also one of my favorites as a kid! And the Hot Rod garage... can't get enough of your builds! I am glad that your Flickr album only has 5 pages, because I really have to go back to work!
  23. Thanks for the nice words! Here are some detail shots!
  24. Every year in the Advent season our little village is getting busy. From December 1st to 23rd 23 different families are decorating a window in their house with a festive theme. Every host family serves mulled wine and snacks when they open their window and everybody who is coming can donate money to the "Heimatverein", a club devoted to the maintenance of local traditions. At 6 pm people are getting together in front of the (then wraped) window and a short speach, Christmas story or poem is held. Then the shutter opens and everybody can admire the decorated window. Last year we took part the first time and with me and the kids being Lego fans it was soon clear what we wanted to do - a Lego window. It's nothing too special for you guys, just GE, PS, CC and GG covered in snow with a Christmas fair in front of them. We built the stalls with existing bricks as we don't have the Winter Village Market but we had to have Santa in his sleigh, with Rudolph having a red nose of course! We filled the interiors with furniture and Minifigures to make that city really busy. Well, the visiting kids loved it and after the first evening the window glass was already covered with finger and nose prints. Hope you like it too! I try to post some more detail shots later. GCO
  25. Interesting. I just finished the 1st floor and I had none of the new 1x1 black round plates.
