Hi everyone, I'd like to share with you my diorama for this year, It's the first time I've created such a thing and it's been a lot of fun and joy..and some frustration, because I wasn't sure I was going to finish it before Christmas. Luckily, I did. For some reason, I wasn't able to upload the photos here, but here's a link to my flickr album. The quality of the photos could be better, but I still hope you'll enjoy them, Happy Holidays!

Hi Arjen, thanks for posting your Winter Village, I've just started working on mine for this year, so it was perfect timing for some motivation and/or inspiration!
-
Thanks for the suggestions, appreciated!

Hi Gideon, I'm considering to go to Skærbæk this year, it seems like you've been there before, would you mind to share some of your experience from there? Sorry for the off-topic..

Hi, thanks for all the nice comments, I'm glad you guys like it! Well, I'd love to build it some day, but currently I can't afford it.. I'm thinking about building the Mini Morris car instead, which should be quite inexpensive

Hi everyone, The reason I've created this entry is that I unfortunately missed the deadline of the LDD contest - when I was about sharing my theme, I had to realise that the deadline was noon and not midnight. I was very mad at myself, but then I decided to share my MOCs anyway, outside of the competition. That being said, let me introduce you the theme 1960s in the UK. I'd like to mention that I'm neither from the UK nor have I lived in the given period. I simply like the Mod scene of the era and so I wanted to dedicate my theme to it, I hope you'll like it! The street / - Telephone booth, Vespa, Mini Morris The pub / - Pub with the owner's bedroom, chandelier, bar, fireplace, newspapers on the wall The band / - The Who

I wouldn't mind a Polish hussar either, but I meant this type: http://nrw.nyeregsze...original/50.jpg There'd be room for both! -
I really like how it's different from the official WV sets and how it fits into the theme perfectly after all! Also, I really appreciate that it has all the "attributes" of a train station in such a small scale. If it was a real set, I'd go for it for sure!
-
One of the bests in my opinion! The skate sharpener is brilliant and I like how its size and style matches the official sets', good luck!

Ah, thanks for the links, I've never heard of BlueBrick before! On the other hand, I don't have so many tracks or trains and I have a mac.. But I'll definitely check it out somehow! I'd be interested in how to plan the structure of the diorama if I go for base plates. Some times I draw on paper some form I'd like to achieve and then try to figure out how to build it, maybe the same works for a whole layout? Thank you very much, I'm glad you like it!
-
This sounds great, I like the method of givens and druthers, it seems to be a good way to make a list of priorities, nice! Do you use any tool to plan the whole layout? Or you're just putting there the buildings and see how they'll fit?
-
Haha, well figured, it makes me want to have a basement! Is it going to be winter related?
-
Thanks for the link, it does look quite similar, even the train! Very nice tunnel, too! A tunnel with skiers was a huge dream of mine, so I decided to build it with lego bricks only, I think it consists of around 800 pieces. It took me some time to collect all of them from bricklink, but I'm very happy about it. One additional thing that could be great is a bridge, but I have a very limited space for that, unfortunately. Well, again, maybe next year! I think snowtroopers, hobbits or orcs can fit into such a scene, easily! Maybe you can tag your topic with these, even if you posted it in Town..?
-
Thank you! Yes, I was thinking about whether to use base plates, but without them I've had more flexibility, maybe next year! For lights I used optical fibres, because these are so thin that they can go into the lamps easily without any drilling or other "modifications" on the bricks. I'm looking forward to your photos! Thank you and I couldn't agree more! Can I find photos of yours somewhere?

Hi everyone, I'd like to share with you my Christmas decoration for this year. Although it's far from being as professional as many of yours, it brought me a lot of fun and relaxing moments, I hope you'll like it, too. Happy Holidays! image by Aakos Tolv, on Flickr Here you can find more photos: https://www.flickr.c...th/23963088201/

Full of great ideas! I really like its size, too!

It's interesting to see these old catalogs, also, the summary of the lines looks interesting! Do you think the summary can vary region by region? I can see here sets which I've never seen in my country's catalogs (e.g. 6079, 6046, 6071) and it's not familiar to me either that the newer Forestmen were placed against the Crusaders. I'll need to take a look at my old catalogs when I get home.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15 Rumors and Discussion
aakos12 replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I really hope it won't be used for the Kendo Fighter! I've done kendo for a while and so I'm really looking forward to a more accurate minifig than in Ninjago. -
Thank you everyone!

As a Hungarian I really appreciate the look of the paprika and the busó masks! Great ideas! If you don't have anything for Budapest, may I suggest chess players in Szécheny bath?

What minifigs are we missing - post your detailed suggestions here
aakos12 replied to CopMike's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Looking back, it's impressive how many of these suggestions have actually become a real minifig! What I'd like to see are: Hussar Gender: Male Occupation/print on torso: Green dolman jacket with golden print, maybe another jacket could be added on the shoulder in a similar way like the Star Wars stormtroopers have their pauldrons Type of headgear: a red cap like the Toy Soldier has or a modified, specific version of it Type of facial expression: mustache, proud or strict Color on torso/legs: green or dark green torso, red legs with golden prints at the upper part and black under indicating boots Accessory: sword and paudron Danish Royal Guard Gender: Male Occupation/print on torso: black torso with 2 white belts crossing in the midle on his chest, silver bottons on both sides Type of headgear: the same as the Brittish Royal Guard Type of facial expression: strict, stripe under his chin Color on torso/legs: black torso, blue legs with white stripes on either sides, white gloves Accessory: rifle -
Hi, my name is Ákos and I'm 29. I've always been into Lego since I remember, I find it very relaxing to build things, especially when it comes to MOCs. In general I prefer the minifig-scaled creations, for some reason that's what I consider to be the 'real thing'. I have a few favourite themes, these are: Town/City, Castle and Winter Village. Besides the actual building, I'm also interested in the company's progresses and business, I like to read about their future plans, strategies and to take a look behind the scene whenever I can. :) Lately I started to discover LDD to enable myself ordering the bricks I need for a certain build, I appreciate it so far, eventhough it's rather time consuming. :) Currently I'm planning and preparing a winter display with working lights as decoration for December. It has been an old dream of mine, it'll include the official WV sets (except for the newer version of the Toy Shop and I'm not sure about Santa's workshop yet), a train and some MOCs. But don't expect something very professional! :D I've registered on here to get inspired and to have opinions or suggestions from other members. Well, that's it.
