  1. This is GREAT! But I would have liked to see you make an official Baradur this size to go next to the official Orthanc - that would have been to scale!
  2. Harry Potter should be back next year, right? That's when the new movie is out I think.
  3. I bought the Sandcrawler that came out 10 years ago, and am skipping the current version because of that.
  4. They could include the armored car build as well. And I definitely would go for a haunted castle, haunted pirate ship, and a old west ghost town/ haunted mine.
  5. Videogames take 4-5 years to develop, and the LOTR aspect would have been locked in long before Lego decided to stop making sets this past year.
  6. That's Jim. He's the slave Huckleberry is helping to escape.
  7. Are you saying that the LOTR/Hobbit lines were top sellers for lego? Do you have info on sales, etc., that you'd like to share? Is it this success why we are getting a 3rd wave of LOTR this year, and lego has renewed the license for 2 more years with Warner Bros.?
  8. I think Zorro would make a great WW theme. You have the crossover appeal of the Western & Napoleanic-style soliders, plus Southwestern/Colonial architecture, which would be somewhat new and different.
  9. Good point! One of the Scooby Movies TV shows (1 hour TV episodes with special 'guest stars') had Batman and Robin solving a mystery with the gang, and when the monsters were unmasked they were the Joker and Penguin!
  10. I would really go for a new nasal helm with a more natural, realistic hanging chainmail coif than the current flared helmet or the old bullet helmet has. But any new helmet is more likely to be a more fantastical creation for some new ogre or elf.
  11. I would have guessed 'Mediterranean' before Middle Eastern, but very nice either way!
  12. I always hope they finally do a truly modular line. $90 - The Keep. Kinda of a 3 sided castle on its own, it has 3 furnished interior levels + a dungeon. $50 - The Gate. Two towers, some attacking enemies. $40 - Round tower + wall section. Alternate pieces and instructions for either trebuchet or windmill to put on top. $30 - Square tower + wall section. And some more historic/less <insert that tiresome argument> heraldry would be great as well.
  13. This has a great middle-eastern vibe. I love tan castles and desert themes!
  14. Maybe they can do a set that consists of all the Elves figures redone in minifig form?
  15. Faerost makes a good point. If lego is going to do a new or final set like Minas Tirith, they'd certainly just negotiate a new short, one-off contract like they did for BTTF, GB, or the Simpsons. There could only be a problem with that if someone like Megablocks stepped in and offered WB a longer better deal....
  16. That's too bad about the lego ideas restriction. Lego didn't own the Simpson's action figure license, either. Until they did.
  17. LOTR: 1. Gondor soldier w/new helmet 2. Southron olefant rider 3. Rohan Rider w/new helmet with built in hair 4. Orc w/new helmet 5. Helms Deep Elf w/new helmet 6. Easterling w/new helmet 7. Haradrim 8. Witchking w/new helmet 9. Eowyn w/new helmet w/built in hair 10. Denethor 11. Pippen (new Gondor helmet & tree torso) 12. Merry (new Rohan Rider helmet 13. Sam w/Orc helmet 14. Frodo w/Orc helmet 15. Gothmog 16. Faramir Ranger attire
  18. Who has made the best set of illustrations or customs of unmade & most wanted LOTR minifigs? I'd love to see someone submit them as a set of LOTR CMF to Lego Ideas! Is there a rule about CMF suggestions? I think a CMF line would be the best (and probably only) way to get the most wanted characters and army-builders w/new sculpt headgear.
  19. Totally agree BrickTamland. Armored Elves and Gondor soldiers are the worst misses for BOTFA and ROTK movie sets.
  20. Great job! I thought that set was good as well, though it definitely lacks the rocky detailing on the front and exterior to give it a real 'mountain' flavor, which you have more than made up for here! I plan on incorporating mine into a bigger Erebor. A better executed recent mine set is the one from LR. Love that one as well. Plan on 'haunting' it up if Scooby-Doo happens.
  21. Speaing of the new Elves set and Lothlorien, has anyone adapted the Ewok Village set in the same way? I'm thinking about doing Mirkwood with it.
  22. That's wonderful! I love the varied construction layout and details. The hoardings are great - looks just like a real castle.
  23. The only things really lacking are Grond, and the unique helmets for the Gondor soldiers. It uses the classic nasal guard helmet in silver instead, with silver breastplates, and nice black shields with the tree design. Maybe make Grond, the battering ram instead of the generic catapult for the orc army? The trebuchet's have really nice designs, they look like they could really fling stones at the orcs. I like the fact that for the gate, he made two tower battlements on either side of the gate that project outward far enough so you can stand a guard on top of each one to shoot down on anyone that approaches the door. He also did a nice job by making several furnished rooms accessible from the back. There's a vaulted throne room, with a table where Denethor can eat, a tomb room with a pyre for burning Faramir/Denthor, a scroll room with a torch and table and maps for research, a 'buttery,' with a little table and a turkey and goblet and some kegs. There's a space for the white tree in the courtyard at the top, but no tree. The tower at the top that would hold the palatir is solid, so there are no actual rooms in it. Also, the building with the door at the top courtyard is just a facade without a room behind it as well. If you looked at a picture of the whole structure without minifigs on it, you'd think that it is much bigger, and was maybe made for figure half the height of standard minifigs, which in my mind, is a very good achievement for such a massive town/fortress.
  24. What's nice about Scooby Doo is all the sets they could make just based on the classic cartoon that cross over into other themes. There was a haunted pirate ship with captain, a couple haunted castles. A haunted old west ghost town. A Tiki ghost with mask. A ghostly spaceship and alien. A witch's spooky swamp shack, and several haunted mansions and museums. Just tons of really attractive material for sets. Scooby Doo is the longest running cartoon in history. There are not a lot of properties out there that are popular and relevant with 6 years that were popular with their grandparents when they were 6. I'm really excited for this theme!
  25. With PJ doing everything digital now, I wouldn't be surprised if it was originally shot with an axe, then changed to a hammer for ratings reasons or whatever. Heck, there's still 3 weeks to release, PJ may change it back to an axe again by then. Maybe just made it a hammer to tone done the commercials for all the mommies watching.
