Grohl's Creations
grohl replied to grohl's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thank you for your kind words. I tried my best and I was fortunately able to beat the number of the functions. My model has got 6 whereas the original 8052 has got 5. The sturdiness of this model is a bit improved compared to the original model. And as anything it also has some weak points. Connecting the air filters is definitely one of them, but there was no other way how to do it and I really wanted them on the model. The other one is the bonnet. If you look at the place where it is attached to the grille, it can rotate when you open it.- 761 replies

M motor should be fine, I think you can put there an 8-tooth gear except the 24, since the M-motor is much slower Thank god this is legged and not wheeled, but thank you for your praise. I never did anything in LDD, but when I have time, I will make photo instructions. HEAVY DUTY TOW TRUCK An alternative model of 8052 Container truck with working steering, towing arm, outriggers, opening doors and bonnet and tilting towing fixture. Video to come soon.- 761 replies

Forward and Right Steering

It has already been introduced in this set- 8472 By hitting the bumper the car changes the direction and steers when going reverse. After another hit to the bumper it goes straight forward. Great and very underrated set, although the block with motor is way too big and I did not find any place for it in any of my MOCs. -
Chopper

Great MOC, I love the rider and the whole concept of the video. The steering mechanism of the chopper is great as well. -

Kinetic horse sculpture This not a new MOC, but some of you might not know it and it definitely deserved a better video and pictures. I have built this more than three years ago and improved only some minor things over the years, because the walking model of the horse worked flawlessly from the very beginning. The horse is inspired by Theo Jansen's kinetic sculptures. A few months after I built this there was also one Creation using kinetic horse, but I forgot the link. Anyway this probably was the FIRST one.- 761 replies

Point for Zblj and big thanks to all. Yes, my MOC was inspired by Tatra 813 and Transporta P40 trailer. In the picture you can see only the 4x4 version but I was unable to find the blue one with the correct trailer.- 761 replies

HEAVY TRANSPORT Here I am again with a new MOC. It measures 76cm and consists of three parts. I played with an idea to make something from a few sets and to add minimum extra parts. So this is what can be in 95% built from 8048, 8049 and 8052 LEGO Technic sets. The truck has got one M motor for steering of two front axles. The first one steers one third faster. The XL motor drives the rear axle and has got enough power to pull the whole MOC with no problem. It also features all four opening doors. The crane can be rotated by one gear places on the right side while the second gear connected to the LINEAR ACTUATOR lowers and raises the crane. The winch is operated by the gear placed on the crane and is strong enough to pull the load onto the trailer. The trailer features pneumatically operated ramps to allow the loading of the vehicle and the other two block the load on the trailer to avoid its movement during the ride. The front axle can turn to minimize the steering radius. Rear two axles have pendulous suspension. The monster truck has got front steering axle, fake V4 engine, opening bonnet and full suspension. More pictures soon in my BS gallery VIDEO to come soon- 761 replies
