  6. Thanks, I wanted to make the soldiers look capable. The pyramid roof was something that bothered me during build. I wasn't sure how to do it, and looks a little too "samurai"-y for me. If only!
  7. In the far off desert of Dathan, the royal palace rises above the sands. Enter inside the pyramid fortress and see for yourself what lies beyond. I'm glad to show off my latest castle MOC, the Pyramid Fortress of Dathan. I had been working on it off and on all summer. It came up as a way for me and a buddy to have a mini competition between ourselves. He chose to build a mountain fortress while I chose to build a pyramid. We agreed on no limit of parts, and up to 30 fighting minifigures, including wizards, alchemists, etc. Townies were not considered for the 30. Once he finishes his, we're going to reveal our designs to each other, and then we have to come up with siege engines to take down the other's fortress. The first two overview images are not done with BlueRender because it kept crashing when I tried to render because of how many pieces. As you can see, there are numerous defenses along the sloped walls, designed to help againt siege towers. Here is a better shot of the gate and the long pathway to it. If you notice, there are hundres of gold spikes popping out as well. And here is two of the defenses on the front of the castle. Oh no! There's a trap door on the walkway as well! Inside is the barracks, with the roof removed to see in for you guys. Up in the tower is where the royal family lives. The top floor is a bedroom and study; the bottom floor is where they keep the heads of enemies. Here are the pathways to get around to the royal chambers as well as parts of the walls. In the back is a forge and marketstalls. Stairs to access the highest walls. Now to the dungeons... There's a brown door that leads down. You can also see a ladder that lets soldiers climb up to the lower walls. And the dungeon! Two cells, a breaking wheel, a rack, and lots of pain. And now the people. All of them (aside from the three royal guards) have different faces. The king, his son (both of whom are wizards), the alchemy-loving queen, and one of the three bodyguards. He does have a sword at his hip. The spearmen and their captain. They have swords as well behind their shields. The archers and scouts. The berserkers. The heavily armed men. Essentially the special forces of the army of Dathan. And the townies, from slaves and smiths, to merchants and beautiful women. Enjoy!
  8. "Seems like a good fit for you. It's Black Knight, by the way."
  9. "It was me, Miderun the barbarian, a rogue named Germ, and Na'im a cleric. I'd say we fared pretty well until our luck ran out, for some reason. There were some heated moments between us, but we managed to pull through, mostly."
  10. "If you say so..." he mumbles as he takes a quick swig from his bottle.
  11. "No weapons? How delightful," Mr. Woodland says gleefully. "Works for me," Tandel shrugs. "My outfit?" he returns. A chuckle comes to his lips. "I don't think you'll win, but I'll take that bet." The man tries to wave Heckz off, who just so happens to be blocking the man's view of the ongoing fight. "Would you-"he notices the insignia and immediately his tone changes and he whispers. "See, Woodland claims people can only use his weapons, but if he can't tell who used what, he'll let it slide. I just happen to have this ground up glass that needs some magic to be used. Use it on one enemy, and he's gonna be blinded and bleeding, but you only get one shot. So what's it worth to ya?" "Oh, we have an honorable man!" the emcee shouts to the roaring crowd as the ongoing fight ends. "So are you all ready?" QM NOTE: Just to make it clear before this battle starts, if Simon is Knocked Out when the battle ends, he is dead. If he falls in battle but is revived before the fight ends, he's alive.
  12. Kiray signs up again as well, just in case.
  13. Kiray nods at his statement. "People have claimed weirder, haven't they? We're all different people, trying to live our lives, and then something comes along and snatches us from the comfortable or the familiar. Then we're planted somewhere and just have to make do."
  14. "Helpful, dangerous," she shrugs, "all the same to some folks." At the mention of places other than Eubric, she pauses, her eyes somewhat glazing over, thinking internally about home. "Actually no, I'm not from Dastan. I was merely there on a quest with the Dragonlord. I've been here in Eubric for a few years now. Yourself? That's a strong accent you have."
  15. "It just followed my lead in battle." She takes a sip from her mug. "I think I some how confused it into thinking I was an advanced model and it followed what I said. Pretty interesting creations, if you ask me. Are they useful? Not my call."
  16. Overhearing Keliim and Arthur chat about autmata, she decides to join in. "Sorry if I'm being rude, but you were talking about automata? I controlled one. Sort of. Back out in Dastan."
  17. Kiray enters the Hall after a long Fields trip. She had some new weapons, and a new class. Seeing the Hall relatively pack surprises her. Most seemed to be faces she had seen before, although the new ones were interesting. She grabs a stiff drink and walks over to the quest board, seeing a new notice for a Fields run. She eventually finds Keliim and hunkers down. "I just came from the Fields. I'm willing to go back if you want to make a run."
  18. Kiray nods to the Copper Fox as she enters the Training Room. "This will be quick," she says. "Merely trying something out. Maybe I'll stay like this, maybe not." 21. Roger the bouncer looks down at the zeugl head as the sewer water splashes up on him. His face seems to turn even angrier. "I will say, that's probably the biggest thing I've seen. Most just bring in the head of an elf." "Elves are monsters?" "Don't push me, boy." All that Torald finds is nasty sewer water, feces, empty bottles, and a ripped shirt. Nothing of value. But Heckz' spell causes some collateral damage. Roger just happens to be standing in the water, in the direct line of attack. His sweaty, sewerwatery body has Heckz' spell travel up him and gives him a thin protective ice armor. "Are you people serious?" His fists clench, but perhaps thinking better of it, he holds back and instead waves them to follow him down the sewer. The group then comes to a metal grate where between the bars they can see a large, sandy pit surrounded by cheering, screaming spectators. "And the Cleaners have won again, folks!" a rich-looking man in the center shouts, clearing making a show to the crowd. He's just as theatrical as Heckz. Maybe even more so. He waits a moment as money exchanges hands before continuing. "Up next we have the Hoodlums and the Giants fighting each other. Place your bets!" As the fighting gets started, Roger leads the party over to the pit boss. "Mr. Woodland..." "What is it Roger?" He looks at the newcomers. "Oh, some new fighters or guests?" "They wanna fight." Woodland looks them up and down. "You're Heroes aren't you? Never had any of you grace my humble establishment. See, this place isn't exactly... legit. So if you try anything, we'll have no choice to stop you." Then his demeanor seems to brighten. "So a fight it is? Well, to make all my fights fair, you can't use any of the weapons you currently hold. You have to use mine. That Pongcannis over there, Tandel's his name, will give you weapons. Spells are okay in my books. Just don't turn anyone into a bear. Last guy who did that got mauled by said bear." "You know, boss, I think they want to fight the best..." Roger says, clearly frosty at his treatment by the Heroes. "Well, then," he chuckles. "I'd be much obliged to allow that. Heroes, you will fight The Cleaner. To the death. Now, I know how you're whole Heroica-magic works, but I'm eager to see if it's real. Go see Tandel. You're up after this fight." He looks at Roger. "Make sure your boys are ready." "To the death?" "Yes, boy. To the death." The Heroes go over to Tandel. "Those are some nice weapons," he roars. "But can't use them. You can only use common items. That rolling pin you can use. If you have any questions, ask me and I'll let you know. If not, I'll get you some weapons." 22. I'd love to go on a FoG party with Keliim. I'm thinking of switching Kiray from BK to Warden to try out the crossbow from the anniversary.
  23. Kiray looks in her inventory, seeing she has a new crossbow in her inventory. "Should we head back to the Hall and see if there is anyone who would want to join us to venture back?"
  24. Thanks, Sandy! That crossbow is awesome.
