Yes, today my set arrived....first i thought it wouldn't fit in my city....but it is such a nice design that i simply had to buy one and now i have to build it. I think i will not put PF parts in it....i will use it just for a diorama and not for letting it ride around.. Thanks for your review, because of the review i made the decision to buy one as well! Later i will try to get an extra passenger car...hope i can find one !!! Greetz LegoSjaak

That police office looks great...well done!!!

Nice idea....voted for the public transport set.... i like the touringcar só much!!!

It indeed is crowded, Red Brick, but that's how it is in the Netherlands.... I think i will only add new sets/cars etc..but leave the city itself intact....it is too much work to completely rebuild a city like this... It was horrible to take the city apart, a few months ago, just to put new wooden plates (straight ones) under the city..... But after a long time of rebuilding my city is complete again. The coming year we'll see which sets i will add...maybe the new harbour....i'm not sure yet......we'll see... Greetz, LegoSjaak

What is the best way to power a train layout?
LegoSjaak replied to mobricki's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Hello Mobricki, you shuold choose PF, because if you start now, it is a way easier to buy RC/PF track and trains.....so, in my opinion there is only one possibility....RC!! I started with RC this year and also bought trains and track second hand...like 7897 and 7898....(Have a look at my Flickr-pictures...)And now i can combine them with the new Power Functions trains Succes and have fun! WIP MOD: Is it a 7938? Is it a 7939? No, it's....
LegoSjaak replied to Snapshot's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I like the idea of using the 7939 cockpit for the passengertrain. Maybe with a little bit of stickering, you could make it even look better... I have made a red version of the 7939 loc...as you can see in my Flickr-pictures: Greetz, LegoSjaak -
Unnecessary quote of entire post removed by moderator -TheBrickster You can build a school out of the set 4954 Townhouse....This is a creator set of wich you can build 3 buildings. One of them is a school.... Greetz, LegoSjaak

Well LGG, must say, one reason i started with Lego again in August 2009 was the fact that my girlfriend was pregnant. Now my son (...best son in the world... lovely little guy) is 13 months and i have built a huge collection of City sets... I love being at home now and i combine it with searching for new and cheap City sets on the internet. It is also a lot of fun waiting on parcels to be deliverd... unpacking them and start building again! But another reason is that i had a lot of Lego when i was young.. Had 4 12V trains those days... (i was born in 1971) and it brought me a lot of fun and i also learned a lot of it! Technic Lego made me doing a lot of things in and around my house now myself... Electrics, construction etc etc i love to do that myself, instead of calling a company to do that for me... My girlfriend has hardly any feelings for Lego, but she's happy that i have my hobby at home. She understands i like to collect the City sets... but she doesn't now exactly how much money i put in.. but whe have a split account....Both we have our own accounts and 1 account for the mortgage, electrics etc and all other things like food, toys and clothes for our little guy! But fact is that i can decide for myself where i spend my money on...either on a more expensive car, wintersports or Lego..it doesn matter...so i'm happy with that and i feel like a little boy again... Later i will show the legoTown to my son, but he must be a lot older, because else he will wreck everything... Right..everybody succes in explaining to your wife or girlfriend why you ordered lego again..... Greetz LegoSjaak

I like this creation, obviously it is a 'ute', but i do not know that name... In the Netherlands we do probably nnot have that type of car.. I like the concept and it would be good to have more types of cars in Lego City. I must say, TLG has done a good job in 2010.. they brought us a lot of nice City sets and i hope voor 2011 they will offer various nice sets again!! Untill then, we make our own vehicles....like you did!! Yesterday i have built the Toys R Us truck, wich is not for sale in the Netherlands, but in Germany (Duisburg) is a TRU-shop... so, now i have one!!! Again, nice work, Greetz, LegoSjaak

Buying an extra set would probably the cheapest way to obtain extra cars. I ordered the parts at someone, and 2 cars cost me 75 euro's. A whole 7938 set cost me Eur 82,- incl. post and package...and if i would have sold the PF set, then 2 cars would have cost me only Eur 40,- ... Succes in searching for cars, parts or the whole set for a decent price !!! Greetz LegoSjaak

Hello Cinderbike, the stations backside is situated against the town/road... so it is accessible already. Here is an older picture (before the expansion), where you can see the position of the station a little bit.. I will make newer pictures next wednesday !!! Greetz LegoSjaak

Hi, i saw you would like to build a Lego City with mainly original sets...well, i'm also doing that already for 15 months now... have a look, maybe it is inspiring! (there are a lot of pics..) But if you want to build a modular city, it is pretty difficult to put for example track in it.... My experiences in building a Lego City are that once you have a city and you want to change that, sometimes buildings collapse or at least you incidently tear down stuff you didn/t want to.... Yesterday i was busy in putting large 48x48 stud baseplates under my track, and my station got damaged... You can always rebuild it, but if you move Lego, you will always have damage to your structures or layouts... so think of that.. The best is to have your city in only one place...and take pictures of it, to show it to the people.... BTW you can also create buildings that are almost the same as original sets. You can make 1 station out of two sets for example... I do like a lot of MOC i see here, but a lot of them do not fit in a city like mine (IMO).. I also have no modular houses.. i chose to have an other type of Lego City...but maybe in the future, if there are not so many new City-sets, i will choose to put modulars in my Town as well... Hi LightningTiger, i ran out of red tiles, but had some white tiles, so i tiled the glass wall and with a piece of white cheese, it now merges into the white tiling of the roof...Thanks for your comment, i saw immediately what you meant!! Greetz, LegoSjaak Hi Gioppa, i understand what you try to explain me, but i cannot put two rails next to eachother, because then the station does not fit in my tracklayout anymore...now, i can just place the whole station on the gap in the layout.... But thanks anyway for your comment. When the station is replaced, i will take some pictures again. Have a look at the pictures on Flickr or Brickshelf (link below) so you can maybe see why a double track is bringing me difficulties..... Greetz, LegoSjaak

Hi there Legofans !!! In this link you can find pictures of the station i built from two Trainstation sets 7937. Added a few parts and there it is! Any suggestions ?? (Bought the second set for only Eur 29,-) Have a look at my other pictures as well...it's free !! Greetz LegoSjaak

Leg Godt Gud, thanks for your advice....i'm considering to hang the planes with fishingline, but i have to search for the line in my garage... maybe i will find something. I have in fact only one 7939 cargo set, but i bought a lot of separate cars and locs from someone in the neighbourhood who has bought over 20 sets, just to resell cars etc.. I now have 3 octanwagons, 6 containerwagons, 2 yellow locs, 1 red loc and 3 trucks with extra yellow containers. I also have 2 of those green cranes.. This weekend my second station 7937 arrived and i make 1 station of 2 7937 sets.... hope it looks good and not overdone. I also got 8 baseplates 48x48 studs in grey, just to put under the cargo/track layout...now there are wooden plates, but that doesn't look very lego-ish.... indeed i'm an AFOL.....but that wouldn't surprise you... I also get an Toys R Us truck from the guy who delivered met the extra 7939 cars...... so next weekend i can build a blue truck.. It was very cheap at the TRU shop in Duisburg, that is near the Dutch border with germany.. Every second set with 50 % off...so 2 TRU trucks for only 45 Euros...that is cheap!!! Greetz LegoSjaak

Strak zoekwerk.. !!!!

You should never disassemble anything...just buy new lego...and expand your village !!!

For Dutch visitors.....Policestation 7744 at Bol.com only Eur 59,99 + post and package (Eur 1,95)...very cheap i think !!!! Succes with ordering it !! Greetz LegoSjaak

I like the truck most, especially that part on wich the container can be placed. Is it possible to put the new containers from the 7939 Cargotrain set on it? Now you should put the whole scene into a layout and let the trains roll!! Nice work!! Greetz, LegoSjaak
-
I would buy either 7898 or 7939. A cargotrain offers more play-ability, in my opinion, so i would choose for one of those.. A cargotrain though is more expensive than a passengertrain...so you should choose.. My son is just 13 months...and i bought al these 4 trains already... but not for him, at this moment... When he is older, he may play with the Lego... but now, he would wreck everything...!! Succes with the choice you make!! Greetz LegoSjaak
