It is harder than I was thinking... Desired result (state before assembling with the rest of the custom and lego parts): Reality - after fastening all screws and first load test (at least 5 golden tubes were torn apart). The load is not correctly distributed, the tube is too thin, etc. There is still a long way to go.

@SaperPL thank you. I am glad you like it. Yes, I know now, many people will vote according these described criteria, but TBH, when the contest was launched, the 'any set from lego history' rule offered to go this way too. Looks like that I slightly misinterpreted importance of the rules. I added functions that mimic functions of the original set, but because of scale, and because modern technic set this size would probably feature functions like that, they have always something extra to them. Modern technic would definitely use an decent amount of system bricks for detailing, IMHO. Personally, I think it is just a matter of taste @Thirdwigg Thanks. Honestly, I like this one more, but I am more satisfied with the 8286 rebuild.

@Maaboo35 Tahnk you! @SaperPL I will think about replacing some parts, where is an adequate alternative available, but I think that black trailer would just blend with the car, if it was in original colourscheme, so I will most probably keep it DBG. @Thirdwigg I am happy you like it. The bodywork will definitely be modified, this is just a first iteration of it. Connectors#3 on the front bumper? Not sure about it, but I might give it a try. Or completely rebuild that section. ;D

This MOC lives also after the end of the TC19 contest. Unfortunatelly not exactly in a way LEGO purist would approve. Blame the 3D printer and my desire to design my own custom parts. This is first stage of the transformation into custom hybrid monster - new gearbox shifting rod and 20t bevel gear. And with handload of stickers. The brakedisc is the old printed one, but photoshopped how it would look with golden center - nice, I have to make more brakedisc like this in future for future similar projects. Do you recognize the sticker on the fuel tank cap (2x2 black round plate)? It is from official set, but it is not a sticker you would put on the set, it was left on the stickersheet. And now the part storm begins. If you do not like custom or 3D printed parts, please stop folowing this thread right here. I designed and printed custom front wheel with inverted brakedisc, Beside that I plan to make custom thicker and longer front shock absorbers with half-metal telescopic part (like pneumatic or linear actuators) and more custom front fork accesories. Maybe there will be also lighter rear swingarm and wider rear rim. Also playing with idea of custom printed engine-gearbox block, but then it would not be suitable for this forum More photos: https://bricksafe.com/pages/horcikdesigns/tc19-hd-one/afterlife-mods-3d-printing

The 6614 I built for this contest was not the only one model I had in mind for this contest. I am not sure which one will make it to the starting line, but currently this one is more likely. Well, it is probably not my best MOC, and I hope to fine-tune it until the end of the contest. As a kid I was looking old catalogues and dreamed about owning many sets - this one was one of them. Honestly, I used to imagine it was equipped with full suspension, and never noticed it's nicely opening canopy. So, that's why I decieded to choose this one. I tried to mimic functions of the original as closely as I could with modern and available parts. The dimensions might be somewhere off by stud or two. There are many things to be improved here. Firstly - long awaited comment replies. :) @Jurss I like the wheel inserts here too - they were used on firetruck, and they evoke me 4-spoke pattern of the original city wheels. The windscreen really feels inproper for technic, I know, but the light blue area in front is important part of this set's colour scheme, so omitting it would ruin the retro feel IMHO. It is a matter of taste, and I am aware of it. @MangaNOID Yes, your comment helped a lot :). Rebuilding a city set within contest rules is tough discipline. Maybe I went too much in freestyle field, where I feel more comfortable. I'll probably build another model for this contest (not from city anymore), as I want this MOC to be something that does not fully go with the contest borders. "HD finese" made my day, thank you! But the sun does not shine everyday, all of us build MOCs of altering quality. @Jim Be sure I'll finish this model, but maybe not for this contest, because I really want there that windscreen. :D I went the "upscale it" way, and tried to build the outer case to look like system set in miniature (or while seen from distance), but have full technic chassis inside. Well, these artistic approaches should be put aside for this contest. Update later, but soon.

Thank you all, I am so glad you like it that I consider making full PDF instructions for the body too. @syclone - The rims and tires are originally WPL custom wheels and tires (if I remember correctly), but I plan to 3D print new ones as I am not satisfied with the adapter I made from old lego pulleywheels back then when I had not yet the 3D printer.

Hi, Well, I did it too. I could not resist. Building this little cute car was irresistible, when I got chassis for it. You can check out the chassis - this time it is just plain IO file, but the instructions are for free) https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-81033/Horcikdesigns/expedition-chassis/#details It is powered by two L motors, steering Servo and winch one M motor, ECU and "fuel" is supplied by Buwizz (in video) MORE PHOTOS: https://bricksafe.com/pages/horcikdesigns/landy-defender-90

Little progress here. added some mechanics, water gun controls. Two modes controlled by switch - independent or steering dependent water gun rotation, i6 fake micro engine. improved the side doors hoose winch is knob operated still lot work to do, still not sure it is the best model for this contest. The current windshield is placeholder and coloured digitally

Little update. Reduced the number of beams, added few panels, and engine block. Unusual U scheme, to make things more interesting. But I might go for micro V8 or micro inline 6 in order to save some space inside for water gun turret contol mechanism. cargo space doors will be spring-loaded to imitate the behaviour of the original counterpart. The rear section is just a sketch to get basic idea of the dimensions. The seat is also just a placeholder. Now I have to confess that the truck will have working steering wheel in cab and HOG knob in not-yet specified location.

Wow, the outriggers look really good. Altough the geartrain looks realy courageous. But I like it a lot!

Space! Good luck with the purple. I really like the idea, almost makes me reconsider my choice of entry model. :D The front bumper looks really good built from connectors. -
[TC20] 6752 "Fire Rescue"
HorcikDesigns replied to syclone's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Looking good so far, very nice rear axle, btw. Nice to see some set from modern era Creator. 6484 was my original idea too, as it was one of my dream sets back in the past, when I was browsing through old catalogues. -
Well, maybe I will continue with this upscaled classic city set after the contest, but now may this be my chosen one. Even tough the upscale rule recommendation. I'll try to keep it in roughly in 3,75:1 scale and proportions as close as possible, while trying to keep it's classic and cartoony vibe, and adding bit of realism to it. wish me luck. Not sure I will enter the contest with this one, or another entry, but I definitely would like to finish once this "little" buddy that is hardcore nostalgic set for me. Everything you see can be changed if needed, only the front grille is keeper for me for this MOC
